Series 5, Episode 4 – This Jungian Life’s popular podcast comes on board The Dream Boat.

Dave teams up with Laura again to chat about this episode’s guest, the celebrated podcast presenter of This Jungian Life, Lisa Marchiano, and the launch of TJL’s new book Dream Wise.    And The Dreamboat is pleased to announce that Lisa will be coming to the Dream Research Institute – DRI Centre for Dream Studies in London, UK on May 9 – limited tickets will be on sale via the DRI website. Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know when registration opens.    Here’s the dedicated signup link: http://eepurl.com/bzBNW5   In this episode Laura and Lisa discuss Jungian concepts for dreaming which are covered in the new book written by Lisa alongside her podcast co-hosts and friends, Joseph Lee and Deborah Stewart.    Lisa offers some great tips for remembering dreams, including research that points to vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) for improving dream vividness and recall. The book also includes a series of clever dream interpretation techniques which are entitled ‘keys’.    Laura and Lisa explore the wonderful notion of the ‘Dream Maker’, and how we all relate to this aspect of dreaming  - the dream authority which seems to care for us, guide us in dreams, as well as admonish us. What is this energy?   They finally chat through a listener’s fascinating Dream of the Week about getting married in later life and how she swaps her bridegroom-to-be for a fox in her bed, before waking up while in the dream to shoo it out. They discuss wild animals in dreams and their sexual readings, lucidity and the strange concept of a dream within a dream. Does this represent the psyche asking for something coming into consciousness to be dealt with?   Your dreams are worth inquiring about too! Series 5, Episode 3: Dream Healing With Sound: Famous Jungian Dreamer takes us on a sound journey

Internationally renowned Jungian dreamer Sven Doehner PhD, protégé of James Hillman, comes on board to discuss the healing power of dreams using sound. Laura and Melinda also attend one of his acclaimed workshops, held at the DRI in London, UK and report back on the results.    Sven talks how healing can materialize not just by playing with dream imagery and diving into meanings and symbolism but how sound can form a significant part of the healing process. Melinda and Laura discuss this and how they were impressed with Sven’s techniques during the London workshop.   Sven, a Mexican, reveals how a family dream about the 1937 Hindenburg Airship disaster affected his family and how a personal dream when he met James Hillman by chance in a US bookshop resulted in Hillman, a student of Jung, taking him on as a client and student. Sven discusses his work as a Transpersonal psychotherapist and facilitator and how his workshops and retreats have taken him round the world.   Sven Doehner, PhD, MFA, is a 72 year old Psychoanalyst trained in C.G. Jung´s Analytical Psychology, with James Hillman in Archetypal Psychology, as a Somatic Movement Educator, and as a Transpersonal therapist. His exploration, involvement and experience with native Ancestral Healing and Spiritual practices – begun in 1984 – is blended into his therapeutic work with others, as is his expertise in working with the Voice: “The Listening Voice”. in which he guides into discovering the vocal form of what is moving within them in a moment of particular tension. His intention is to dissolves knotts, opens space, and gives form to something new in order to restore, movement in the “being” of a person´s life. He calls this innovative proposal “The Sound Imagination”.   www.svendoehner.com Insta: @svendoehner

Series 5, Episode 2: I’m Dreaming Of A Dickens Christmas - Why did Dickens always sleep facing north?

In this festive conversation, Laura and Melinda are joined by author Lucinda Dickens Hawksley, Dickens’ great, great, great granddaughter to explore the profound influence of Charles Dickens on Christmas traditions, dreaming and the cultural significance of his work, particularly 'A Christmas Carol.'    They delve into Dickens' complex relationship with sleep and dreams, which is often explored in his novels with their themes of redemption and social responsibility, and his bizarre sleeping habits. Dickens suffered from parasomnias – sleeping disorders like hallucinations and nightmares, which are the hallmark feature of ‘A Christmas Carol’ when the ghost of Marley terrorises his business partner Ebenezer Scrooge in his sleep on Christmas Eve, with dramatic consequences.   Lucinda, biographer and Victorian historian, shares insights into Victorian Christmas celebrations and personal traditions, emphasizing the importance of connection and joy during the holiday season. They discuss the enduring legacy of Dickens' storytelling and its relevance in today's world and Lucinda’s new book, ‘A Victorian Christmas’ as well as her earlier book ‘Dickens and Christmas’.   Your dreams are worth inquiring about too! Yet more dream questions answered!

Your dream questions... answered. It's the end of Series 4, and before we take a little break, we take the opportunity to answer more of the questions sent in. Questions like: What does it mean when I hear music in a dream?  And (the classic): Why do I keep dreaming about my ex? As ever, the answers lead us down some suprising, interesting, and sometimes amusing paths.    Sound bites:  "Music is a way of relating to those subtle aspects of ourselves that don't have to go through the cognitive filter." "Dreaming about an ex may indicate unfinished business, projection of certain qualities onto the ex, or a need to revisit and resolve emotions associated with the past relationship."   Your dreams are worth inquiring about too!
