Remember The Game? Retro Gaming Podcast

Adam Blank

Comedian Adam Blank hosts "Remember The Game?", a retro gaming podcast. Each week, Adam and his guest will select a video game that they grew up playing, and spend time reminiscing about what they loved (or hated) about it. Not intended to be a history lesson, "Remember The Game?" is more like a conversation you'd overhear on the playground as a kid. The discussions are all over the place, and are guaranteed to fill you with that warm, nostalgic feeling. (Or rage, like you felt with the underwater level in the original Ninja Turtles game). Either way, it's gonna be fun! New episodes every Wednesday!

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can find ye olde Bradley McCue here: Instagram: @TheGamingOdyssey Twitch.tv/VideoGameOdyssey My efforts to mend the fences between Nintendo and Sega kids continue this week as we review Ristar; a charming little platformer exclusive to Sega's black box. It's a platformer without much of an emphasis on jumping. You control this little black ball with a star face and use its Mr. Fantastic-esque arms to grab enemies, ledges, walls, and try not to die. It's not the most memorable game I've ever played, but it actually doe sa lot of things I normally hate very very well. A hidden gem in my books. Ye olde Bradley McCue is my guest this week and we talk about our likes and dislikes of fighting balls with stars. I'm not sure what else there is to say. Fun game. And before we shoot for the star, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone shouts out the Nintendo 64 for changing the gaming landscape. What modern games are 'NES tough'? And where do I stand on the 2003 TMNT animated series?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One'!! This one features 3 Genesis games featuring weird mascots: Vectorman, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Dynamite Headdy. This was the one that introduced by the Mega Buster and Eddie. Eddie is great, but the Mega Buster is a little more...controversial. I don't know anyone that HATES it, but there's a group of Mega Man fans that prefer to play WITH it, and a group (that I'm part of) that prefer to play without it. whether you like the big buster or not, it doesn't take away from the fact that the Mega Man team was on their game in these days, and I think most would consider MM4 a classic game and valuable member of the NES 6. The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk Mega Manning. This is his personal favourite of the OG series, and we talked for over an hour about the legendary robot master lineup, tweaks to the classic gameplay formula, and that sexy swinging soundtrack. And before we whip on Wily again, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks my thoughts on the recent StarFox reveal (and I fumble it hard). What would it take for me to go all PC for my games?? And what game have I spent the most time beating in my life?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Mega Man games: Mega Man 5, 6, and 7. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can check out Captain N's Retrotopia Podcast here: https://retrotopiapodcast.podbean.com/ I've been wanting to play F.E.A.R. for years. It had a lot going against it for this review because I JUST finished Resident Evil 9 (which is newer and spectacular), and it's been 7 whole days since our last "slow motion shooter" game review, but to F.E.A.R.'s credit it left a great impression on me because a good game is a good game. If you haven't played this one, you play as the "point man" on this squad of, I dunno, shooter guys? You're investigating this company that's somehow making telepathic monsters and spend most the game sneaking around killing other shooter guys controlled by monsters. It's better than I described. Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week and carried my uneducated ass through a good review of a great game. We do spoil, so you've been warned, but I don't think anyone is still reading this anyway. And before we get scared, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I'll ever stop buying new game consoles? Is there any chance I someday leave podcasting for another "career"? And if I was challenged to play through an entire console's catalog, which would it be?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 shooter guy games: The Conduit, Area 51, and TimeSplitters. Fortunately the stuff that was awesome is still awesome. Unfortunately the nightmare segments are still shit too, though. If you haven't played Max Payne, you play as this bitter undercover cop who saw his family killed by drug junkies and he's had enough and started going scorched earth on everyone that moves. You basically go from room to room killing people and every now and then it gets interrupted by gritty comic book panels. Add int he ability to slow time Matrix style and you got yourself a classic. The bitterest man I know, my buddy Tyler, is my guest this week and we did the thing where we sit down and talk about games and does anyone even read these??? And before we slow things down, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks what 5 games I think I've spent the most time playing in my life? How do I feel about WWE 2K26's new battle pass system? And would Video and Arcade Top 10 work as an adult show in 2026?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 games featuring coppers: LA Noire, Sleeping Dogs, and Dead to Rights. Patreon.com/RememberTheGame The list of games from my younger years that I can just review off the top of my head is getting pretty short, but Toobin' is still on it. It's a really fun NES arcade port that my brother and I would rent ALL the time as kids. You play as a dude in an inner tube, autoscrolling/floating down rivers and avoiding obstacles that want to pop your ride. You can throw cans at enemies and hazards and get you to places like the jungle, the arctic, and Mars. It's awesome. My guest this week is a living legend around RTG, my pal Chris. He was a SEGA kid, I was a Nintendo World Orderer, but we both grew up littering in strange places on virtual inner tubes. And before we go toobin', I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I actually do have friends? And if so, why don't I game with them?? How do I feel about the winner of our Pre-March Madness tourney?? And is a CRT worth the money for retro gaming?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 other NES games we always rented as kids: Dick Tracy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and A Boy And His Blob. Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can check out Daniel's streams at: Twitch.tv/stpd_mnky The original Metroid Prime sits side-by-side with Metroid Dread as my favourite games in the series, so I've been looking forward to jumping into the sequel and seeing if it lives up to the hype. From a polish standpoint, I think it does for sure. But personally? Ehhhh.... Prime 2 is objectively a well made game. The polish is there, great story, graphics, soundtrack, exploration. It splits the game's map into 2 distinct worlds, and on paper that's a great idea (as Link To The Past proves). But in execution it seems to be little more divisive. And while some people love this game, I found the maps and dark world equal parts brilliant and frustrating as f**k. My guest this week is our resident Metroid junkie, Stpd Mnky. He's the biggest Samus fan I know, and we went for an hour talking the lights and darks of Samus vs Samus, and discussed whether or not we think this game surpasses its predecessor. And before we morph into balls, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks for advice on being a creator when you run into setbacks? Do I ever just game for FUN anymore? And why don't I like Majora's Mask?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 GameCube beasts: Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.
