Dr. Betsy Rippentrop and Kate Moreland

Dr. Betsy Rippentrop, a psychologist, and Kate Moreland, a lawyer and CEO, are having conversations about how women have been conditioned to lose connection to their inner voice and natural instincts, and how the time has come for us to re-wild. Both grew up as overachievers and perfectionists and took traditional career paths, following the rules society set for success. This required a loss of authenticity and a disconnection to their own wild essence. We explore questions and tools around how best to listen to our inner voice, re-wild ourselves, and live the most authentic life, where we thrive instead of survive.

    212. The Rewilding Path

In today’s episode, Betsy & Kate reflect on the 4-week online live rewilding course they recently taught, the lessons learned, the stories told, and the 4-step framework that emerged through the experience. In today’s episode we talk about:  What exactly is the wild woman archetype and is she even real? How the wild woman archetype often shows up at midlife (even though a young woman in the course taught us all that rewilding can happen much earlier). The 4-step non-linear framework that we believe the rewilding process aligns with (The Call, The Conditioning, The Reclamation, The Repeat). The important question of rewilding: What are you longing for? How we don’t live a life, rather we live a pattern and what this means on the rewilding path.   Interested in our online Rewilding Course?  It’s not too late to experience it! We taught a 4-week live online rewilding course in July 2026 to 50+ women.  It was an amazingly transformational container that allowed people to engage in 4 things. Understand the call we receive to rewild Unravel the conditioning that has kept us distance from our inner wild or essence Reclaim the parts of self that got splintered away over the years, including our bodies, creativity, intuition, emotions Commit to a rewilded life If you would like to take this course on your own, join anytime.  $199.  All the details here: https://dryogamomma.com/keepherwild/ Other Episodes You Might Like:  Episode 202: The Severing of the Wild Woman Episode 183: Anger: Still Channeling the Fire Episode 152: Wise Women Are Waking Up….But What About the Men? 211. Sarah Jenks: Returning to the Sacred Feminine

In today’s episode we talk to Sarah Jenks, an ordained Priestess whose work is centered around integrating Sacred Feminine wisdom and ceremony into our everyday lives.  We loved Sarah’s perspective on the Sacred Feminine, the importance of it now in these changing times, and how normal and healing it feels to reconnect to it. We talk about: Her amazing first 10 years playing in the woods and making potions in nature outside of Boston. How life shifted at the age of 10 when Sarah began to attend Weight Watchers and found herself in a restriction-binge eating cycle for 13 years. The Dove chocolate moment when Sarah realized she was not well around her relationship to food, and her decision to accept she would be overweight but would have fun anyway – and how this began to break the cycle and led to an emotional eating company she founded and ran until 2017. When Sarah first discovered feminine ceremony, and how this completely shifted her path toward studying and becoming a Priestess. How the sacred feminine has been deliberately erased in our history and the impact this has had on women. Her husband’s response to her announcement that she was “magical” and that she wanted a non-traditional path and non-patriarchal relationship. The temple she co-founded with her best friend and the ceremonies she leads every 6 weeks for women in person and online where she helps people “meet their soul”.   About Sarah Jenks: Sarah is a teacher, coach, speaker, and guide in the Sacred Feminine space whose work centers on helping women remember their brilliance, reclaim their bodies, heal internalized patriarchy, and reconnect with a more intuitive, cyclical, and authentic way of living. Her work bridges spirituality, embodiment, relationships, leadership, and personal transformation. Sarah’s own journey included struggles with body image, emotional eating, disconnection from purpose, and feeling flat and exhausted despite external success. Through studying the Sacred Feminine and women’s wisdom traditions, she developed programs and teachings focused on helping women return to themselves rather than becoming someone new. 209. Taboo Topics with Nicole Johnston

