A worthy listen

I listened to an episode then proceeded to listen to 5 others nonstop. I typically don’t write reviews but my goodness, the impact and overwhelming sense of understanding, while also gaining such insightful views of diabetes management and lifestyles is worth the 5 stars and a listen if you’re thinking about it. I’ve had type one for 20+ years now and the importance of having an understanding of the why and a connection to yourself/health ~ life changing. You’re a breathe of fresh air and I’m so happy to have found this podcast! Thank you, cannot wait for more to come!!
Things I Wish my Endo Told me
Jul 24
I’ve learned so much from listening to your podcast! I wasn’t diagnosed as a type 1 until 68. Well, I wasn’t actually diagnosed as type 1 for a year. My Endo said the results couldn’t be right at my age & treated me for type 2. I had a reaction to the insulin he gave me, metformin & heat! My blood sugar shot to 600. I landed in 3 hospitals in one week for problems. The first 2 hospitals released me & send me home supposedly controlled. The 3rd one wanted to release me but I said NO! Later the critical care PA said, “Oh! You’re in ketoacidosis. No wonder you’re having trouble.” Six Endos later, I’m still shocked at what they don’t tell me. Just recently my horse fell on me & fractured my L1 vertebrae. The pain was dramatic & spiked my blood sugar. I ran out of insulin & sent several notes to my Endo to refill. In Indiana you must have an RX & mine wasn’t to be refilled for a week. CVS said if I needed insulin to go to the ER. No quick response from Endo office so I had to drive 3 hrs to IL for more. When they did call, they said that I had 2 refills still. I phone strangled! Obviously they didn’t read or understand my messages. Thanks for all the great info! I learned about the Omnipod from your podcast. Now I will look at the Mobi & check out the Loop app. Randy

This podcast is covering some of the most important aspects of diabetes management in relatable, digestible episodes. Not only will you learn information that will have you wondering “why have I never heard this from my endo?” You’ll also feel a sense of camaraderie that one might only think can be achieved at diabetes camp. The amount I’ve learned in only a few episodes has me reenergized (after 21 years with T1D) to prioritize all the steps we “know” we need to take - but with a deeper understanding and connection to the “why” 😊
