#6 of the Top Ten Tour: Overcoming Cancer Fears: Emphasizing Healthy Living & Faith | Kathy Gilkey

This is a Healing Strong podcast episode featuring Kathy Gilkey, a Florida-based follicular lymphoma survivor. Kathy was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in 2017 after finding a lump under her arm. She declined chemo and radiation, instead following a protocol from a fire captain whose wife had stage four kidney cancer: 100 days of juicing (about 90% greens with apple), no solid food. Her tumor shrank from a 4 to a 1, and her oncologist told her to keep doing what she was doing. After moving from California to Arkansas, the stress and emotional upheaval of leaving her home church and community led to depression, and the cancer returned as a spinal tumor. She did 10 rounds of radiation but had a severe reaction when starting chemo (throat closing, numbness) and stopped, returning to diet-based healing plus emotional/inner healing counseling. She's now been in remission for three months, with oncologist visits every six months. Other points covered: she still juices (using an inexpensive Black & Decker juicer, running pulp through twice for more yield), largely avoids sugar and carbs while having added back some meat and fruit, and her husband hasn't adopted her diet but is supportive and healthy in his own way (they cook separate meals). Her background as a florist exposed her to chemical sprays, and she later became a church counselor. She's now launching a new Healing Strong support group in Englewood, Florida, hosted at a faith-based community facility called EPIC. She closes by encouraging newly diagnosed listeners with Jeremiah 29:11 and a message of trusting God and avoiding negativity. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. We bring this hope through educational materials, webinars, guest speakers, conferences, community small group support and more. #7 of the Top Ten Tour: Detoxification, Immune Therapies & Environmental Toxins in Rising Young Adult Cancer | Dr. Tony Jimenez

Dr. Jimenez cites a 2024 Lancet study reporting a 79% rise in cancer among young adults globally between 1990 and 2019, with a 28% increase in deaths, across 17 cancer types. He attributes this to environmental toxins, obesity, diet, and early-life exposures, and names three top toxicities he targets in treatment: aluminum, glyphosate, and EMF radiation.  He walks through daily detox practices (coffee enemas, shilajit, hydrogen water) and practical EMF-reduction steps (Wi-Fi off at night, phone away from the bed, grounding sheets).  He explains when Hope4Cancer still uses chemo, radiation, or surgery — low-dose IPT chemo for tumor debulking, targeted "spot radiation" for pain control, and stents for obstructions — despite the clinic's non-toxic-first philosophy.  He then details the clinic's "seven key principles," spending the most time on emotional/spiritual health (his upcoming book, Emotions and Cancer, out March 2025) and introduces Davida, a new five-part bioimmunotherapy meant to upregulate the immune system without targeting specific cancer-cell receptors (unlike checkpoint inhibitors such as Opdivo/Keytruda).  Host Jim, a stage IV melanoma survivor, shares his own remission story, and Dr. Jimenez recommends he ask his oncologist about the Signatera circulating-tumor-cell test for ongoing monitoring. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. #8 of the Top Ten Tour: Confronting Stage Four Prostate Cancer Through Faith & Holistic Healing | David & Kathi Peters

Part of the Top 10 Tour: 100K Strong When David Peters was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, he and his wife Kathi made an immediate decision: go all-natural. As professional filmmakers, they're now documenting their own healing journey — including treatment at Hope4Cancer in Mexico, biological dentistry to remove mercury amalgams, and the RGCC ("Greek") test that pinpoints which supplements are actually working. Recorded live at Healing Strong's 10th anniversary conference in Houston, this conversation covers the fear of going against an oncologist's orders, the emotional toll (and unexpected gift) of a diagnosis, why community is essential on a healing journey, and what it means to choose to heal rather than fight. David and Kathi also share how their upcoming documentary aims to answer the three questions every newly diagnosed person asks: Can I do it? How do I do it? Will it help me? This episode originally aired as part of our regular series and is being re-shared as one of the most-loved conversations from the I Am Healing Strong podcast archive. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. #9 of the Top Ten Tour: Healing Advanced Cancer Through Holistic Approaches | Dr. Francisco Contreras, Oasis of Hope Clinic

What if healing depends as much on your mindset and spirit as it does on your treatment plan? In this episode, host Jim Mann sits down with Dr. Francisco Contreras, who is the director, president, and chairman of Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. He talks about his new book, The Art and Science of Undermining Cancer.  Dr. Contreras shares the philosophical foundations his father built the hospital on 60 years ago, explains where chemotherapy and immunotherapy each earn their place in treatment, and dives into cutting-edge developments like dendritic cell vaccines and CAR T-cell therapy. But the heart of this conversation is bigger than protocols: it's about fear, faith, and why Dr. Contreras believes every improved outcome, big or small, is a miracle that has to be maintained. Jim also shares more of his own stage-four melanoma journey and how his mindset shifted after diagnosis. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. #10 of the Top Ten Tour: Stage 4 Prostate Cancer & the Unexpected Blessings | Brad and Becky Corley

Summary: Brad Corley was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer (Gleason 9) on December 10, 2021 — one day after retiring from a 38-year career. After bone scans and consultation with a New Orleans oncologist, the cancer was deemed metastatic and incurable but treatable; doctors gave him a 3-7 year outlook. Brad and his wife Becky had already begun shifting toward healthier living before the diagnosis, and immediately doubled down — adopting a raw, plant-based diet and daily carrot juicing (inspired by Chris Beat Cancer/Square One) starting just two days after the diagnosis. Brad underwent hormone therapy and surgery through an MD Anderson clinical trial. Over two and a half years, he dropped from about 240 to about 170 pounds, regained energy, and his oncologist reportedly told him he shows no evidence of disease. The couple credits their faith, gratitude practice, and community support — they started a Healing Strong group in Mobile, Alabama, with around 12-15 regular members, many of whom don't have cancer but joined proactively. The episode closes with their message to newly diagnosed listeners: lean on faith, build a supportive community, and pursue lifestyle changes alongside medical treatment. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. 141: When the Doctor Runs Out of Options, You Find New Ones. Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer | Melissa Rausch

Melissa Rausch of Simi Valley, California, was diagnosed in 2019 with triple-positive breast cancer, one of the more aggressive types, and did everything her doctors told her to do.  She endured 16 weeks of hard chemo, hospitalizations, a lumpectomy with unclear margins, and radiation with severe side effects. Then in November 2020, the cancer spread to her bones and her oncologist said the word she wasn't ready to accept: terminal.  Instead of giving up, Melissa said "with all due respect" and started knocking on other doors. She dove into books, found holistic practitioners, overhauled her diet overnight, and eventually connected with Chris Wark's Square One program and the Healing Strong community.  Through a dual path of faith, integrative care, and persistent self-advocacy, including fighting her own oncologist to return to a treatment that had actually worked. Melissa is now in complete remission. She co-founded and now leads the HealingStrong group in Simi Valley, praying for each member by name daily. HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE.
