    Men and Money and Dating

If we don’t ask the right questions, we’re never going to get to the truth of any situation. And when it comes to dating, that works in multiple ways. If we’re not curious about someone, we can build an image of them that doesn’t truly reflect who they are, and that is a recipe for disaster. If we’re not brave enough to ask about our red lines, we’re just going to be disappointed further down the line. In this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker, matchmaker Gina Hendrix opens with a personal story about a man who, convinced he already knew exactly who she was, tried to start a relationship with her.  Only he'd never actually asked her a single question about herself, not her interests, her values, or how she actually lives day to day.  Men and women fall into the same trap all the time: projecting a fully formed picture onto someone before ever really getting to know them, then getting disappointed when the real person doesn't match the fantasy. From there it's straight into calls. One caller opens up about a long-distance relationship where the split cost of a hotel left her feeling less than satisfied, another raises the same theme from a different angle, wondering how to say "I'm not comfortable with that" around money and effort without over-explaining herself. A caller asks how to ask about a man's lifestyle without sounding like she's a gold-digger, another processes a date that didn't go anywhere, and Gina walks through how to get clarity on a phone call before a date ever happens. We also get some top tips on getting the most from the dating apps. The takeaway from this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker: don't build a version of someone in your head and fall for that instead of the real person, and don't let anyone do the same to you. Ask real questions, stay curious, and keep those standards high. New episodes every Thursday. Subscribe so you never miss the truth about men and dating. The Bumble Bio Red Flag

We can all put our best foot forward when everything’s going well. But how we react to the small stuff usually tells us a lot more about a person. How you handle a curveball, not a crisis, just the little stuff, a messed-up reservation, a late Uber, a plan that falls apart last minute, can be very telling.  Matchmaker Gina Hendrix has seen this play out hundreds of times, and shares two very different reactions to the exact same kind of hiccup. One took it in their stride, the other cancelled a date. The lesson? Watch how your date reacts to minor setbacks, but watch yourself too. Do you want to be the type of person who’s derailed or the type who rolls with the punches? This episode of Secret’s They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker is packed with calls from women seeking dating advice.  One caller wants to know what's normal on Bumble these days when so few men fill out a bio. And there are red flags to look out for. Once you know what they are, you'll stop wasting time on low-level men. Another caller replays a strange moment from a great first date, when her date jumped up mid-conversation to say an oddly warm goodbye to two strangers, and Gina answers a question many of us have: what are the clearest signs a man is only looking for something casual? We discuss wearing fancy jewelry on a date, slightly cringe dating profile pictures, and what putting in effort actually looks like. And then the topic of libido. How do you ask, in a ladylike way, whether his libido is compatible with yours? The takeaway from this episode of Secret’s They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker: don't sweat the small stuff. Nobody remembers how you handled things when everything went perfectly, they remember how you showed up when it didn't. All you can control is yourself, so choose grace, choose to pivot, and be the woman who's unforgettable because she's cool under pressure. Gina's "One In A Million Glow-Up Experience", a goddess weekend in Los Angeles with Gina Hendrix is back. This isn't some regular makeover, it's a takeover! Why the Early Days Mean Nothing

Sometimes life is hard, sometimes bad things happen to good people - but the answer is never to hide away. This episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell A Matchmaker is about dusting yourself off and going again. Whether that’s in the dating world or in life more generally. Matchmaker Gina Hendrix shares two very personal stories from her early years in LA, that almost derailed her, but instead helped shape the woman she would become. And the link to dating is clear, yes you might have one bad experience on the apps, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try again - a little wiser, but still the woman you are in your heart. In an lively Q&A, we hear from a woman who can't verify her date’s backstory, another who’s worried about a potential partner’s political views, and we talk about stepping back and letting a man lead rather than doing the work yourself.  The takeaway from this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell A Matchmaker: don't let fear be the reason you miss out on the love you deserve. Ask smarter questions, trust your gut, lean on your community, and keep showing up, because the moment you let fear keep you inside, that's the moment it wins. New episodes every Thursday. What Men Really Want, with David Matthews

Our special guest on Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker is David Matthews, author of “Every Man Sees You Naked: An Insider's Guide to How Men Think.” David is a men’s dating coach and he’s here for a candid conversation about how men actually think, communicate, and approach dating.  He and matchmaker Gina Hendrix cover why the idea that men are intimidated by successful women is mostly a myth, why directness gets better results than hints or games, and a surprisingly practical trick for getting past the polite "yes" answer everyone gives to "are you looking for a relationship?" The Q&A covers a wide range of topics. There's a discussion on what to do with unexpected likes and messages from couples on the apps, and how to handle it when someone you've politely declined pushes back and demands feedback. One caller opens up about juggling health challenges and dating burnout, another wrestles with a small but persistent "ick" from an otherwise great match, and we try to answer the big question: is true love real? All of this is couched in some self-reflection and a realization that the more responsibility and hustle a woman carries, the more their softness and femininity can quietly get buried under it.  The takeaway from this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker, with Gina Hendrix: the world only sees us the way we present ourselves to it, so it's worth asking whether you're showing up to dates as the guarded, hardened version of yourself or the lighter, more open one.  CHAPTERS: (00:00) Introduction (04:01) Rejecting Without Debate (08:42) Introducing David Matthews (10:31) How Men Think Today (14:28) Texting Intentions And Truth (17:29) Getting Honest Relationship Answers (19:59) Awkward Intimacy Questions (23:22) Apps, Love And Better Date Questions

