Body Justice
Hi! I'm Allyson, a licensed therapist specializing in eating disorders, OCD and anxiety. My mission is to create a world where all bodies can thrive by promoting messages of body justice, recovery skills and mental health tips from the perspective of an ED/OCD therapist, survivor and activist. Social justice is an integral part of my work. I identify as a mixed race woman and I believe that all parts of our identity (race, gender, abilities, size, sexual orientation, etc) impact how we perceive our bodies and the bodies of others, unpacking this is the key to our freedom.
Such a needed podcast!

This podcast really highlights the often missed areas of nuance within the eating disorder field. There are so much social-justice related subjects that Allyson touches upon that are truly SO needed in terms of the broader discussion about eating disorders. Allyson is such a leader in our field, and her voice is such a gift. I cannot recommend her podcast highly enough!
Amazing, thoughtful, informative podcast

This podcast speaks on so many issues that the recovery community often ignores. This is one of the first podcasts about recovery I have been able to truly relate to. I am so glad to have found this intersection of social justice and eating disorders. I cannot recommend this show highly enough. Please listen!

I love this podcast! Allyson’s voice is so soothing and it’s beautifully produced. I am a big fan of Allyson’s work especially within the field of eating disorders because she has really thought-provoking conversations about transformative justice, abolition, intersectionality and more. I love this because the conversations move beyond typical and often narrow conversations about recovery. Highly recommend!!
What’s missing from most ED podcasts

Allyson does an excellent job centering justice in everything from the diverse backgrounds of guests she chooses to the nuanced conversations they have about topics that don’t get talked about enough in profit-driven systems that want to keep recovery light and fun. This podcast doesn’t shy away from real talk about the darker stuff but maintains hope and discusses how change can happen, too. I really appreciate that balance.
