    MAGAish

Now for something completely different—this week Toure and Danielle are on vacation and the show has been taken over by “Josh” and “Brittany” two Black MAGA-loving maniacs. They’re Black but not like Black-Black. You’ll see. It’s a very special episode of Democracyish or I should say MAGAish.

    We All Gone Die

    We All Gone Die

We are traumatized yet again by police murder. This time Andrew Brown Jr. And Mario Gonzalez. The police are insane—America just got finished convicting one of their guys and they’re still murdering us with impunity. That plus why are Black people so anti-vax? We’re the most likely to get Covid and the least likely to take the vaccine. Make it make sense please. I hate it here. Democracyish.

    Chauvin Is Guilty

Chauvin is guilty. And that’s cathartic. But Ma’Khia is dead. And it starts again. We talk with Elie Mystal through the pain of being Black in this moment, the key moments in the trial, the question of whether or not Kim Potter will go to prison for murdering Daunte Wright, and what can we do for self-care in this very traumatic moment for Black people. Democracyish.

We interrupt our conversation about the trial of a white cop who murdered a Black person to bring you a new story about a white cop who murdered a Black person. Daunte Wright is dead. Is Derek Chauvin Goin Down?

The Derek Chauvin trial is triggering but we can’t turn away. Toure is confident that he will be convicted—the Chief of Minneapolis Police testified against him. Danielle is certain he’s getting off—have you seen America??? We talk to legal genius Elie Mystal for some critical insight.

Love Love Love!

I can listen to Toure & Danielle’s voice all darn day! But I really listen because you guys are truly discussing the issues in a way that is raw and honest. As well as expressing so many things that many of us black Americans are feeling. It’s great to hear that I and many others are not alone in our way of thinking. Look forward to listening! Keep it coming 👍🏽💕🙌🏽

This show is amazing

I'm always amazed by what they say folx is not taught in school. I grew up in the ’60s & the ’70s and we were taught about the fight for civil rights & how screwed up the confederate message was insane. Maybe I grew up in an enclave of liberal America, I did not. I was maybe fortunate enough to have good teachers with a broader view world who taught me well. I have always considered myself fortunate to have had these teachers who made me a well-rounded human being before I ever left my small hometown set off into the world beyond. I love Toure & Danielle for keeping me grounding in what I have always known. They keep me fighting for equity for all.

I wait patiently each week

This podcast makes Thursdays more like Friday! I can’t believe how often Danielle channels my thoughts every week. I feel seen and heard. Toure tends to play devil’s advocate/contrarian and I need that so that I can develop a more nuanced POV. I so appreciate both of them and their impacts on my thinking. ✊🏾😆💯✊🏾💜
