These Two Cousins From Ecuador Went From $0 to $500K/yr in 2.5 Years | The Booked Out Cleaners Series (#132)

Today on Self Maid, I'm chatting with two more of my Booked Out Cleaners members — Seb and David, cousins from Ecuador who run BCA Commercial Cleaning Services on the Gold Coast. They moved to Australia young, started the business with no experience and English as their second language, and spent their first eight months so scared of losing clients that they stopped chasing new ones altogether. Then something shifted. In the last six months alone they've doubled the business from $250k to half a million a year in recurring revenue, with a team of seven. We get into what actually broke it open: the $3,500 they paid to learn cold email (only to realise it was already sitting in my course), why they went all-in on commercial, and the moment they realised they'd been losing money the whole time. Seb and David are brutally honest about the ego, the scarcity mindset they had, and why blaming anyone but yourself keeps you stuck. If you're an outsider building something in a market that isn't yours, or you're still charging what you're comfortable with instead of what you're worth, this one's for you. How Ash Went From $0 to $400K/Yr in 21 Months | The Booked Out Cleaners Series (#129)

Today on Self Maid, I'm chatting with another one of my Booked Out Cleaners members, Ash, from Advanced Commercial Cleaning, about 90 minutes outside Melbourne in rural Victoria. Ash was bartending when a manager told him they couldn't find a good cleaner and that he'd probably be good at it. He got an ABN, took the shifts, and joined my coaching program in his first month of business. A year and nine months later, he's approaching half a million dollars in recurring revenue off just 24 clients, with 12 contractors running the work, in a town most people would say is too small to build anything in. In this episode, we get into the real story. The two days of walking into businesses that turned into 6-figures in recurring revenue, the hiring rule everyone told him never to break that's given him his best workers, and the chair that went through a client's wall on his second ever clean, and why owning up to it is still paying him back today. Whether you're deciding between commercial and residential, or wondering how to win clients without spending a cent on ads, Ash is refreshingly open about the wins, the mistakes, and the six months where he was crying in the shower before any of it worked. Have a listen, and if it lands, share it with someone who needs to hear it.  You can follow Ash on Instagram @flashnorriss Follow Jason Shipway on social media to stay up to date. He Chose Business Over a Nursing Degree and Hit $140K/Yr in a Year | The Booked Out Cleaners Series (#128)

Today on Self Maid, I'm chatting with another one of my Booked Out Cleaners members, Julian, from Dust Till Dawn Cleaning, up in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. Julian was studying nursing at uni and thinking about switching to a business degree, until he did the maths: three years of theory and a piece of paper, or three years of actually building something. He picked house cleaning because it was the one home service with real recurring revenue, and started from scratch at 21 in a town of 40,000 people he shares with the big franchises. Twelve months later he's at $140K in recurring revenue, ranking number one locally on Google, and he signed his first employee's contract the morning we recorded this. In this episode, we get into the real story. The letterbox drop that ate thousands of dollars and returned exactly one lead, the quote overhaul that took him from a 10% close rate to 40% in a single quarter, the free Google Maps scraping method that won him a mechanic shop, two accounting firms and a medical clinic, and the quarterly business health check he runs through AI that told him what to fix before he knew it was broken. Whether you're in a small town wondering if there's enough work to go around, or you're stuck saying yes to every one-off job that walks through the door, Julian is refreshingly honest about the trial and error, the half of his revenue he burnt learning, and what it actually feels like to hire people twenty years older than you at twenty two. Have a listen, and if it lands, share it with someone who needs to hear it. Follow Jason Shipway on social media to stay up to date.
