    A Chat with Brady Durkin--Storytelling, Creativity & Chasing God-Sized Dreams | Ep. 491

What a special month this has been thus far! Last week, you got to meet my oldest son, Luke. This week, I'm sitting down with my middle son, Brady Durkin, and I can't wait for you to hear this conversation. Brady is entering his senior year at High Point University (NC), pursuing his passion for media production, film, and storytelling. But this episode goes way beyond cameras, movies, and books. It's about purpose. It's about discipline. It's about creating something that matters. I's about learning to stay present while chasing big dreams. As Melanie and I prepare to become empty nesters, these conversations with my kids have become even more meaningful, and I pray they encourage you as much as they've inspired me. In true IMPACT SHOW podcast fashion, we flip the script halfway through the episode, and Brady turns the microphone around to interview me with some deep, thought-provoking questions. Let's just say...he definitely didn't go easy on his dad! In this episode, you'll hear: Why Brady believes stories have the power to change lives How and why he's pursuing a career in film production and creative storytelling The incredible experience of working behind the scenes on the upcoming Christmas film All That Glitters at Christmas Lessons learned from director Paul Joyner about servant leadership and caring for people The story behind Brady's first novel, Lesser, and what inspired him to write over 70,000 words while balancing college life Why consistency—not perfection—is the key to accomplishing big dreams The importance of staying present instead of constantly worrying about the future How discipline is built one day, one decision, and one small win at a time Brady's vision for graduate school, filmmaking, and creating stories that leave a lasting impact Our favorite family memories—from Disneyland to Europe—and why those moments matter more than ever Brady's honest questions for me about regrets, work-life balance, coaching, leadership, and dreaming big My advice for young leaders about networking, taking action, and putting your work out into the world before it's "perfect" Why your purpose is discovered by doing—not waiting One of the things I admire most about Brady is that he's never been afraid to walk his own path. He's a deep thinker, an incredible storyteller, and someone who genuinely wants to use his gifts to make people better. Whether it's through film, writing, or simply serving the people around him, I believe God has incredible things in store for him. As you listen today, I hope you're reminded that your dreams do matter—but so does today's work. Stay faithful to the process. Stay present. Keep showing up. And don't be afraid to create the thing that's been stirring in your heart. You never know how God will use it. If this episode encouraged you, would you please do me a favor? A Chat with Luke Durkin…Life, Law School, and What's Next | Ep. 490

This month, I'm bringing my family onto the IMPACT SHOW Podcast and we're kicking it off with my oldest son, Luke Durkin. At 23 years old, Luke just completed his first year in law school at the University of South Carolina, after he had a successful 4-year career as a student-athlete at Davidson College (NC) and participated as an ROTC (Army) student. To say he is building a life rooted in discipline, faith, purpose, and hard work is an understatement. As we prepare to head to Canton, Ohio, this week for Drew Brees' NFL Hall of Fame induction, Luke and I sat down for one of the deeper conversations we've had in a long time. We talk about what it takes to stay disciplined, how adversity shapes your future, why being present matters more than chasing "what's next." We then turn the tables when Luke interviews me about IMPACT-X Performance, becoming an empty nester, and the lessons I'd give my 23-year-old self. Whether you're a parent, athlete, student, entrepreneur, or simply someone striving to become your best, I hope this conversation is going to encourage you, challenge you, and inspire you. In this episode, you'll hear: Why discipline—not motivation—is the foundation for long-term success. The biggest lessons Luke learned during his first year of law school. How football prepared him for life, leadership, and handling adversity. Why staying present is one of the greatest challenges in today's world. How jiu-jitsu has become a powerful mental reset and stress reliever for Luke. The importance of surrounding yourself with people who push you to grow. What setbacks in college football taught Luke about finding his true calling. Why your hardest seasons often become the greatest preparation for your future. A behind-the-scenes look at building IMPACT-X Performance from the ground up. The difference between recreating success and creating something even greater. My thoughts on becoming an empty nester and embracing life's next chapter. The advice I'd give every young person—and my 23-year-old self—about time, purpose, and living with intention. Why family, faith, and meaningful relationships will always matter more than achievement alone. This conversation reminded me that success isn't just measured by titles, careers, or accomplishments. It's measured by the person you're becoming along the way. Watching Luke grow into the man he is today has been one of the greatest blessings of my life and I hope this episode reminds you to embrace your own journey, stay present, keep showing up with discipline, and never lose sight of what matters most. Take a moment today to appreciate the people in your life, invest in the relationships that matter, and continue becoming the person God has called you to be. If this episode encourages you, please share it with a family member, colleague, co-worker, or friend who needs it. Saints in San Diego--6 Championship Lessons from the New Orleans Saints That Apply to Your Life | Ep. 489