About Nicole Nicole Johnston’s Taboo Topics is an invitation to bring into the light the conversations women have often been conditioned to keep hidden. Drawing on decades of corporate leadership and executive coaching, Nicole argues that many of the barriers women experience at work are not personal shortcomings but cultural patterns that have remained largely unnamed. Rather than encouraging women simply to “lean in” or become more confident, she invites women to understand the invisible systems shaping their experiences and reclaim their voice within them. In This Episode We Discuss: How growing up with educator parents, playing sports, and learning to advocate for herself after losing hearing in one ear shaped Nicole’s leadership journey. Why sports matter for girls and the powerful connection between athletics, confidence, and leadership. Nicole’s path from Division I athlete to leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, including 19 moves and international experiences. The car accident that became a wake-up call and ultimately led her toward coaching and developing others. We Explore: Why perfectionism can feel like a “cozy blanket” and how resilience helps women take risks and grow. The importance of giving ourselves permission instead of waiting for it from others. Emotional labor, invisible work, and the unequal distribution of responsibility at home and work. The exhaustion of maintaining a persona and how women can become more intentional with their energy. Why celebrating other women is a powerful alternative to judgment. The “micro cuts” of sexism that women experience throughout their lives and careers. Compensation inequities and why women should always negotiate their salary. Nicole’s Advice for Younger Women: Respect the women who came before you and fought for the opportunities you have today. It’s okay to make mistakes, change directions, and choose a different path. Protect your time and energy early because the expectations you set often become the expectations others hold. This conversation is a thoughtful and practical exploration of the invisible forces shaping women’s lives and a reminder that many of the challenges women experience are cultural patterns to question—not personal failures to fix. 208. Magnificent Sex: Great Lovers Are Made

At the start of season 4 we agreed that we had to take more risks and have more edgy conversations. This interview definitely lived up to our intention for season 4! We were surprised when a guest reached out to us to share her story of how she was having the best sex of her life in her 70s.  After a short conversation with her, we agreed that we needed to do a full interview to let her share her story and her wisdom. This interview had us laughing, and above all, was highly educational and inspiring. Our guest requested we keep her identity anonymous. Please note: this conversation is not suitable for children or youth, so if you listen to this in the car with kids in the back, pop in some headphones. We talk about: Her early years that taught her to remain virginal, and her first sexual experience at 19. Her years as a hippy, and how retrospectively she can see that even though she believed at the time she was free, how even the hippy movement was patriarchal in nature. How her life evolved as a wife, mother and eventually a widow and the years she spent alone. Her surprise at meeting her current partner and the amazing sexual life that began to emerge. The power of presence, eye contact, communication, laughter, and playfulness in bed. Myths around sex, including that good sex declines with age. 207. Shannon Algeo: The Power In Your Hands

In today’s episode we welcome back psychotherapist and thought leader Shannon Algeo for his second visit to the podcast. We explore Shannon’s new book, “The Power in Your Hands” about our relationship to our smart phones and his quest to liberate himself from his own attachment to technology. We talk about: How nature, biking, and music all shaped Shannon’s early years and how they continue to nourish his soul when he feels the despair of digitization. When Shannon found himself in his early twenties as an influencer getting thousands of followers and likes, and the light and the shadow of this experience. His personal reckoning with the attachment to his phone and how he faced his own compulsive tendencies around this. The research about people’s attachment style and how they relate to their phone. Several stories about his time in France while writing this book (one with the Mona Lisa) that revealed to him society’s relationship to their phones and the anger he felt. The experiments he has done about going offline, including what he calls the “Sacred Slow” digital fast, that have changed his relationship to technology and to life. 206. A Fresh Take on Perfectionism

What if perfectionism isn’t something we need to overcome—but something we need to understand differently? In this episode of Tend HER Wild, we explore perfectionism through a new lens. Rather than viewing it as a flaw to fix, we discuss the difference between healthy striving and the forms of perfectionism that keep us disconnected from our authentic selves. We share our own stories of perfectionism, examine how culture shapes our expectations, and explore why perfectionism is often less about achievement and more about managing anxiety and seeking safety.  In todays episode we draw on the work of Brené Brown, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, and Marion Woodman, and we unpack: The difference between adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism Why high standards aren’t the problem The role of the inner critic How perfectionism impacts women, creativity, and leadership The connection between perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, and depression Why socially prescribed perfectionism may be the most harmful form How perfectionism can keep us from creating the life we’re longing for As Clarissa Pinkola Estés reminds us, we don’t need perfect strength—we need adequate strength to be ourselves. Sometimes 75% is enough. A flower doesn’t need to be fully open to be blooming. If you’ve been feeling disconnected from yourself, navigating burnout or grief, constantly over-performing, or longing for a more authentic and intuitive life, this conversation is for you.
