Episodes with thoughtful guests are so fun!

The episodes with guests who have done their watching/research are so fun. My go-to bachelor podcast for sure. However, there are a few recurring guests who are Ringer employees who obviously just come on as a favor and don’t add anything, and those episodes just aren’t a good time. Overall a fun pod!

Frustrated

I have listened to this podcast for a very long time. And recently I find myself listening to it less and less. As a minority, I understand the importance of having conversations about race and how the show is systematically racist. I appreciate Juliet’s courage in doing so. Is it way too often for an entertainment podcast? Hm yeah I personally think so- but that’s not the main reason as to why I’ve stopped listening.

Talking about mean girls in a mean way is being a mean girl yourself. Sometimes the host sounds very stuck up and mean when she’s describing the so called villains of the show without taking into account that everyone is working through something and doing their best. Not to mention we are all aware of the manipulation of contestants, editing, etc. It is ok to address people’s mean and toxic behaviors, but let’s try refraining from demonizing them or calling them names. Example: “Elizabeth was acting very rude in that episode. Everything she said to Juliet was false, and it seemed as though she was speaking from a place of insecurity.” This statement addresses the behavior, doesn’t call the person rude themself just the behavior, and tries to find a reasonable and sensitive explanation as to why they were acting that way.

Juliet seems like someone who is reasonable and values being held accountable, so I hope she can appreciate and listen to some of the feedback she has been receiving as of late.

Will try giving this pod another listen soon.

Update:
Tried the podcast again a few months later as intended, and was just met with disappointment. This pod has become too political and I’m so frustrated bc I love how articulate Juliet is and sometimes she has wonderful takes and perspective on things. I really do miss listening to/ enjoying the pod! I wish she would truly take into account the countless feedback she’s received and adjust accordingly recognizing that there is a time and a place for everything.

JULIET IS SUCH AN AWFUL PERSON

God, Juliet, what a crappy person you are. I hope I never meet you because you’re literally the opposite of who I am and want to be. And I don’t mean politically, because I’m not a Trumper, but as a decent human being. You completely lack empathy and judgment. What an awful podcast.
