    Morning Mantra: "Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them." Life is hard. There is always going to be something that you have to "deal" with. Accepting this fact, and then employing ways to help yourself, is the key to a happy life. Don't be to ashamed to build a tribe of support around you. Don't be embarrassed to try counseling. Don't let fear stop you from trying meditation, yoga, and mindfulness exercises. Use whatever you can to help you navigate the tough times. Pride and ego have no place in your life, they only make you feel bad for having a less-than-perfect life.  Grace and acceptance are your friends. They help you understand that EVERYONE'S life has it's struggles and we ALL deserve compassion and support.     Morning Mantra: "Actions speak louder than words." We can all TALK a good game but what are you actually DOING?  I can tell you I'm going to have a peaceful day then get in my car and scream at every driver that doesn't drive the way I think they should.  How peaceful is that? You can tell your kids you love them but if you ignore them, criticize them or create a home filled with tension, how is that love? As Carl Jung said, "You are what you do, not what you say you'll do"  in an attempt to illustrate that your words don't define you, your thoughts don't either, only your actions do.  Because you can think and say all kinds of things but never do them. The best way to develop the actions that reflet your real character is to clarify who you want to become by defining your values and what you stand for.     Take Something Away First

    Morning Mantra: "Remove one unhealthy habit instead of adding another healthy one." You only have so much time in your day.  If you keep adding things to do you are more likely to NOT do some of them.  So why not start your health/healing journey by removing a bad habit. For example, if you start walking but still smoke the two will cancel each other out.  It's better to stop smoking than to add the walking.   Same for if you have too much stress and can't manage it.  Try eliminating some of the stressors before you add on mediation or another thing "to do" to help you manage your stress. Expanding your to do list will only add more stress. If you can, make a list with two columns; one for "things that are unhealthy for me" and one with "what I am doing that is good for my physical and mental health".
