A Week of Housewives, Next Gen, and Sleepovers

This week, I recapped my summer party, the Next Gen: NYC reunion (texted some Housewives moms with updates!), dispelled an Atlanta casting rumor, and asked the question: to sleepover or to not sleepover. Who knew that was such a hot button issue (not me, clearly!) Then, I got into the Luther Vandross doc (figuratively and literally), defended Dr. Fauci, THC, and IVF! Plus, I recap my TODAY Show appearance and my war with Adidas over a refund. Q&A: Potty training, big girl beds & homeschool vs. public school?!

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Friday!! We are officially in Vancouver ourselves, but before we headed out, we answered YOUR questions (& for our guys and gals who love a parenting-heavy episode, this one is for you!!!)  But not until we cover a few things first: maintenance days vs. self-care days (getting your nails done is NOT self-care, it's maintenance!), the weirdest ways people find out they're pregnant (did you know your hairstylist might know before you do?! Dry scalp, hair changes.. the signs are everywhere), and the great audiobook debate: Alex has been listening to her audiobook 24/7, everyone keeps talking to her, and we’re thinking this might be rude if it was ANYTHING besides a book (like imagine shushing someone while reading Twitter LOL).  Then we get into your questions.. and guys… you were kicking us while we're down (can you tell Alex is a little emotional about Tate turning 2?!) We covered all things getting older: potty training (and the Dr. Ari rec we're following), big girl bed transitions (STOP), birthday party plans (we officially know the theme.. not telling!!), and how Tate adjusted to becoming a big sister!! Don't worry, we've got the baby topics too: the biggest differences between having a girl and a boy so far, mentally preparing to leave your baby overnight for the first time & more. And since it's back to school time, we give our honest updated thoughts on the homeschool vs. private vs. public school question! We finish up with biting & hitting.. and the realization that makes it so much easier for us to be patient: their brain is like an overflowing cup. They're not a bad kid, they just can't voice what they want YET. Hope everyone has a great weekend :-) LOVE YOU GUYS! Timestamps: 00:00:00 Welcome back to Two Parents & A Podcast! 00:00:30 Maintenance days vs. self-care days 00:03:02 The weirdest ways people find out they're pregnant 00:09:25 We're in Vancouver! 00:13:27 Is it rude to listen to an audiobook all day?! 00:17:20 Q&A: Will we homeschool, private school or public school our kids?! 00:29:10 Q&A: When are we potty training Tate? Why Am I Always on the Edge?

Your kid hits. Melts down the second you leave the house. Argues about everything, all day, every single day. You've tried the time-outs, the consequences, the calm-down corner. Nothing works. Why are we always at that cliff? Dr. Becky spent two hours in a Reddit thread literally called "Nothing Works" and pulled three real posts to build this episode. Her answer: you're intervening at the cliff, when the real leverage is on the road that led there. She walks through the exact minute-by-minute buildup (the snack request, the "just one more minute," the phone glance) where a parent could've exited before the blowup, plus scripts you can actually use. * Thank you to our partners for making this episode possible: Pampers Easy Ups: Start your potty training journey with Peppa Pig Pampers Easy Ups Airbnb: Host your home or book your next stay on Airbnb LMNT: Get a free gift with your purchase at drinkLMNT.com/goodinside Little Spoon: Get 50% off your first order at littlespoon.com/rattled with code RATTLED Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Episode 401: Making Peace with What We Can’t Control with Lysa TerKeurst

Sissy Goff and David Thomas sit down with Lysa TerKeurst for a meaningful conversation about making peace with what we can’t control—especially as parents. Lysa shares what she’s learned through raising five children, walking through divorce, and now becoming a grandmother, including the importance of keeping kids talking, releasing the need to control outcomes, and allowing children to experience consequences and build resilience. She reminds parents that their children’s mistakes don’t define their parenting and encourages families to create a strong sense of belonging, pursue their own growth, and trust God with what they ultimately cannot control. 1KHO 890: Make Every Day A Masterpiece | Chris Hodges, Legacy Letters

What do you want to leave behind - not just for the people you love, but in them? In this moving conversation, Ginny sits down with pastor and bestselling author Chris Hodges to talk about his book Legacy Letters: Timeless Principles I Learned, Lived, and Leave Behind. In Ginny's words, it's one of her favorite episodes ever! Chris shares why reaching his sixties, raising five children, and becoming a grandfather to 12 (with another on the way) changed the way he thinks about success. Instead of simply building, he began asking what wisdom, habits, and values he wanted to pass to the generations coming behind him. Chris and Ginny explore the principles that matter even more in an age when information is everywhere: patience, perseverance, attitude, intentionality, encouragement, and a willingness to act before everything feels perfect. Chris explains why he believes patience can be a competitive advantage, why attitude is a choice rather than a feeling, and why making each day a “masterpiece” starts with identifying a few things that truly matter and actually doing them. He also shares the surprising power of writing down your dreams, including how a seemingly impossible bucket-list goal eventually led to a ride in an F-16. The conversation ultimately comes back to something beautifully simple: slowing down enough to notice your life. Chris shares his daily ritual of feeding the birds, spending time outside, and finding a quiet moment that replenishes rather than merely distracts him from the pressures of life. And in a fitting conclusion, he tells the story of fishing with his grandfather—the man who taught him to respect nature, treat people well, and live by principles worth passing on. This episode is an invitation to consider the life you're building, the people you're influencing, and the legacy that may already be taking shape in the ordinary moments you share with the people you love. Picky Eating & Food Guilt with Jennifer Anderson

Is your child's relationship with food already shaped by guilt, fear, or "good food/bad food" rules — even before they can talk? Registered dietitian Jennifer Anderson, founder of Kids Eat in Color, joins Dr. Aliza Pressman to unpack "embodied independence" — the idea that raising confident eaters means combining a healthy relationship with food and the practical skills to take care of one's body. This is a must-listen for any parent trying to raise a healthy eater without passing down diet culture baggage. What you’ll learn: Why labeling foods "good" or "bad" creates food rules, guilt, and inflexible thinking later in life Practical scripts for introducing dessert without using food as a reward or a bargaining chip Red flags for extreme picky eating and ARFID — and when to bring concerns to your pediatrician The "sit, connect, and expose" approach that gets even the pickiest toddlers trying new foods How to set boundaries with grandparents and relatives around sweets and body comments 🔗 RESOURCES & LINKS: Learn more about Jennifer Anderson’s work: 📖 Feed Them Well: A Guide to Raising Healthy, Confident Eaters for Life https://kidseatincolor.com/landing-pages/feed-them-well-book/?utm_source=podcast-guest&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=book-awareness&utm_content= 📱 Follow Kids Eat in Color on Instagram:@kids.eat.in.color 🧪 Take the Pediatric Screener for ARFID and Extreme Picky Eating (PSAE):https://kidseatincolor.com/picky-eating-and-arfid-screener-for-kids-psa-eat/ Buy Dr. Aliza Pressman's Book: 📖Order "The 5 Principles of Parenting" by Dr. Aliza Pressman: https://www.amazon.com/Principles-Parenting-Essential-Raising-Humans/dp/166801453X Follow Raising Good Humans: 📱 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisinggoodhumanspodcast/ 🎙️ Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/raising-good-humans/id1473072044 Subscribe on Substack for weekly articles and exclusive LIVE Q&As:  📧 https://dralizapressman.substack.com/ This episode is brought to you by: Great Wolf Lodge: With 22 lodges across the country, you’re always only a short drive away from adventure.
