Weight and Wellness: A Discussion with Jennifer Trepeck

Weight and Wellness: A Discussion with Jennifer Trepeck

What crosses your mind when you think about weight or weight loss?

It’s a regular topic of discussion, especially among women.

Many of us grew up watching the women in our lives engage in fad diets, counting calories or even engaging in public weigh-ins.

There is so much more to your weight than just calories in, calories out. And there’s so much more to how our bodies work than simply striving to achieve what we believe is an ideal number on the scale.

If you find yourself on the hamster wheel of weight loss, this episode is for you.

My guest today is Jennifer Trepeck, who is recognized as a “force of nature” in the wellness space. Jennifer and I discuss topics including the roller coaster ride of weight and how fad diets have wronged us in the past, what works for burning fat and stimulating fat loss, and the bogus parameter of BMI. We also explore how to make intellectual versus emotional decisions with food, how alcohol impacts your waistline and your health, and the power of low glycemic impact nutrition.

Topics covered in this episode include:
Whether  “calories in and calories out” is true or just a weight loss myth
How we can find more movement throughout the day
The impact your muscles have on your metabolism

I hope you enjoy this episode with Jennifer and are able to take some actionable steps from our discussion.

183: How to Make Change Easier

183: How to Make Change Easier

For many people, the word “acceptance” can feel passive, not great, and even undesirable. But to me, that’s not the TRUE meaning of acceptance. Acceptance is the process of being received as adequate or suitable. It is the process of STOPPING rejecting yourself and understanding that you are fine exactly the way you are.

I dive deeper into the power of acceptance and learning to be okay with something, even if you still want to change and improve. Remember, if we reject OURSELVES, we reject EVERYTHING. I teach you to fully accept things exactly as they are, and why doing so will allow you to welcome more peace and calm into your life.

182: Clearing Up Misconceptions Around BHRT

182: Clearing Up Misconceptions Around BHRT

Since the Women’s Health Initiative study came out, there have been a lot of misconceptions about hormone replacement therapy among practitioners and us ladies. Hormone replacement therapy was widely embraced until the release of this study, which created fear about its safety. However, there is data on bioidentical hormones that show numerous benefits and reduced risks, yet we remain hesitant to use them.

This week, I want to clear up many misconceptions that we have as a society around hormone replacement therapy, particularly during the transition from perimenopause to menopause. I share distinctions between different types and categories of hormones, as well as information about the estrogen family.

181: The Dangers of People Pleasing

181: The Dangers of People Pleasing

In this episode, I explore the ten dangers of being a people pleaser. It’s normal to be a people pleaser, but you might find yourself constantly trying to make people happy at the expense of your own happiness. And being focused on pleasing people can lead to bitterness and resentment.

Learn how to navigate out of this cycle and how to recognize if you are a people pleaser. Taking care of others is important, but remember, no one can care for you as much as you can for yourself! It is possible to please people while also prioritizing your own well-being, and today, I’m showing you how.

Drink Less Lifestyle

Dr. Sherry Price is amazing and her podcasts really speak to me. I have been listening to her for several years now and sometimes it seems like she reads my mind. Today’s episode #169 on Ending Self-Betrayal set off a light bulb in my head. Keep up your wonderful work, Sherry!

Educational, enlightening, attainable

Wow! This has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts on the topic. Dr. Price has a way of conveying a very complicated message with ease, making you feel like you’re in the driver’s seat of your relationship with alcohol. As someone who has been exploring the topic of alcohol’s grip on society for years now, I’m grateful I landed on a podcast that breaks its down and offers tools and insight that is enlightening and totally attainable. I’ve already utilized some of her tools with success. Bravo Dr. Price!
