I have enjoyed Academy of Ideas media for years now. It’s a guarantee when these pop up in my feed, that I will be engaged thoroughly in their awesome and well thought out presentation, as always. Maybe embarrassingly, my phone is full of screenshots from each episode, and it’s always such a pleasure to see artwork that I’d never known existed featured with the presentation, not least because seeing truly beautiful (new) works of art is hard to come by as far as I can tell… and the quotes attached are pure gems!
Maybe it’s just me and my love of philosophy, the psyche, and all things deep and dark…. But that’s the thing, life doesn’t have to be so dark if we could all learn to face reality as it is. That reality includes, most importantly, the understanding of who we truly are once all of the many layers of gunk (programming, indoctrination, etc) which are imposed upon us from birth, are dissolved away through intentional reflection…. and a little compassion for ourselves and those around us doesn’t hurt the process of seeing clearly.
Even though I have a bent for this genre, I can’t imagine it being unhelpful to anyone else who would not ordinarily think to entertain themselves this way.
A new episode popping up is one of those nice things to be thankful for in life as far as I’m concerned. There are so many options for entertainment, learning, or both in one (if you’re like me), and these guys are on the top of my list for greatness and super high enjoyability each time. The references, quotes, and especially the accompanying artwork is worth so much more time than they even ask for, ie. I’d love for longer episodes!! But I’m thankful for what I’ve got.
