91 episodes

Listen as real entrepreneurs pitch to real investors—for real money. In each episode, we take you behind closed doors to the critical moment when aspiring entrepreneurs put it all on the line. While it offers a glimpse into the high-stakes world of venture capital, it’s really a show about human relationships: how people sell their ideas, what makes investors tick, and how these initial conversations can bloom into business deals—or die on the vine. Hosted by Josh Muccio.

Like shark tank but in podcast form

Great podcast! I love the follow up after the pitch to find out if the investors followed through. It’s a great format.

Too dumbed down

The very first season was fully orientated towards adults, but then this podcast got dumbed way down when it became a Gimlet podcast so it'd appeal to as many people as possible.

This is now much more of a family orientated podcast and they no longer discuss intricate details about running a business. They also almost never tell the listeners the valuation of the startups anymore and there have been several instances where they didn't even say how much the investors were putting in. On top of that, the host constantly pauses the pitches to explain simple concepts or to repeat what someone just said, and he sometimes makes childish comments.

Additionally, the investors rarely invest in the start-ups that are featured on this podcast, and when they do make an investment, it's always for a relatively small amount. Lastly, they've recently started putting a ridiculous amount of ads into each episode, which is also the case with most of Gimlet's other podcasts.
