Perfectionism in Parenting Teens: How to Help your Perfectionist Kids, Better Handle your Own Mistakes, and What to do When your Kids Notice That you’re Human || co-interview with Heather Frazier
This week I have a co-interview between me and Heather Frazier, host of the Pivot Parenting podcast. First, I share how I've seen perfectionism affect my experience raising children and also as a middle school teacher. Then, Heather teaches how we can better handle when our teens differentiate themselves from us, and as a result show us our flaws and failures.
The conversation delves into practical strategies for maintaining a strong connection with teenagers, even amidst imperfections. Heather emphasizes the power of grace, reminding parents that it's okay to make mistakes. She encourages parents to express unconditional love and support, creating a safe space for their teens to grow and navigate their own challenges.
Whether you have teenagers and want a stronger connection with them, or don't have teenagers quite yet, this conversation will give you hope. With a little bit of effort and a lot of understanding, you can pivot your parenting towards connection, in a way that is aligned with your values, too.

How Do You Get Back Into Reading? || with Annette
Is there something that has made you think other people can do that, but not me? This episode is part of a monthly series to convince you otherwise. These episodes feature real women who are answering the question “How do you…?” about their various passions and pursuits.
Do books bring up memories for you? There are certain books that transport me right back to childhood, and some I've even enjoyed with my own kids. And even though reading was a big part of my life, somewhere along the way I stopped doing it. Reading then became a focus of my first Do Something List, and the results of prioritizing it again really surprised me.
In this episode Annette (a community member just like you!) tackles almost every obstacle that might be keeping you from being the reader you once were, or just want to become. I hope this episode gives you the boost to get started!

I like It so much, I wish Monica could show up in my feed more often! 😃
I’ve listened to this show for several years now, and it’s been really cool to see it evolve. But no matter what she’s talking about, Monica always seems to speak right to me. I love how down to earth and relatable she is, and how entertaining and helpful the show is. I get a lot from the coaching call episodes also. If you’re a human trying to get through life well and enjoy your experience, this show is for you!!
Best years of my life!
Okay the title is a bit dramatic but I really do feel like Monica has been a consistent presence of hope in my life for the last 5 years. I’ve been a silent listener all this time but I have to share a great break through I had because of her. I have been listening and never doing. She feels me with good feelings but I never actually put it to work. This year I had my second baby and fell in to deep depression due to a thyroid issue. When I was at my lowest I decided to start listening again to About Progress and try and pull myself out. Someone she had as a guest (I don’t remember who) said we shouldn’t go through trials alone. I have sense “acted” and gotten the help I need. I am doing well the baby is doing well!! I’m now working to starting my own business. I’m looking forward to starting my own DSL even this late in the year to help me start new goals and get some happiness back into my life!
Just what my 2023 needed
I started following Monica after she was on Sorta Awesome. We both had babies at the end of this year so it has been fun to follow her journey. I even remembered how she got an epidural this time when I opted to get one this time around as well. It was encouraging to have someone say I wanted to enjoy the moment more. When Monica referenced Guve a Mouse a Cookie when talking about cleaning, I knew she got me. I have always said that is how I clean and why I never get anything done.
