EP 225: More Clients or More $$$

ESTHETICIANS: You say you want MORE CLIENTS and MORE MONEY—but is your business actually prepared for them? 💰 In Episode 225 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we're talking about something every esthetician and beauty business owner needs to think about: Are you making it EASY for potential new clients to FIND YOU, BOOK YOU, and PAY YOU? You can post on social media every single day, create beautiful treatment videos, and talk about your services nonstop. But if potential clients don't know WHERE you're located, HOW to book an appointment, or WHAT services you offer, you could be missing opportunities to grow your business. Before you ask for more clients, make sure your business is ready to receive them! 📍 Do Potential Clients Know WHERE You Are? One of the simplest marketing mistakes estheticians make is forgetting to tell people where their business is located! You might have thousands of followers on Instagram or TikTok, but how many of those people actually know what city and state you work in? If someone discovers your content today, can they immediately figure out where you're located? Your location should be easy to find in your: ✨ Instagram and TikTok bios ✨ Social media captions and videos ✨ Website and online booking page ✨ Google Business Profile ✨ Promotional materials and advertisements ✨ Calls to action when promoting your services Don't make potential clients search for information they need to give you their money! 💰 In This Episode, We're Talking About: ✨ Why wanting more clients isn't enough—you need to prepare for them ✨ Making your business location visible to potential customers ✨ How to turn social media followers into actual appointments ✨ Why your booking process needs to be simple and convenient ✨ Preparing your schedule and services for new client inquiries ✨ Making sure potential clients understand what you offer ✨ Why marketing to people who can actually visit your business matters ✨ How small changes in your marketing can create opportunities for additional income ✨ Getting your business ready BEFORE investing more money in advertising 🚨 More Followers Don't Automatically Mean More Clients! Imagine creating a TikTok video that reaches 50,000 people. That's exciting! But what happens when someone watches your video and thinks: "I would LOVE to book an appointment with her!" Then they visit your profile and can't find your location. They don't know if you're in Texas, California, Florida, or somewhere else. They can't find your booking link. They don't know how much your services cost. And instead of sending you a message to ask, they simply move on. You just made it harder for a potential client to spend money with your business! 📈 Prepare Your Business for the Clients You Want! Before you start asking for 10, 20, or 30 additional clients every month, ask yourself: Can my business handle more appointments? Is my booking system ready? Are my prices and services clearly listed? Does my social media tell people where I'm located? Am I making it convenient for new clients to do business with me? Do I have a plan to turn first-time appointments into repeat clients? Getting more clients isn't just about creating content. It's about building a business that makes the entire customer experience easy—from discovering you online to booking that first appointment. 💡 Stop Hiding Your Business From Potential Clients! If you're a local esthetician, your location is part of your marketing strategy! You don't need everyone on TikTok to become your client. You need the RIGHT people, in the RIGHT location, to know your business exists! And when those potential clients find you, make sure you're prepared to welcome them. Because the goal isn't simply MORE VIEWS. The goal is MORE APPOINTMENTS, MORE CLIENTS, and MORE REVENUE! 🎧 Listen to EP 225: More Clients or More $$$? and discover why preparing your business for new clients should be part of your growth strategy. 🎓 Join the SLI Online Esthetician School Want to become a better esthetician AND a stronger beauty business owner? EP 224: Banning TCA Peels in CA & What it Means for All Estheticians

ESTHETICIANS: What happens when a treatment you've been trained to perform is no longer permitted under your license? 🚨 In Episode 224 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we're talking about the controversy surrounding TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) chemical peels in California and why every licensed esthetician, regardless of what state you practice in, needs to pay attention. Chemical peels have been part of the professional skincare industry for years. Estheticians invest in advanced education, purchase professional products, and build services around treatments their clients want. 🚨 Why California's TCA Peel Restrictions Matter This conversation goes beyond one chemical peel or one state. We're discussing what happens when licensing regulations, professional education, and the services estheticians offer don't always align. 💆🏽‍♀️ In This Episode, We're Talking About: ✨ California's restrictions involving TCA chemical peels ✨ Why estheticians in other states should pay attention to California's regulatory developments 🚨 Estheticians in EVERY State Need to Pay Attention! Just because something is happening in California doesn't mean it will automatically happen in your state. Your professional license is part of your livelihood. Protecting it means staying educated, understanding the rules, and making informed decisions about the treatments you offer. 🎧 Listen to EP 224: Banning TCA Peels in CA & What It Means for All Estheticians and join this important conversation about the future of professional esthetics. 🎓 Join the SLI Online Esthetician School Being a successful esthetician requires more than knowing how to perform treatments. Ep 223: Why I Wear Gloves For Every Service

