What with Young Sherlock premiering on Prime TODAY (at time of publishing, that is) - or for those listening later - March 4th, what better pairing than Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty (and our man Scroobius Pip who also stars in the show!). Guy Ritchie directed it, and it sounded like a very cool and very unique environment to be a part of... We catch Hero and Donal at the very start of the press run, but already they have their off-screen chemistry down to science as they let us all in on the process, which is one that embraces spontaneity while being fully prepared. Along with the blend of loose / tight, we also hear about the musicality of the script which includes meticulous cadence, having room to present ideas and creative input on set, the importance of careful scheduling and also how to portray the Mind Palace.     Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! This week Pip is joined by Mystery Jets OG BLAINE HARRISON! Mystery Jets are a total indie band sureshot, who are currently in the 20th anniversary year of their debut 'Making Dens' debut. They've been total crowdpleasers since the first days, rocking any venue they've graced (including Banquet Records to name one, who get flowers in perpetuity). Back then it was a VERY different time, and a near-unrecognizable media terrain in which many bands were assigned a persona, or vibe, or aura by the music press. The Jets were not immune to this and were often saddled with this and that from various publications, but thankfully forged ahead, and always retained pure love from their fanbase. Pip catches up with original member Blaine, who is such an easy breezy chat subject and has his own questions here and there too (Jets and Pip share 20th anniversary celebrations this year!). It was a really vibrant era back in 2006, but it's so valuable to see a successful band who are still rocking it with no loss of passion or ambition. A really fascinating episode which, as always, will appeal whether you're a Jets-head or you've never heard of 'em. ENJOY! Those of you familiar with Pip's Twitch channel and the community within might well be familiar with Cherry, but if not, all is well as here is your formal introduction! Although their role is two-fold, as guest and interviewer, with Pip as the subject. Today (at time of episode publishing) is Wednesday 22nd October, which is International Stammering Awareness Day. With Pip being a person with a stammer as well as a patron of the organisation Stamma, it would be a missed opportunity to celebrate the event and that is exactly what's going down today! This is a chance for those of you who stammer, as well as those of you who do not, to listen in on a conversation covering a vast amount of points and topics within the greater world of stammering that you might not usually hear. It's a wonderful chance to gain some insight into not only what it is, but how it can come into play in day to day life, the issues that might otherwise go unseen or unheard, but also the added compensatory factors that can kick in as a result. Something that comes up in the chat is about how stammering is not the problem, it's how the world meets the stammer that is the problem, which is a really interesting swing on it all. Stu and Kunt also do the Acceptable In The 80's podcast. Pip, Chris & Stu form together to do the 'DrunkCast' episodes of Distraction Pieces, where they drink and generate like 5+ whole hour long episodes. So there we go! Dedicated listeners will remember the refrain of Ed's original appearance on here - "Why the f**k not?" - a mantra that will hopefully have provided a nice ass-kicking to get things done, or motivation to make some things happen. Well here is the very cool, calm and collected Ed back again to chat about so much but somewhat centrally revolving around the actorial sciences. They have a bunch of shared ground, and it's really nice to hear what Ed's been up to since that initial appearance, and what life has looked like since the beginning of the journey back in 2010 or so.
