    101. What Got You to 500 Weekly Visits Won't Get You to 1,000 w/ Dr. Michael Poulsen

Dr. Tony Ebel introduces The Family Practice Podcast and interviews Dr. Mike Poulsen of Coast Family Chiropractic in Adelaide, Australia, who traveled to the U.S. to shadow PWC and train with PX Brick Builders. Dr. Michael describes rapid startup growth to about 500 visits per week in under two years, with two associates and an 11-person team, and shares the current challenge of transitioning from “raging bull” operator to the leader needed to scale from 500 to 1,000 without burnout while balancing family life.  ------  Links & Resources:  FREE PX Trainings The Proven Path to a Thriving Family PracticeHow Data-Driven Chiros Are Dominating with Today's ParentsThe NeuroAGE of Perinatal Chiropractic is HereJoin 1,000+ Docs in the PX Membership  Attend a Neuro-Tonal Certification & Adjusting Seminar (20 CEs!) ------  Key Moments:  01:14 Meet Dr Mike Poulson 06:16 Growth Obsession Check-In 11:33 Raging Bull vs Freedom Culture 13:46 Pre-Opening Foundations 15:39 Associate Lessons and Coaching 18:16 INSIGHT Scans and Systems 20:03 Brand Congruency and Marketing 22:54 Nervous System Messaging That Works 25:51 Social Media Strategy 30:28 Stabilize And Delegate 31:43 Growth Goals Next Phase 35:11 Leadership Time Blocking 35:50 PX Mission Big Picture ------  Want more of The Family Practice Podcast?  Subscribe to our YouTube channel. 99. It’s Not Burnout. It’s Distraction.

Dr. Tony Ebel argues that chiropractors have an unprecedented opportunity to grow brick-and-mortar family practices if they stay focused rather than chasing side hustles or “passive income.” He contrasts Door A—doubling down on proven practice growth, including multi-location expansion—with Door B—starting unrelated ventures like real estate, coaching, or product businesses, which he says commonly distract successful clinic owners and increase burnout. Citing general business statistics (about 50% fail by five years and ~70% of second businesses fail within five years), he urges chiropractors to scale what they already know. He explains his own three aligned business layers and outlines a success blueprint centered on subluxation/nervous system-focused chiropractic amid rising public interest in wellness, while warning against adding ancillary offerings that dilute focus. ------  Links & Resources:  FREE PX Trainings The Proven Path to a Thriving Family PracticeHow Data-Driven Chiros Are Dominating with Today's ParentsThe NeuroAGE of Perinatal Chiropractic is HereJoin 1,000+ Docs in the PX Membership  Attend a Neuro-Tonal Certification & Adjusting Seminar (20 CEs!) ------  Key Moments:  01:15 The Opportunity Is Now 02:40 Burnout and Distraction 04:34 Door A vs Side Hustles 05:47 My Three Business Layers 07:38 The Failure Rate Math 13:31 Scale What You Know 15:30 Why Side Hustles Fail 18:45 Blueprint Focus on Subluxation 20:34 Wellness Trends and Pitfalls 25:58 Team and Overhead Strategy ------  Want more of The Family Practice Podcast?  Subscribe to our YouTube channel. 97. Take the Leap: Hiring & Expanding Before You Feel Ready w/ Dr. Rudy Bersani

Dr. Matt Hill interviews Dr. Rudy Bersani of Living Water Chiropractic in Texas about taking “the leap” to hire and expand before growth fully arrives. Rudy shares that his current team includes him and his wife Dr. Ashley, 2 married associate chiropractors, and 8 CAs, and emphasizes that leadership and culture are the hardest and most rewarding parts. He describes how repeated hiring of the right team members improved patient experience and led to growth, alongside major space transitions from a tiny room attached to a hair salon to a 1,300-square-foot office and an upcoming 4,200-square-foot building targeted for completion this fall. Rudy discusses faith-driven purpose, serving difficult pediatric and complex cases, navigating profit-margin shifts, training demands, team changes, and integrating family life after welcoming a baby, while encouraging listeners to focus on mission beyond numbers. ------  Links & Resources:  FREE PX Trainings The Proven Path to a Thriving Family PracticeHow Data-Driven Chiros Are Dominating with Today's ParentsThe NeuroAGE of Perinatal Chiropractic is HereJoin 1,000+ Docs in the PX Membership  Attend a Neuro-Tonal Certification & Adjusting Seminar (20 CEs!) ------  Key Moments:  01:33 Meet Dr Rudy Bersani 03:44 Current Team Breakdown 06:54 From Grind to Vision 12:11 Hiring Before Ready 14:03 Space Upgrades and Pivots 16:11 Purpose Over Profit 25:33 Emotional Leap and Season 26:30 Training New Docs 28:21 Hiring And Culture Lessons 29:38 Patient Wins Keep You Going 30:52 Foundation Over Vanity Metrics 34:06 Family First Daily Rhythms 37:03 Servant Leadership In Action 38:51 Holding The Culture Standard 41:40 Consistency Through Ebbs Flows 43:58 New Building Expansion Plans 46:09 Internships And Teaching Next Gen 47:45 Purpose Driven Closing Advice ------  Want more of The Family Practice Podcast?  Subscribe to our YouTube channel. 95. Most Chiropractors Hire Too Late (And Pay For It)

