Your Social Media Manager Is Not Your Sales Team

Are you expecting social media to make sales for your business? What if your problem isn't marketing, but what happens after someone shows interest? In this episode, Shelby gets real about the difference between marketing and sales and why understanding both is essential for business growth. Shelby explains that social media is primarily a tool for brand awareness. It helps people discover your business, understand what you offer, and see how you can solve their problems. However, turning that awareness into revenue requires a sales process that moves potential customers from engagement to action. Drawing from her experience with Shelby Clement Marketing and Connie’s Impressions, she shares practical examples of how to create strategic content, showcase customer experiences, identify upselling opportunities, and follow up with potential buyers before they move on to a competitor. In this episode, you'll discover: Why social media marketing and sales serve different purposes. How to turn engagement into qualified leads. Why quick responses can make a difference in converting buyers. How customer stories help potential clients see themselves working with you.Why upselling and understanding your products matter. How to build a sales funnel that supports your marketing efforts. Why business owners need a clear strategy for turning attention into revenue. Whether you're a business owner, entrepreneur, or marketer, this episode will help you better understand how marketing and sales can work together to support sustainable growth. The takeaway? Getting people to notice your business is only the beginning. You also need a clear process to capture their interest, follow up, and make it easy for them to buy. What Nobody Tells You About Hiring

Entrepreneurship isn't as glamorous as social media makes it look. In this episode, Shelby gets honest about what it really means to run and grow a business after buying her parents’ company, Connie’s. She talks about managing a team, leading employees older than her, setting clear standards, implementing SOPs, hiring before she felt completely ready, and learning how to create a stronger foundation for growth. More importantly, Shelby talks about the parts of entrepreneurship people don't always share — the stress, difficult decisions, employee challenges, customer expectations, and the responsibility that comes with being the person in charge. Because building a business isn't just about sales and freedom. It's about people, systems, leadership, accountability, and creating a standard your whole team can follow. If you're building a business or thinking about becoming an entrepreneur, tune in for a real and honest conversation about what happens behind the scenes. You Are Gonna Be In The Red

The Shelby Clement Podcast is officially BACK and Shelby is starting this new chapter by getting completely honest about what life has looked like behind the scenes. After taking a break from the podcast, Shelby returns with a very different season of life to talk about: motherhood, running two businesses, buying her family’s 35-year-old business, growing a team, learning the numbers, building systems, and figuring out how to balance all of it without pretending she has everything figured out. Earlier this year, Shelby bought Connie’s Impressions, the business her parents started 35 years ago. What began as an idea to buy the business, grow it, and eventually sell it has quickly become something much more meaningful. In this first episode back, Shelby shares what those first five months have actually been like. When she bought the business, there were five employees. Today, the team has grown to roughly 15–18 people, including part-time employees. Along the way, Shelby and her team have been working on everything from inventory and systems to SOPs, team structure, company culture, and the financial side of running a brick-and-mortar business. She also opens up about something she didn’t fully understand before stepping into the acquisition: just how much there is to learn when you become responsible for an entire business. But this episode isn’t just about business. Shelby also talks about what it feels like to build businesses while raising two young kids and trying to be a present mom and wife. She shares the reality of early mornings, late nights, dropping the kids off, picking them up, working around family life, and dealing with the guilt that can come with feeling like you’re never doing enough in one area because you’re focused on another. And perhaps the biggest shift of all is how Shelby now sees the future of Connie’s. This episode is an honest introduction to the next chapter of the podcast, a place where Shelby will talk about the wins, the failures, the stressful moments, the lessons, the business decisions, motherhood, and the reality of figuring things out as she goes. If you’re building a business, thinking about buying one, growing a team, navigating motherhood and entrepreneurship, or simply trying to figure out your own next chapter, this episode is for you.
