Review with Question

Great podcast about respectful parenting, backed with research and helpful commentary.

I’m needing help with my approach to respectful parenting in regards to making a big change, in our case, taking away a binki. I can’t respectfully explain to my two year old that I don’t want him to have goofy teeth. He LOVES it (think Gollum and the one ring level of love and obsession). We have boundaries set where he can only have it in his crib, and we have had these boundaries since he turned one, but he will gladly stay in his crib for an hour in the morning to spend more time with it. He will be devastated when we take it. No toys or treats would ever bribe him away from it (we have tried. Even thrown the *Disneyland* word around..)

In a lot of cases of big changes like changing beds or starting school or potty training, the answer is to “wait til they are ready” but I don’t know if that’s appropriate here.

Any advice on how to respectfully take away my child’s favorite thing in the planet?

Best parenting podcast for ALL

This podcast presents parenting ideas that are both research based and experience based. They talk about simple and easy ways to approach parenting. It’s honestly the best parenting resource in my life right now, because it eliminates the need to read 100 books. They base their approach off of all those books so I don’t have to read everything. I think everyone should listen and incorporate this style, even non-parents, bring in these frames-of-thought into ALL kinds of relationships. We would have so many more adults who have both successful relationships and coping skill in life’s difficulties if so!