Last week was one I'll never forget. We had the privilege of hosting the New Orleans Saints here at IMPACT-X Performance in San Diego for an incredible week of training, recovery, fieldwork, and brotherhood. Watching these young men prepare for an NFL season reminded me of something that applies to every single one of us—whether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, coach, parent, leader, or simply someone committed to becoming your best…it takes meticulous effort, coaching, hard-work, attention to detail, and big aspirations and visions to attain your wildest dreams. So here's my question to you: What if the difference between where you are today and where you're meant to be isn't more talent...but a better mindset, greater discipline, even more attention to the little things, and having the right environment and the right coaching around you to help you attain your dreams? Here's the truth: Greatness isn't reserved just for the gifted. It's earned in the habits, the details, the preparation, and the mindset you bring every single day. So you gotta bring it! Without further ado, let's dive into what was an unforgettable week with the Saints last week. In this episode, you'll learn: Why there is always another level, no matter how successful or experienced you are. How your body language and engagement reveal your leadership before you ever say a word. Why attention to detail separates good from truly great—and how the little things build championship cultures. The critical role recovery plays in sustaining high performance, energy, and longevity and what are some of the top recovery protocols. Why you can only do so much physical work—and how visualization, preparation, and mental reps create elite performers. Why mindset matters more than ever and practical ways to "Get Your Mind Right" when life tries to knock you off course. How the habits of NFL athletes can directly impact your business, career, relationships, leadership, and everyday life. Why surrounding yourself with the right people can give you the "juice" you need to keep going when the battle gets hard. No matter what season you're in, I hope one of these lessons hits you exactly where you need it. Maybe it's a reminder to pay more attention to the details. Maybe it's prioritizing your recovery. Maybe it's simply choosing to show up with better energy. Or maybe it's hearing, once again, that your battle isn't happening to you—it's preparing you for the blessing that's on the other side. And if nothing else, I believe you're going to get some "juice" from this episode. So enjoy it! If today's episode encouraged you, inspired you, or challenged you to raise your standard, would you do me a favor? Please subscribe to the podcast, leave a 5-star review, and share this episode with someone who needs these lessons today. Why I Still Do Personal Training and Why You Must Stay Connected to Your Calling | Ep. 488

What if the very thing you're trying to grow beyond is actually the thing God created you to do? Lately, I've been getting the same question over and over again: "Todd, with everything you've got going on—gyms, franchises, masterminds, speaking, books, coaching executives... why are you still personally training clients" It's a fair question. This week, after spending every morning training the New Orleans Saints and then coaching everyone from NFL athletes to men and women in their 60s and 70s, the answer became crystal clear. Coaching isn't simply something I do... it's who I am. It's part of my calling. It's one of the purest ways I can serve others and honor the gifts God has given me. Whether it's personal training 1:1, coaching a small-group or large-group training session, or leading a retreat or live-event, I LOVE coaching! And maybe that's the question you need to ask yourself today. Not, "What do I do?" but, "Who am I?" Because when you discover your divine uniqueness and stay obedient to it, everything changes. Success isn't about drifting away from the work that made you come alive. It's about continually finding ways to live inside your calling, no matter what season you're in. In this week's episode of The IMPACT SHOW Podcast, I';m sharing my heart on why I'll always coach, why human connection matters now more than ever, and how you can rediscover the work that fills your soul instead of simply filling your calendar. Here's what you'll hear in this Episode 488: Why live coaching and human connection will always be more powerful than information alone. How stepping away from your God-given gifts can quietly steal your joy and fulfillment. Why culture isn't taught—it's caught—and how great leaders build it every single day. The importance of staying connected to the work that first made you come alive. Why your "laboratory" is where your greatest lessons, breakthroughs, and leadership are developed. How to recognize the season you're in and give it everything you've got. The difference between chasing profit and pursuing purpose. Why remembering who you are matters