Estheticians, are you wearing gloves during EVERY service? 🧤 In Episode 223 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, I’m sharing why wearing gloves for every service has become a non-negotiable part of how I work as an esthetician. We talk so much about protecting our clients—but who is protecting the esthetician? Throughout your career, your hands come into contact with clients’ skin, skincare products, exfoliants, waxes, tools, equipment, surfaces, and potentially bodily fluids. When you're performing services day after day and client after client, those repeated exposures matter. For me, wearing gloves is about protection, sanitation, consistency, and professionalism. 🧤 In This Episode, We’re Talking About: ✨ Why I choose to wear gloves for every service ✨ Protecting yourself AND your clients ✨ Why your hands are an important part of your livelihood ✨ Cross-contamination in the treatment room ✨ Why gloves still need to be changed during a service ✨ Why wearing gloves does NOT replace proper handwashing ✨ Creating consistent sanitation habits with every client ✨ Thinking about long-term exposure when you perform services every day 💡 Protect the Esthetician Too! As beauty professionals, we're trained to think about the health and safety of our clients—but we need to think about ourselves too. Your hands are working every single day. Protect them. For me, gloves aren't something I save for certain services. Wearing them has become part of my professional standard for EVERY service. And remember: simply putting on gloves doesn't eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination. If you touch your phone, a cabinet, a dirty tool, the trash can, or another contaminated surface with your gloves, you may need to change your gloves before continuing the service. Good infection-control practices require awareness throughout the entire appointment. 🎧 Listen to EP 223: Why I Wear Gloves Every Service and hear why I've made this choice throughout my career as an esthetician. 🎓 Want More Esthetician Education? EP 221: Working Within Your Scope of Practice

Just because a client asks you to do something doesn't mean it's within your scope of practice. In Episode 221 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we're talking about something EVERY esthetician needs to understand: working within your professional scope of practice. As estheticians, we want to help our clients. We want to provide solutions. We want them to see results. But there is a line between providing professional esthetic services and stepping into an area that may require a different license, credential, or healthcare professional. Knowing where that line is isn't about limiting your business. It's about protecting it. 🚨 “But I Saw Another Esthetician Doing It…” Social media can make it easy to assume that because another beauty professional is performing a treatment, recommending something, or making certain claims, you can do it too. That's not necessarily true. Your scope can depend on your license, training, service being performed, products or devices being used, and the laws and regulations where you practice. 🎧 Listen to EP 221: Working Within Your Scope of Practice on the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast. This episode is for educational purposes and is not legal or medical advice. Scope-of-practice requirements vary by jurisdiction. Check with your state licensing or regulatory authority for the rules that apply to your license. 🎓 Join the SLI Online Esthetician School Continue your education beyond the treatment room! EP 220: Everything Will Work Out!

🎙️ EP 220: Everything Will Work Out! Remember that situation you thought was TERRIBLE…until you looked back and realized it was one of the best things that could have happened to you? In Episode 220 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we're talking about something every entrepreneur needs to hear: Everything will work out—even when you can't see HOW it's going to work out yet. Running an esthetics business comes with moments that can make you question everything. A client leaves. Your schedule slows down. An employee quits. An opportunity falls through. You lose money. A business relationship ends. You have to change a plan you were absolutely certain was going to work. And while you're IN the situation, it can feel like everything is going wrong. But then six months, a year, or even several years later, you look back and realize: That situation redirected me to something BETTER. 💡 Remember What You've Already Survived Think about some of the situations in your life and business that once kept you up at night. At the time, you couldn't see the solution. But somehow, you figured it out. You made another decision. You found another opportunity. You changed directions. You learned something you needed to learn. And sometimes the thing you were fighting so hard to KEEP was exactly what you needed to LET GO of. ❤️ You Don't Have to Have the Entire Answer Today As business owners, we want to know: What's going to happen? Where is the money going to come from? How am I going to fix this? Did I make the right decision? What if this doesn't work? Sometimes you won't have those answers immediately. That doesn't mean you stop working toward the solution. It means you remind yourself: I've been in difficult situations before, and I figured them out. I can figure this one out too. ✨ What If This Is Redirecting You? Instead of only asking, "Why is this happening to me?" Try asking: "Where could this be taking me?" That change you didn't want may create an opportunity you couldn't see. That "NO" may force you to find a better YES. That ending may finally give you room to start something new. And that business problem you're dealing with today may eventually become the experience you use to help someone else tomorrow. 🎧 Everything Will Work Out! You don't need to pretend difficult situations aren't difficult. You don't have to ignore the numbers or avoid making hard decisions. But you also don't have to assume that today's problem is your final outcome. Look at everything you've already made it through. Look at the decisions that once scared you but ultimately changed your life for the better. You couldn't see the ending then. Maybe you can't see the ending now either. Keep going. Keep making decisions. Keep learning. Keep adjusting. And remember: Everything will work out. 🎧 Listen to EP 220: Everything Will Work Out! on the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast. 🎓 Join the SLI Online Esthetician School You don't have to figure out every part of your esthetics business alone. EP 219: Do You Offer Sunday Appointments?

