The Armor Men's Health Show

Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Donna Lee

The Armor Men’s Health Show is what happens when a board-certified urologist and a stand-up comedian walk into a studio… and actually help people. Hosted by Dr. Sandeep Mistry, founder of Urology Specialists of Austin, and professional, touring standup comedian, Donna Lee, this weekly podcast tackles the medical topics men care about… but don’t always want to Google in public. We talk about all things men's wellness including the big stuff:  Erectile dysfunction.  Prostate cancer. Low testosterone. Enlarged prostate. Fertility. Kidney stones. Vasectomies. Yes. We go there. Boldly. Dr. Mistry brings the medical expertise. Donna Lee brings the questions you’re slightly embarrassed to ask. Together, they make men’s health informative, approachable and occasionally hilarious. But it’s not just about anatomy — The Armor Men’s Health Show takes a holistic approach to wellness, covering nutrition, weight loss, sleep, sex therapy, pelvic floor physical therapy, and how all of it connects to living better (and longer). Also featured are top physicians and specialists from around Austin — from cardiology to endocrinology to orthopedics — because men’s health isn’t one-size-fits-all. If you like your medical advice credible, practical, and sprinkled with comedy, this is your show. Because taking care of yourself shouldn’t feel awkward. Unless we’re talking about a crooked body part. Then it’s a little awkward...but they can fix that.

EP 802: Incontinence Issues? Dr. Jacomides Will Help You See that You Don't Always Have to Get Up to Pee!

In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Donna Lee is joined by Dr. Lucas Jacomides, a board-certified urologist with Urology Specialists of Austin, the practice that brings you this insightful, educational, and occasionally entertaining podcast about men’s health. This week, we’re answering listener questions—and apparently, nobody is getting any sleep because the bladder has other plans! Our first listener is a healthy 68-year-old man who has recently started experiencing bedwetting at night, despite never having issues with incontinence before. During the day, bladder control is completely normal, and even limiting fluids and using the bathroom before bedtime hasn’t solved the problem. With normal PSA and urine test results, he wants to know: Is nighttime incontinence common as men age, what might be causing it, and what treatment options are available? Our second listener underwent GreenLight prostate surgery hoping to solve his frequent nighttime trips to the bathroom—but unfortunately, he’s still waking up to urinate just as often as before. He wants to know: If prostate surgery didn’t fix the problem, what else can be done about frustrating nighttime urination? Dr. Jacomides explains why nighttime urinary problems aren’t always as simple as “it must be the prostate,” what other factors can contribute to nocturia and nighttime incontinence, and why getting to the underlying cause is so important when determining treatment. If your bladder has decided that 2:00 a.m., 3:30 a.m., and 5:00 a.m. are perfectly reasonable appointment times, this episode is for you. Tune in for answers to these listener questions and more helpful information from The Armor Men’s Health Show! Have a men’s health question you’d like us to answer on a future episode? Send it our way. No question is too awkward—we talk about this stuff for a living! 💡 And here’s something to think about: When you send us a listener question, you’re getting a detailed answer from a prominent, experienced, board-certified urologist—for FREE! It may be more time and explanation than you’ve ever gotten with a urologist during an office visit. 😉 So keep those questions coming! 🎧 Tune in every week, share The Armor Men’s Health Show with your friends, and send your questions to Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee through armormenshealth.com. ❤️ We sure appreciate our listeners! 🏆 Voted Top Men’s Health Podcast, Sex Therapy Podcast and Prostate Cancer Podcast by FeedSpot 🎙️ Meet Your Hosts Donna Lee, producer and co-host of the podcast—is a professional, national touring stand-up comedian—bringing expert insight and humor to men’s health conversations. EP 801: Don't Be Frustrated and in Denial! Dr. Mistry Can Fix Problems of the Penile!

