  • Permission to Hurt: Healing Without Losing Your Faith (with Pastor Benny Ho)

Permission to Hurt: Healing Without Losing Your Faith (with Pastor Benny Ho)

Have you ever been in pain and someone tried to explain it, rebuke it, cast it out, or pray it away… before simply sitting beside you? Have you ever been told you just needed more faith—when your body was exhausted? Or left a healing space feeling more ashamed than whole? I think in many church spaces—especially in Asian culture—there can be so many voices telling us what God is saying. What our pain means. What we should do next. And somewhere along the way, we quietly lose permission to simply hurt. But what if healing sometimes looks like: permission to lament. permission to wrestle. permission to seek therapy or medicine. permission to discern. permission to not be instantly fixed. In this week's episode of Tender & Wild, I sit down with Ps Benny Ho — founder of Faith Community Church in Perth, mentor to church leaders across Asia and beyond, and honestly, one of the safest leaders I know. He's the kind of person who carries authority without ego, wisdom without harshness, conviction without control, and somehow makes you feel safe enough to exhale. Together, we explore what trauma-informed, integrated faith can actually look like — and what happens when pain is mishandled in church spaces. We talk about: • Why trying to "fix" pain can deepen trauma • Why faith is not measured by visible outcomes • Prayer, therapy and medicine working together • Boundaries, agency and spiritual safety • Why some suffering cannot be quickly explained • What apology can look like in church leadership • And why you are allowed to walk away from unsafe systems If church hurt you in the middle of your pain—I really hope this conversation feels like a balm to your soul. You are not weak. You are not rebellious. You are not faithless because you are still hurting. And you do not have to choose between faith and safety. You deserve both.

Women are not small men(女性不是缩小版的男性)。 The Last Day of Summer - Fiona Huang

E203 - Dr. Justin Sledge: The Occult, Witch Trials & the Forbidden Teachings of Gnosticism

Dr. Justin Sledge is a scholar of philosophy and Western esotericism, and the voice behind the YouTube channel Esoterica, which has grown to over a million subscribers. He has spent his career studying the traditions that history tried to erase: Gnosticism, Kabbalah, Hermeticism, witchcraft, and alchemy. What We Dive Into: 1. Classical skepticism is not about debunking or disbelief. It is about bracketing your personal investment long enough to let the material speak for itself. 2. Newton wrote more on alchemy and the occult than on calculus. Descartes arrived at his famous method through a mystical dream. Stripping these facts from the story of modernity has cost us access to some of the most important spiritual technologies ever developed. 3. Every other starting point, certainty, comfort, doctrine, conclusions, has a gutter waiting at the end of it. Awe keeps the garden of curiosity alive. Know Thyself, but not by yourself.

The Most Eye-Opening Conversation on Marriage & Love You Will Ever Hear (From #1 Divorce Lawyer)

Mel calls today’s episode one of the most moving, meaningful, and transformational conversations ever to happen on the podcast.  She says it is THE most important relationship advice that she has ever heard and you will ever hear.  Today’s guest, James Sexton, is a world-renowned authority on relationships, but coming from a perspective you may not expect.  He’s the author of the bestselling book How to Stay in Love. But he’s also one of the top divorce attorneys in the world, which means for decades he's had a front-row seat to what makes marriages thrive – and the reason why marriages fall apart.  He’s going to tell you most breakups don’t happen because of something catastrophic. They result from all the little mistakes over time that everyone misses.  Today, he’ll teach you what those mistakes are and convince you that a few small changes are the secret to creating a lasting and loving relationship.  And unlike most relationship advice you’ll hear, his advice isn’t theoretical. It’s built on what he’s seen thousands of couples do when it’s working… and when it’s not.  You’ll learn: -How you can save (or strengthen) any marriage in 10 minutes a week -The #1 thing that leads to infidelity (it’s not what you think) and how to avoid it -How to tell if your marriage is over -The reason relationships and marriages fail -How to argue in a productive way -How to tell if you’re in the wrong relationship -The habits of all successful relationships If you’re single, this is what sets the foundation for a healthy relationship. If you’re in a relationship, this is what allows it to deepen, strengthen, and evolve with you. If you’re suffering from a breakup or a divorce, this will not only make you believe in love again, but it will also give you the road map to create it.  This is one of the most important conversations that has been had on this podcast to date. Mel cannot wait for you and everybody that you love or have loved to experience it.  For more resources related to today’s episode, click here for the podcast episode page.   If you liked the episode, check out this one next with Mel and her husband Chris: How To Create Better Relationships: 6 Surprising Lessons From 28 Years Of Marriage Connect with Mel:     Order Mel’s new product, Pure Genius Protein Get Mel’s newsletter, packed with tools, coaching, and inspiration. • Episode 1: Shaping Futures—2025: New MOE Minister Lee's Vision for Teaching and Learning in a New Era

    05/06/2025

Episode 1: Shaping Futures—2025: New MOE Minister Lee's Vision for Teaching and Learning in a New Era

Welcome to "Learning By Doing (in Singapore): A Teacher's T&L Log"! In this inaugural episode, we dive headfirst into the "new era in education" as recently unveiled by Minister for Education Desmond Lee. As a Primary School teacher right here in Singapore, I'll share my initial reflections on these major reforms and how they promise to reshape our classrooms and the teaching profession. Minister Lee’s first major policy address since taking the helm at MOE signals a shift, focusing on future-proofing our education system for both students and educators. We'll explore the exciting changes to the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), the foundational training programme for degree holders entering teaching. It's being shortened from a 16-month course to a one-year programme, with a stronger focus on integrating theory and practical application. This aligns with Minister Lee's philosophy that "We learn by doing," and new teachers will receive more support for in-service professional learning grounded in authentic classroom experiences. But this isn't just a technical update; it's a philosophical shift. Minister Lee emphasised that the world our children will inherit will be "very different" due to "seismic shifts" like Artificial Intelligence (AI), global conflict, misinformation, and climate change. This means our students need to develop competencies beyond subject knowledge, such as critical discernment, creative thinking, cross-cultural collaboration, and most importantly, a strong set of values as their moral compass to navigate complexity. The goal is to nurture "values-driven pioneers, innovators, problem-solvers, bridge-builders, connectors and contributors". I’ll also touch on MOE's commitment to supporting teachers by reducing administrative workload, such as piloting new procurement approaches and automating absentee records. Plus, we'll discuss the push to attract diverse talents, including mid-career professionals, who bring invaluable industry experience and life lessons to the classroom. Join me as we unpack what these significant announcements mean for my daily teaching and learning experiences, and how they will shape the future of education in the Little Red Dot.