more than what you do. How to discover your divine uniqueness and live fully inside your assignment. Three powerful questions that will help you reconnect with your calling. At the end of the day, your greatest impact won't come from trying to become someone else. It comes from fully becoming the person God created you to be. Maybe you've experienced success. Maybe you're building something new. Maybe you've gotten busy chasing the next opportunity. My challenge for you this week is simple: reconnect with the work that makes your soul come alive. The world doesn't need another imitation. It needs you operating boldly inside your calling. If this episode encouraged you, share it with someone who needs the reminder to get back to their roots and live with even greater purpose. And if you're ready to grow deeper—in your leadership, your business, your faith, or your life—I invite you to join us inside IMPACT-X Performance, one of our live events or coaching programs, or just swing-into IMPACT-X Performance San Diego for a high-five, hug, or handshake. And yes, if you are ready for some coaching yourself, my team and I are ready to SERVE YOU. Remember... when your gifts and your calling align, you don't just make a living—you create IMPACT. Be in the Room--Why Your Next Breakthrough is One Conversation Away | Ep. 487

What if the biggest breakthrough of your life isn't waiting in another book, social media post, or YouTube video... but in a room full of people who challenge you to think bigger, dream again, and become the person you're called to be? This week, I'm coming to you "LIVE" from the Perform Better Summit in Long Beach, CA, after an unforgettable day of coaching, teaching, sweating, connecting, and pouring into hundreds of coaches, trainers, and business owners. My voice may be a little rough from coaching all day, but my heart is completely full. Here's what I know: information can be downloaded, but transformation happens in the room. When you surround yourself with the right people, have the right conversations, listen to the right messaging, and feel the vibration IN the room, your energy changes. Your perspective expands. Your vision gets bigger. One conversation can spark an idea. One connection can change your entire career, literally. One decision to invest in yourself can completely alter the trajectory of your life. If you've been feeling stuck, uninspired, or simply know there's anotherlevel inside of you waiting to be unlocked, this episode is your reminder that your next breakthrough may be one room away. In this episode, you'll learn: Why information is everywhere—but true transformation only happens through real connection. How energy becomes contagious and why the people around you elevate (or drain) your performance. Why proximity changes possibility and how getting around high-level people raises your own standards. How one conversation can create opportunities that impact your business, career, relationships, and life. Why disrupting your routine is one of the fastest ways to create new growth and fresh perspective. The importance of investing in yourself—even when it feels uncomfortable. Why accountability hits differently when you're physically present and fully engaged. How experiences create lasting memories that lead to meaningful action. Why the best live events don't simply educate—they transform who you become. Practical ways to identify the next room, event, mastermind, or coaching experience that can help unlock your next level. The truth is, life changes at intersections. It changes through conversations, relationships, mentorship, and moments where you decide to bet on yourself instead of waiting for the "perfect time" Because the perfect time doesn't exist. So my challenge to you is simple: Get in the room…the RIGHT room. Whether that's a conference, a mastermind, a church event, a coaching program, a leadership retreat, or simply surrounding yourself with people who make you better—don't wait. Invest in yourself. Show up. Ask questions. Take notes. Build relationships. You never know which conversation will change everything. If this episode encouraged you, challenged you, or inspired you to take action, would you do me a favor? Share it with a friend, a teammate, or someone who needs the reminder that their next breakthrough could be just one room away. Halftime 2026: 5 Reflections & 10 Soul-Punching Questions to Dominate Your Second Half | Ep. 486

Halftime 2026. Remember, halftime isn't the end of the game—it's where iconic coaches, leaders, and champions make adjustments. It's where winning teams regroup, refocus, and come charging out of the tunnel with a renewed fire. Maybe the first half of your year has been incredible. Maybe it's been one of the toughest seasons of your life. Or maybe it's been somewhere in between. Wherever you find yourself today, hear me loud and clear...the game is NOT over. You still have six months to create breakthrough and end 2026 in epic fashion. Six months to strengthen your faith. Six months to improve your health. Six months to restore relationships. Six months to chase the dream God placed on your heart. Six months to become the person you're truly called to be. In this special Halftime Episode, I'm sharing the 5-biggest reflections I'm personally walking through, along with 10-powerful questions that challenged me deeply. My prayer is that they challenge you too. Don't just listen to this episode...pause, reflect, answer the questions, and