506 | Every Woman Should Live Alone Atleast Once | What Living Alone Taught Me About Myself: Redefining Independence, and Making Room for the Right Kind of Love

In this episode, Tyra is reflecting on one of the most transformative chapters of her life: living alone. After five years in her apartment, she reflects on how having a space that is completely her own has taught her more than just independence. It’s taught her what she likes, what she needs, what she won’t compromise on, and what she actually wants from a partner. Because the goal of living alone isn’t to prove that you don’t need anybody. It’s to know that you can take care of yourself and still want somebody to do life with. Tyra also talks about dating while living alone, the “single tax,” hyper-independence, and why knowing yourself before sharing your life with someone else can change everything. This week’s Affirmation is: “I trust myself to build a life that feels good to me.” 3 Biggest Takeaways Living alone teaches you who you are. When you’re not constantly accommodating someone else, you get the space to discover your preferences, routines, boundaries, and what genuinely makes your life feel good. Independence doesn’t mean you don’t want partnership. You can know you’re fully capable of taking care of yourself and still want someone to share life with. The goal isn’t to need nobody—it’s to choose someone because they add to the life you’ve already built.Partnership should require compromise, not self-abandonment.Knowing yourself makes it easier to recognize what you’re willing to compromise on and what you’re not. You should be able to build a life with someone without losing the person you became on your own. 503 | Girl to Girl… Love Will Find You Soon

Girl to girl… I hope the love you pray for finds you soon. Not the surface-level kind. Not the kind that looks good but leaves you confused. I’m talking about the kind of love that lets you exhale. The kind that feels steady, safe, and certain. The kind that doesn’t make you question how you show up. In this episode, Tyra is having a real, honest conversation about being in the in-between — that space where you’re no longer going back to what hurt you, but you haven’t yet stepped into the love you desire. This week’s Affirmation is: “I will not sabatoge what I prayed for.” Tyra opens up about: Letting go of “almost” and “potential”Why going backwards is not an option when God already pulled you outThe difference between love and emotional attachmentHow inconsistency creates confusion (and why that’s not love)Trusting that your heart isn’t “too much”—it’s intentional Community Connection Links Sign up for the Community Newsletter!: www.tyrathecreative.com/podcast Join the AFBG Book Club: https://tyrathecreative.myflodesk.com/xkz6bzvn29  Shop the AFBG Merch!: http://tyrathecreative.com/merch Letters From Listeners Form: https://forms.gle/yqwdsBuRBjXQm9Xw7 Subscriber Survey: https://forms.gle/m4AD2YaYbGhd8gEv6 Resources Shop Tyra’s Favorites: https://www.amazon.com/shop/tyrathecreative Here’s a free trial of ClassPass (with 20 bonus credits!): https://shop.tyrathecreative.com/classpass  Listen to Lofi Beats for Deep Focus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfBhamgkCww&t=2222s  Defeating Doubt Playlist https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/defeating-doubt/pl.u-PDb408VtJyb1Po  Wanna give therapy a try? 502 | God Won't Allow Me to Settle For Less

Have you ever tried to make something work so badly… only for it to fall apart anyway? In this episode, Tyra talks about the uncomfortable but necessary truth: sometimes the reason it didn’t work out is because God wouldn’t let you settle. Whether it’s relationships that almost made it, opportunities that looked good on paper, friendships that slowly faded, or spaces that felt “good enough” but not aligned — this conversation is about divine disruption. The closed doors. The redirection. The feeling of “why is this so hard?” When you’re just trying to make something stick. This week’s Affirmation is: “God, raise my standards to match Your promises.” Tyra unpacks: The difference between contentment and settlingTrusting redirection, even when it bruises your egoLetting go of “almost” in order to receive alignment If you’ve been frustrated because nothing mediocre seems to last in your life… maybe that’s the point. This episode is your reminder that not everything that leaves is a loss. Sometimes it’s protection. Sometimes it’s preparation. And sometimes… it’s proof that you’re called to more. 501 | 1 Month Ago, My Life Changed Forever..

In this episode, Tyra is giving y’all a real life update and sharing where she's been. She's officially a new dog mom...again! What she thought would simply be “aww, cuddles and companionship” has turned into responsibility, structure, interrupted sleep, emotional growth, and a whole new level of self-awareness. Tyra needed companionship. She needed something to nurture. What she didn’t expect was how much it would stretch her. We’re talking about: The shock of sudden responsibilityHow your life really changes when someone depends on youThe identity shift that comes with becoming a caregiverWhy companionship sometimes comes with growing painsLearning to adjust when the blessing feels overwhelming This episode is honest. It’s tender. It’s a little “what did I just do?” and a lot of “okay… we’re growing.” If you’re in a season where your life just shifted, whether it’s a new pet, new relationship, new job, new city, or a new version of yourself, this conversation is for you. Because sometimes the answered prayer is also the stretching season. 8. Season 5 Trailer

Season 5: Do You Really Trust God? Releasing Fear & Control, Learning to Trust FULLY, and Entering your Alignment Era Because What God Has For You is Greater than your Plans.

What happens when you have faith in your prayers… but fear in your posture? 2026 marks Season 5 of the Affirmations for Black Girls Podcast, and this year feels different. Last season was about stepping into “Big Deal” energy — moving boldly, raising standards, and owning every room. But this season? It’s about what happens after the confidence. It’s about releasing control. After realizing she was carrying faith in her prayers but fear in her posture, Tyra is entering a new era — one rooted in alignment, surrender, and deeper trust in God’s timing. This season explores high-functioning anxiety, Type A tendencies, the pressure of personal timelines, and the quiet fear of “what if it doesn’t happen for me?” It’s about believing that what God has planned isn’t smaller than your dreams — it’s exceedingly, abundantly above them. No more gripping the wheel. No more negotiating with God. No more mistaking control for responsibility. Season 5 is about being anchored — in faith, in identity, and in the truth that what’s meant for you will never miss you. This year, we’re not forcing. We’re aligning. This isn’t a season of passivity. It’s a season of obedience. Of surrender and of deeper trust.
