You Can’t Think Your Way out of a Feeling Problem
When we are "anxious" our automatic urge is to figure a way out of the feeling. But what if the problem with anxiety is too much thinking to start with?
You can't fix over thinking with more thinking, right? You must learn how to FEEL your way out.

How I discovered I had anxiety (& alarm) how it tormented me, & how I found a way out.
Episode 13 of the Anxiety Rx podcast is much of my story.
How I discovered I had anxiety (and alarm) how it tormented me, and how I found a way out.
I ramble quite a bit in this one, probably because I was triggered going into the most painful parts of my life.
It shares my experience with chronic anxiety and alarm and I hope that my healing journey provides insights you can use for your healing journey.

Failing To See The Cues Of Safety
Many of us worriers have a "sunscreen" view of the world in that we block out 99% of the safety that is all around us.
If you can't see and commit to the world as a safe place, of course we are going to stay in ALARM.
If we believe the focus on threat keeps us safe, we will experience the exact opposite!

Do you allow yourself to RECEIVE?
Do you allow yourself to receive? Or are you doing most of the people pleasing/giving to others?
When we see the world as a place that does not nourish us enough, as was often our childhood circumstance, we learn not to expect the world to help us, and actually CREATE a world that stops feeding us.
We often BLOCK and RESIST any help the world does give us, and then blame the world for not filling our needs... INABILITY TO RECEIVE is a chapter in my book "Anxiety Rx", and if we don't see how we block good things coming to us, we will sabotage our own perception of the world, seeing it as a place where we don't get enough.
But often we do get "enough", but just resist receiving it!

Customer Reviews
Invaluable information—Highly recommend!
Dr. Kennedy’s book / theory on anxiety has changed my life in ways I can’t explain! I’m so glad I found him and his work after listening to another podcast. I thought I was going to have to deal with anxiety for the rest of my life! If you struggle with anxiety, I cannot recommend both his book and this podcast enough! The information he gives through both mediums—his book and this podcast— is invaluable!! He knows exactly—both professionally and personally—what he’s talking about, and he also does an outstanding job explaining everything in such an easily digestible way as well, which is great! I’m absolutely going to keep his book near by for the rest of my life! Thank you, thank you, Dr. Kennedy!! It means the absolute world to me!!
First time listener
I love this podcast. Like Dr. Kennedy I have suffered from my alarms going off and the dreaded over thinking syndrome for the majority of my adult life. This new revelation that what I used to call my anxiety was really connected to childhood trauma coming back out because of the need to feel loved and safe has been eye opening. I am barely starting to listen to his podcast and I am hoping that I can stop and separate the alarms and overthinking and just work in shutting down the alarms when they start to go off.
I am excited and optimistic that one day I will also be successful in curing myself from all the anxiety I have dealt with the majority of my life. Love the phrase don’t listen to your thoughts after he is done with the podcast.