then go take action. Because the best may still be ahead of you. In this episode, you'll discover: Why every great comeback begins by honestly reviewing the scoreboard. How gratitude builds confidence and why celebrating your wins is essential for sustained growth. Why championship seasons always include losses—and how to transform pain into purpose instead of letting setbacks define you. The simple adjustments that can dramatically change your next six months. Why small daily disciplines truly become the "small hinges that swing big doors." How to evaluate your faith, family, fitness, finances, fun, and leadership at halftime. The importance of dreaming again, believing again, praying again, and stepping boldly into what God is calling you to do. 10 soul-punching questions that will challenge your heart, sharpen your focus, and help you finish 2026 stronger than you started. What it really means to stop surviving...and start playing to WIN the second half. The truth is this...the scoreboard at halftime doesn't determine the final outcome. Championships are won because someone chooses to make adjustments. Someone decides to believe again. Someone gets back up after being knocked down. Someone renews their faith, recommits to the process, and refuses to quit. That someone can be YOU. As you reflect on the first half of the year, don't waste this opportunity. Recover. Refocus. Reignite. Give yourself permission to celebrate what God has already done, learn from every setback, make the adjustments you know you need to make, and attack the second half with everything you've got. Your story is still being written. The best version of you is still waiting to emerge. And remember...the best is NOT behind you. The best is yet to come. If this episode challenged or encouraged you, I'd love to hear from you. Share it with a friend, post it on social media, and tag me so I can see who's committed to making the second half of 2026 their strongest yet. From Rock Bottom to Redemption--Jesse Winkler's Story of Hope, Healing & Purpose | Ep. 485

There are some conversations that simply leave a mark on your heart. This is one of them. This week's episode of the Todd Durkin IMPACT Show is one of the most vulnerable, emotional, and hope-filled conversations we've ever had. My man, Jesse Winkler, shares his remarkable story that is going to challenge you, encourage you, and remind you that no matter how far you've fallen, you're never too far gone for God to restore your life. When I say, 'Live a life worth telling a story about…what's your story?", this episode is one heckuva story! Maybe you're carrying shame. Maybe you've made mistakes you wish you could erase. Maybe you're walking through depression, anxiety, addiction, failure, or a season where you've simply lost hope. If that's you...lean in. This conversation is for you. I truly believe God has someone listening to this episode today who needs to hear these words. Jesse's willingness to share the darkest chapter of his life could very well become the light that helps someone else find their way home. No matter where you are today, remember this: your setback doesn't have to become your ending. Sometimes, it's the very place where God begins writing your greatest comeback. In this episode Jesse shares what it's like to stand on both the mountaintop and in the deepest valley. After spending years serving as a pastor, planting churches, leading people, and building what looked like a successful life from the outside, everything came crashing down. Divorce. Financial ruin. Depression. Substance abuse. Violence. Trauma. Isolation. Even suicidal thoughts. For nearly a decade, Jesse found himself trapped in darkness, believing there was no way back. But God wasn't finished with his story. Through complete surrender, genuine community, and an unwavering pursuit of healing, Jesse experienced a life-changing transformation that restored not only his faith, but his purpose. Today, Jesse serves alongside me helping lead our "Iron Sharpens Iron" movement, coaches others through our health optimization program, and is passionate about helping men and women discover the freedom he once thought was impossible. His story isn't just about surviving. It's about redemption. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why guarding your heart is one of the most important disciplines you'll ever develop. How success, busyness, and achievement can quietly pull you away from what matters most. The subtle warning signs that often lead to burnout, broken relationships, and spiritual drift. The difference between losing in your failure and learning from your failure. Why isolation is one of the enemy';s greatest weapons—and why community is one of God's greatest gifts. Jesse's raw story of battling depression, addiction, anger, and suicidal thoughts. How surrender became the turning point that completely transformed his life. Why physical health, spiritual health, and mental health all work together. How God can redeem even the darkest chapters of your life. Why your greatest pain can become your greatest purpose. The power of confession, forgiveness, and making amends. How your story could become someone else's breakthrough. One of the greatest lessons from this conversation is that failure is never meant to become your identity. As Jesse says, you're either losing in your failure or you're learning from it. Every setback carries a lesson if we're willing to receive it, and every scar can become