🎙️ In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back with more listener questions—and these are some good ones! Listener Question #1: “Dr. Mistry, I’m a listener and the proud owner of a three-piece penile implant for one year. Dr. Yang did an excellent job with the procedure, and I’ve had no issues with healing or mechanical function. I’m in excellent health and on a weekly TRT regimen. However, I have difficulty achieving orgasm during intercourse and even masturbation. Even when highly aroused, it’s difficult to achieve orgasm consistently. I had an L4-L5 spinal fusion over two years ago that resulted in my erectile dysfunction. I’d be happy to talk with Dr. Yang, but I wanted to get your opinion as well.” Dr. Mistry breaks down some of the possible reasons behind difficulty reaching orgasm after spinal surgery and explains why erectile function and the ability to orgasm are not necessarily the same thing. Listener Question #2: “My husband is a Type 2 diabetic, and over the years his semen volume has decreased. I thought this might be related to low testosterone. He was previously on testosterone replacement pellets, but his red blood cell count became very high and he was advised to stop treatment. He has tried everything to treat his ED, and in December he received a three-piece penile implant. He recently ejaculated while pleasing me, even though we did not touch the pump. He feels fine, but his six-week checkup is still a ways out. Could he possibly go back on testosterone therapy using injections instead? What can be done to increase semen volume? Have you discussed decreased semen volume in men with diabetes? I’m wondering why this has happened and whether testosterone replacement might help.” Dr. Mistry takes a deep dive into these complicated—and very common—men’s health concerns, including diabetes, testosterone replacement therapy, elevated red blood cell counts, semen volume, ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and penile implants. 🏆 Voted Top Men’s Health Podcast, Sex Therapy Podcast and Prostate Cancer Podcast by FeedSpot 🎙️ Meet Your Hosts Dr. Sandeep "Sunny" Mistry is a board-certified urologist who has proudly served patients in Austin and Greater Williamson County since opening his private practice in 2007. EP 800: It's Just Not Right...If You Have to Pee in the Night! Be Gone, Nocturia!

In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back answering more of your listener questions! Listener Question #1: “Dr. Mistry, I go to the bathroom four to five times a night. How can you treat this? I’m 65.” Listener Question #2: “I’m 54 and for several years I experienced increasing urinary frequency and extreme urgency—sometimes having less than a minute to find a bathroom. My PSA was 4.8, and an MRI showed a shadow on one side of my prostate, but subsequent biopsies were negative for cancer. I also have a family history of prostate cancer and have experienced nocturia. More recently, my urgency has disappeared and I can sometimes go most of the day without urinating. I was prescribed tamsulosin, but it didn’t agree with me. Is this something you’ve seen before?” If you’re getting up more than once during the night to urinate, you’re not alone—and there may be more going on than you realize. Dr. Mistry breaks down nocturia, or frequent nighttime urination, and explains some of its potential causes, including poor sleep quality, incomplete bladder emptying, overactive bladder, pelvic floor spasticity, and polyuria (producing too much urine). Dr. Mistry also discusses elevated PSA levels, prostate evaluation, urinary urgency and frequency, and why changes in urinary symptoms deserve a closer look. The good news? You don’t have to spend your nights making endless trips to the bathroom! The providers at NAU Urology Specialists take a comprehensive approach and use advanced testing to help determine what’s causing your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan. If you or someone you love struggles with frequent or urgent nighttime urination or other urinary symptoms, call 512-238-0762 or visit northaustinurology.com to schedule a consultation. ** PLEASE PARDON THE TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES IN THE LAST TWO MINUTES OF THIS EPISODE ** In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Donna Lee and Dustin Fontenot, PA-C, tackle a listener question about delayed ejaculation and whether PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment might help. Our listener is a healthy 50-year-old who takes 5 mg of Cialis daily but is STILL experiencing delayed ejaculation with his stunning wife. He says they can have sex for several hours at a time, up to six times a week, but the sensation just isn’t what it used to be. Wowza! That is a LOT of sex! 😳😂 Dustin explains PRP treatment offered at Urology Specialists of Austin, what it’s designed to do, and whether it may be appropriate for concerns involving sexual function and sensation. He and Donna also dive into other men’s health treatments, including shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction, and answer the question: What exactly is Peyronie’s disease? EP 798: Men's Health Things You Should Know Like Don't Touch Your Penis on a Jalapeño!