Dr. Tony Ebel hosts The Family Practice Podcast and argues chiropractors burn out not from patient care but from doing non-doctor tasks they should delegate. He teaches a hiring framework aimed at maximizing growth while protecting profitability: fully staff four CA roles before hiring an associate, targeting roughly a 4:1 CA-to-solo-doc ratio. The roles are (1) front desk CA for scheduling, payments, office flow, tours, and patient connection; (2) office coordinator/integrator to run operations, SOPs, team meetings, billing, intake calls, and financial report findings; (3) tech CA to handle scans and/or X-rays around 100–200 visits/week, with scheduling tips to concentrate scanning shifts; and (4) marketing/social media CA (often cross-trained) plus tech tools like PX Marketing Engine. He shares how early hiring helped build a million-dollar practice in 3.5 years and enabled him to focus on adjusting, communicating, and marketing. ------  Links & Resources:  FREE PX Trainings The Proven Path to a Thriving Family PracticeHow Data-Driven Chiros Are Dominating with Today's ParentsThe NeuroAGE of Perinatal Chiropractic is HereJoin 1,000+ Docs in the PX Membership  Attend a Neuro-Tonal Certification & Adjusting Seminar (20 CEs!) ------  Key Moments:  01:23 Hiring Too Late 03:39 Framework Four CAs 05:14 Front Desk CA Role 07:55 Julie Ash Story 13:48 Things Docs Should Not Do 15:38 Office Coordinator Integrator 18:55 Finances Are Not A Doctor’s Job 20:59 New Patient Calls Handoff 23:20 Spreadsheet Team Member Traits 23:57 Offload Admin Tasks 25:26 Doctor Role Essentials 29:07 Hire Three Tech CA 33:51 Scheduling Scan Tech Shifts 35:40 Social Media Marketing CA ------  Want more of The Family Practice Podcast?  Subscribe to our YouTube channel. 94. From Pain-Based Care to Pediatric Miracles: How Her Son Changed Everything

Dr. Matt Hill interviews Dr. Christie Hafer on The Family Practice Podcast about shifting from a traditional pain-based chiropractic model to neurologically focused pediatric and family care after her son Landon’s early childhood challenges, including meltdowns, speech and vision issues, poor sleep with night terrors, motor tics, and school concerns. After learning Dr. Tony Ebel’s “Perfect Storm” approach and implementing scans and care plans, she saw major improvements, including Landon succeeding in kindergarten and later thriving in high school athletics and academics. The episode covers her decision to become insurance-free by 2018, the difficult patient and team transitions, and how workshops, community relationships, and referrals from other providers helped grow the practice. They discuss increasingly complex cases, COVID-era developmental impacts, balancing family life with practice, and internship/associate opportunities at Purpose Driven Chiropractic in Eagle, Idaho. ------  Links & Resources:  FREE PX Trainings The Proven Path to a Thriving Family PracticeHow Data-Driven Chiros Are Dominating with Today's ParentsThe NeuroAGE of Perinatal Chiropractic is HerePain to Peds Playbook + Course Join 1,000+ Docs in the PX Membership  Attend a Neuro-Tonal Certification & Adjusting Seminar (20 CEs!) ------  Key Moments: 01:34 Meet Dr Christie Hafer 03:58 A Mom in Crisis 05:31 Searching for Answers 07:48 Discovering Perfect Storm 10:59 First Care Plan Wins 22:12 From Pain to Peds 24:50 Hard Conversations and Rebuild 26:11 Letting Go of Maintenance 28:58 Harder Neuro Cases Today 32:08 COVID + Perfect Storm Kids 34:41 Joy and Hard Conversations 37:31 Hope Dealing and Trust 40:54 Workshops and Referrals 44:06 Partnering With Therapists 46:31 Balancing Family Practice 51:55 Practice Info and Interns ------  Want more of The Family Practice Podcast?  Subscribe to our YouTube channel.