part of the story God uses to encourage someone else. That's exactly what Jesse is doing today—using his past to rescue people who are walking through the same darkness he once knew so well. This conversation is also a powerful reminder that healing is holistic. Our spiritual life, our physical health, our mindset, and the people we surround ourselves with all work together. When we intentionally spend time in God's Word, strengthen our bodies, renew our minds, and stay connected to a life-giving community, we position ourselves for transformation. We were never meant to carry life's burdens alone. My friends, I don't know where this episode finds you today. Maybe you're in a great season, or maybe you're carrying a weight that no one else knows about. If that's you, hear me loud and clear: God is not finished with your story. No matter how many mistakes you've made, how long you've been struggling, or how far you feel you've wandered, His grace is always greater than your past. The enemy wants you to believe you're too far gone, but this conversation is proof that redemption is always possible. Jesse's journey is living proof that God doesn't waste pain. He redeems it. He restores it. And He uses it to impact the lives of others. Sometimes the very thing you wish you could erase becomes the very testimony that gives someone else hope to keep going. I pray this episode reminds you to guard your heart, stay connected to community, never stop believing in God's promises, and trust that your greatest comeback may still be ahead of you. Because when you surrender your life to Him, your story isn't over—it's just beginning. If this conversation spoke to your heart, please do NOT keep it to yourself. Share this episode with someone who needs hope today. Maybe it's a friend who's quietly struggling, a family member walking through a difficult season, a teammate who's carrying more than they're letting on, or someone who simply needs to be reminded that they're not alone. You never know how one conversation, one story, or one message of hope can change—or even save—a life. Iron Sharpens Iron: Building Strong Men Through Faith, Fitness & Community | Ep. 484

This week's episode is one that's incredibly personal to me. I'm recording it just hours after our very first "Iron Sharpens Iron" gathering at IMPACT-X Performance (San Diego), and I wanted to capture the emotion while it was still fresh. My voice may be a little hoarse, but my heart has never been more full. For years, I've felt God calling me to create something that goes beyond workouts, beyond business, and even beyond Sunday mornings. I believe people are starving for deeper faith, stronger relationships, greater purpose, and a place where they can grow together without pretending to have it all figured out. In this episode, I share why I started Iron Sharpens Iron, the powerful breakthroughs that happened during our very first gathering, and the vision I believe God has placed on my heart for where this movement is headed. My prayer is that this conversation encourages you to become stronger physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally—and ultimately inspires you to become the person God created you to be. In This Episode, You'll Learn: The five reasons I felt called to launch the Iron Sharpens Iron movement. Why authentic community is one of the greatest needs facing men today. How your faith and your fitness work together to build true strength from the inside out. Why leadership always begins with character, conviction, and a relationship with God. The biggest takeaways from our very first Iron Sharpens Iron gathering and why it impacted me so deeply. Why vulnerability isn't weakness—it's often where healing begins. How surrounding yourself with the right people can completely change the direction of your life. The vision I have for taking Iron Sharpens Iron beyond San Diego and building a movement that impacts families, communities, and generations. The 3 questions I believe every one of us needs to answer: 1. Who are you sharpening? 2. Who should you be sharpening? 3. Who is sharpening you? I truly believe this episode is about much more than launching a new program. It's about answering a call. Now more than ever, we need stronger leaders, stronger families, stronger communities, and stronger faith. We need men who are willing to step up, encourage one another, hold each other accountable, and pursue becoming the very best version of themselves—not for their own glory, but for God's. I've said it before and I'll say it again: fitness can change your body and mind, but faith can change your life. When you bring faith & fitness together, lives change. Families change. Communities change. Generations change. If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to share it with another man who needs to hear this message. Your workout partner, your son, your dad, your brother, your coach, or a friend who could use a little hope and encouragement right now. And if you're ready to be part of the Iron Sharpens Iron movement, I'd love to have you join us. P.S #1 If you're interested in joining the upcoming Iron Sharpens Iron six-week experience, text "Iron Sharpens Iron"  619.304.2216, and I'll make sure you receive all the details as we launch this movement. P.S #2. Be sure to subscribe to The IMPACT SHOW, leave a review if today's episode encouraged you, and share it with someone who needs a little more faith, purpose, and impact in their life.