Estheticians, have you ever considered opening your schedule on Sundays? 📅💰 In Episode 219 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we’re talking about whether offering Sunday appointments could create an additional revenue opportunity for your esthetics business. For many clients, Monday through Friday appointments simply don't work. They have jobs, children, school, long commutes, and busy schedules. Even Saturdays can be difficult. So what happens when your clients are available on Sunday—but you're closed? 💰 Could Sunday Become a Revenue Day? This episode isn't about telling every esthetician that she needs to work seven days a week. It's about looking at your business differently and asking: Is there demand for appointments at a time I'm currently unavailable? Maybe you don't need to offer Sundays every week. What about: ✨ One Sunday per month✨ Two Sundays per month✨ Sunday appointments during your busiest season✨ Limited Sunday hours✨ Premium-priced Sunday appointments✨ Special Sunday events or treatment days Sometimes growing your revenue doesn't require finding hundreds of new clients. It may require making it easier for the clients who already want your services to actually book with you. 📊 Look at YOUR Business Before Deciding Before opening another day, look at the numbers. Are clients asking for Sunday appointments? Are your Saturdays consistently booked? Do you have clients who struggle to find appointments around their work schedules? Would Sunday availability generate enough revenue to justify giving up that time? And most importantly: Does adding Sunday support the business and lifestyle you're trying to build? More availability doesn't automatically mean more profit. Your goal should be to create a schedule that makes sense financially without creating a business that requires you to work every day to survive. 🗓️ You Control Your Schedule Being a business owner gives you the ability to experiment. Try one Sunday. Market it. See how quickly it books. Track how much revenue you generate. Then decide whether Sunday appointments deserve a permanent place on your calendar. Don't assume your clients won't book a day you've never offered them. 🎧 Listen to EP 219: Do You Offer Sunday Appointments? and decide whether Sunday could become your next opportunity to generate additional income. 🎓 Grow Your Esthetics Business With SLI Join the SLI Online Esthetician School for only $30/month for advanced esthetic education, The Money Podcast, marketing strategies, business training, revenue ideas, challenges, and more! 👉 JOIN THE SLI ONLINE ESTHETICIAN SCHOOL: https://www.skool.com/sli-online-esthetician-school-5829/about

EP 218: When Do You Give Yourself Money?

Daily? Weekly? Monthly? When does the money your business makes actually become YOUR money? 💰 In Episode 218 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, we’re having an important conversation every esthetician and beauty business owner needs to have: When do you pay yourself? You make $300 today—do you immediately transfer money to your personal account? You have a $2,000 week—do you decide what you can personally spend based on what came in? Or do you have an actual system for determining when and how much your business pays you? There’s a big difference between your business making money and YOU making money. 💰 Daily, Weekly or Monthly? There isn’t one payment schedule that works for every beauty business. What matters is creating a system instead of randomly taking money whenever it's available. In this episode, we're discussing what it looks like to pay yourself: DAILY: Are you constantly transferring money out of your business based on what you made that day? WEEKLY: Would a scheduled weekly payment give you more consistency while allowing your business to maintain the cash it needs? MONTHLY: Would paying yourself a set amount each month help you separate your personal finances from the financial needs of your business? The bigger question isn't simply WHEN do you pay yourself? It's: Does your business have enough money left after you pay yourself to continue operating? 🚨 Every Dollar That Comes In Isn't Yours to Spend Your business has responsibilities. Products.Supplies.Rent.Payroll.Taxes.Marketing.Software.Insurance.Education.Inventory.Unexpected expenses. If you treat every deposit as personal income, you can have a business generating thousands of dollars in revenue while constantly wondering: “Where did all the money go?” Revenue is not the same thing as profit—and your bank balance isn't automatically your paycheck. 💵 Create a Pay-Yourself System Instead of deciding how much money you can take based on what's sitting in your account today, start asking: How much can my business consistently afford to pay me? Then create a schedule. Whether that's weekly, twice a month, or monthly, paying yourself intentionally can help you understand what your business is REALLY producing. Your goal isn't just to own a business that makes money. Your business should eventually be able to PAY YOU. 🎧 Listen to EP 218: When Do You Give Yourself Money? and think about how you're currently paying yourself from your esthetics business. 🎓 Want More Conversations About MONEY?