In this episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee tackle two listener questions about prostate and urinary health—including one involving jalapeños and a penis, so buckle up. 😂🌶️  🍆Question #1: “What are the prostate shrinkage pellets called?” “Dr. Mistry, what are the prostate shrinkage pellets called? I’d like to share this with my dad.” Dr. Mistry explains PAE—Prostate Artery Embolization—a minimally invasive treatment used to help reduce symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate. But PAE is just one item on a surprisingly large menu! Dr. Mistry explains that there are roughly a dozen different ways to treat an enlarged prostate, depending on the patient, the prostate, the symptoms, and other individual factors. That’s why patients at Urology Specialists of Austin are offered what Dr. Mistry calls a “buffet” of prostate treatment options rather than being handed the same procedure simply because it happens to be the one a particular office provides. Dr. Mistry also explains when there may be an “absolute indication for surgery” and why certain symptoms or complications can mean it’s time to move beyond medications or watchful waiting. You’ll also learn how PAE works, why it’s considered a newer and different approach to treating an enlarged prostate, and how it may help appropriately selected patients reduce BPH symptoms in a less invasive way than many traditional surgical therapies and procedures. Whether you’re peeing too much, too little, too often—or standing there wondering why NOTHING IS HAPPENING—the specialists at Urology Specialists of Austin can help determine which treatment is right for you. 🚽 Question #2: “Why can’t I pee?” The second listener question is about urinary retention—aka, when you really need to pee…but your body has apparently decided otherwise. 😳 Urinary retention can happen for a variety of reasons, including an enlarged prostate, urinary tract infections, recent surgery, and irritation of the urethra or penile skin. And then there’s this episode’s very important public service announcement: Wash your hands after chopping jalapeños BEFORE touching your penis. 🌶️🔥🍆 One listener learned that lesson the hard way when his spicy kitchen adventure led to acute urinary retention. YIKES. Travel can also throw your urinary system for a loop. Holding your urine too long, sitting for extended periods, dehydration, changes in diet, and other disruptions to your normal routine can contribute to urinary problems and infections. But frequent fliers, fear not! ✈️ Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee break down the risk factors for urinary retention and enlarged prostate and share practical tips to help keep everything flowing as it should. Remember Urology Specialists of Austin can help! And remember: when it comes to your prostate, options are good. When it comes to chopping jalapeños and then touching your penis, there is only one option: WASH. YOUR. HANDS. 😂🌶️🔥 💌 We love hearing from you! Have a question for Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee? EP 797: Grappling with Prostate Cancer? Dr. Mistry Always Has the Answer!

🎙️ This week on The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back in the mailbag answering more of YOUR listener questions! 📬 First up, a listener has undergone a couple of procedures for an enlarged prostate, including a “vacuum” procedure and Rezūm. His prostate now measures 83 cc on MRI, and after years of taking medications that caused unwanted side effects—including retrograde ejaculation—he’s ready to explore other options. His question: Could PAE (Prostatic Artery Embolization) be a logical next step before considering more invasive procedures? 🤔 Then, we tackle an important question about prostate adenocarcinoma and treatment options. What are the pros and cons of HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound)? Who might be a good candidate? And what should men know about the potential for erectile dysfunction afterward? As always, Dr. Mistry goes into detail, breaks down the medical jargon, and gives you information you can actually understand and use. 🩺👏 There’s a LOT to learn in this episode, so tune in, share it with your friends, and keep those listener questions coming! 🎧💙 The Armor Men’s Health Show — because sometimes the questions you’re afraid to ask are the ones you most need answered! 🏆 The Armor Men's Health Show has been recognized by FeedSpot as a Top Men's Health Podcast, Top Sex Therapy Podcast, and Top Prostate Cancer Podcast. EP 795: For Your Sexual Experiences, Don't Be Shy! You Might Have Erectile Dysfunction and Dr. Yang Will Tell You Why!

Hey there, you magnificent, marvelous and downright handsome humans! 🎙️✨ In this episode, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee welcome Urology Specialists of Austin's own Dr. Christopher Yang for an eye-opening conversation about erectile dysfunction (ED)—what causes it, why it happens, and why treatment isn't one-size-fits-all. Many men assume ED is just a normal part of aging, but there are often underlying medical reasons that deserve a closer look. The team explains the comprehensive evaluations available at Armor Men's Health, including hormone testing through specialized blood work, ultrasound imaging to evaluate penile blood flow, and physical exams to identify scar tissue or other structural concerns. But they don't stop there. Because sexual health is closely connected to overall health, they also discuss how conditions like hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, and even medication interactions can all play a role in ED. Sometimes the solution is as simple as adjusting how or when a medication is taken—or identifying an entirely different health issue that needs attention. Whether your symptoms are new, you've struggled for years, or you're simply looking for answers instead of guesswork, this episode explains why a thorough evaluation can make all the difference. Tune in to learn how the team at Armor Men's Health and Urology Specialists of Austin helps men get to the root of the problem and create personalized treatment plans that restore both confidence and quality of life.
