We live in a world that is completely obsessed with weight loss, thinness, health and wellness…but we've completely lost the plot. From the glorification of extreme thinness that we are seeing everywhere right now, to the repeated message we've received that weight loss is good and weight gain is bad - it's so hard to embrace and accept our bodies as they are meant to be. And on the back end of all of this we are seeing a crisis: eating disorders. People are literally dying in their pursuit of thinness. Others are suffering from years or decades of a battle with an eating disorder that tells them they're never good enough. My guest today, Morgan DiPrimo, is on a mission to change this. A filmmaker, speaker, and eating disorder advocate, Morgan has conducted more than 400 interviews across six continents with leading clinicians, researchers, policymakers, educators, nonprofit leaders, families, and individuals with lived experience. Her work explores the intersection of mental health, media, technology, healthcare, and culture, with a focus on identifying systemic gaps and creating solutions. Morgan is currently producing Mind Over Mirror, a feature-length documentary examining the growing eating disorder crisis, the impact of social media and emerging technologies, treatment barriers, physician education gaps, and the future of prevention. Through the documentary and a planned national summit, she aims to bring together leaders from medicine, research, policy, education, media, and lived experience to drive meaningful change. Whether you personally have an eating disorder or not, this is an incredibly important conversation that you NEED to tune into (and share with others). Episode Highlights: -What Morgan learned from interviewing over 400 experts and people with lived experience regarding eating disorders and our relationship with food and our bodies. -How social media impacts our perception of our bodies and influences our behaviors. -Wellness that seem helpful on the surface, but are actually dangerous.