Why You Keep Pushing Great Men Away

People rarely sabotage promising relationships because of what actually happened, they sabotage them because of the story they told themselves about what happened.  In this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker, with Gina Hendrix, we’re having a reality check - is the story you’re telling yourself the truth, or one you’ve made up? Gina walks through a recent matchmaking date that went sideways because both people showed up carrying baggage and skepticism instead of just meeting who was in front of them. Dating can mean playing the long game, learning about someone and really getting to know them, rather than creating stories about people we don’t really know that well yet. In this quick fire Q&A, we hear from one woman who wants to know if seeing familiar faces resurface on dating apps after a decade is a red flag, another admits she can no longer get past a slightly feminine voice, and we hear from a woman seeking advice about a date she doesn't want to go - but it's due to happen tonight! Then we hear from a woman who found herself in an uncomfortable situation - a man she'd only just started video chatting with peppered her with explicit sexual questions, we also discuss age gaps - one caller’s been told she is too old, another worries her date is only with her because she’s young. And we discuss the dangers playing detective and over-analyzing for potential red flags. The big takeaway from this episode of Secret’s They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker: dating isn't about eliminating uncertainty as fast as possible, it's about learning to navigate it. When anxiety shows up, don't let it become your storyteller. Stay curious, gather real information, and let people reveal themselves before you decide what their story means. What is Sexy?

Sometimes a date can take a turn for the worse, and it’s not entirely clear why. In the early stages, it doesn’t matter too much. If you’re not that interested and not 100% invested, just move on - life really is too short. But matchmaker Gina Hendrix says often, when we look back on why things took a turn, we can learn a lot - and more times than not it comes down to one thing: we weren’t curious enough. Not detective-style curiosity, trying to figure out if he's lying or a match on paper, but real, innocent interest in another human being.  Not only does that curiosity give us more opportunity to spot a mis-match early on, it’s also a sexy, magnetic quality in a person. The theme of genuine curiosity comes up throughout this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker. One caller asks why men feel intimidated by her lifestyle - have they been properly pre-qualified? Another asks how to pick profile prompts that spark real depth instead of surface-level small talk. And we hear from one woman who wants to know why some men go flakey after a couple of conversations. The conversation turns to whether where you live makes dating more difficult, why dating and manners in general seem to have declined, and how to know when a divorced or widowed man is really ready to start dating again. The big takeaway from this episode of Secrets They'll Only Tell a Matchmaker with Gina Hendrix: bring your energy and your curiosity everywhere you go, because that, more than anything, is what people remember. Are Your Friends Keeping You Single?

A positive attitude can go a long way, and that is particularly true when it comes to dating. We all have stories to tell of bad dates, being let down by men we had high hopes for, and wading through bad profiles on the dating apps. But getting downbeat about it all isn’t going to help you find love. And a harsh truth is, being around cynical people can rub off on us. Matchmaker Gina Hendrix knows this all too well and how it can lead some women to “go into the cave”. It may seem attractive in the short-term, but once you’re in, it’s hard to get out. In this episode of Secrets They’ll Only Tell a Matchmaker, she flips the script by imagining a hopeful man surrounded by bitter friends telling him women can't be trusted, and makes the case that surrounding yourself with people who've given up on love is one of the fastest ways to sabotage your own dating life. In this lively Q&Q, we hear from a woman who wants to know if buying a boat will make her seem less feminine, how tweaking the hobbies listed on your profile can completely change the caliber of matches the algorithm sends you, and we learn why pre-qualifying is an ongoing process. The conversation turns to a pilot who won’t commit, how a snapback led to an increase in effort from one potential suitor, and why sometimes friendship is better than a relationship. The big takeaway from this episode of Secrets They'll Only Tell a Matchmaker with Gina Hendrix: protect your circle, because the wrong table will quietly drag you down before you even notice it's happening - learn the lesson of the “crab mentality”! Whether you’re going on dates, in a relationship, or meeting men on the dating apps, one thing remains constant: you need to be true to yourself. It’s a rule matchmaker Gina Hendrix has lived by for years and one she’s shared with hundreds of women who are navigating the world of dating. By being true to yourself, you are much less likely to overlook the red flags that often show up when dating. This week’s special guest has the same advice about being true to yourself, and some tips on finding your voice. Helen Polise, aka The Muthership, has built up more than one million followers on Tik Tok alone, and she’s done it by being honest and open with the people who follow her. Helen is a wife, mother, cancer survivor, and social media sensation. She talks about how showing up authentically on camera can change everything, from your dating life to your confidence.  She also shares how social media helped her get more comfortable in her own skin, and why so many women freeze up at the idea of putting themselves out there, whether that's on an app profile or in a video.  Helen also joins the Q&A, with listeners sharing questions about when to start dating after a divorce, how losing a job can affect your dating confidence, and when to walk away from a man who won’t commit. We also hear about a billionaire who insists his younger partner needs to be financially independent, get tips on the best photo-formula for success on Bumble, and the story of the date where there is no chemistry but there is bad breath.
