THE OPPORTUNIST SEASON TWO IS AVAILABLE NOW!

Robert Courtney was an upstanding Kansas City pharmacist and family man who was deeply devoted to his church. Courtney owned and operated two pharmacies and was perceived as an innovative businessman. His wealth was apparent to people in Kansas City in the 90’s— he lived in a $700,000 home and collected sports cars. It all came crashing down in 2001 when an oncologist discovered that Courtney had been diluting chemotherapy medications. She tipped off the FBI and the Courtney investigation became the FBI’s number one priority in 2001 up until 9/11. Courtney claimed that he started diluting the medication to pay a $600,000 IRS bill and to honor his pledge of $1 million to his church. But his greed, and the fact that he got away with it, led him to dilute more and more medications. In the end, over 98,000 prescriptions were diluted, over 4,000 patients were affected and almost 200 people died as a result. One of the most shocking aspects of this whole story is that it took 10 years for Courtney to get caught and if it weren't for one woman, he would still be working as a pharmacist today. How is that possible? We explore that question along with the even scarier question: Could this happen again?

    Sibling Stalker

    Sibling Stalker

Olivia grew up in a large family affected by mental illness, suicide, alcoholism and drug addiction.

After Olivia’s older sister was released from a mental institution for exhibiting criminal behavior, she became obsessed with her.

She emailed Olivia’s acquaintances and other family members claiming that Olivia lied, stole, cheated, and was abusive.

She repeatedly drove by Olivia’s house, leaving notes in her mailbox threatening to reveal dark family secrets, and later became the prime suspect for vandalizing Olivia’s house.

Olivia was forced to take a drastic step against her family in order to protect herself, her husband, and her children.

    Dangerous Grounds: Stalking Jessica

    Dangerous Grounds: Stalking Jessica

Jessica and her family started experiencing unexplained occurrences around her home: knocking on windows in the middle of the night, random objects left in their backyard, and their dogs being let out of the gate.

She discovered an older man from her neighborhood was responsible for this bizarre behavior.

Jessica turned to law enforcement officials but most were dismissive; some even defended her stalker.

She was eventually granted a trespass warning against her stalker—which only intensified his behavior.

After a court hearing a judge awarded her a stalking injunction, but Jessica and her family continued to live in fear.

As a result of her experience, Jessica began working on her Doctorate, researching the brain’s reaction to trauma, in particular PTSD and CPTSD.

Her next mission is to develop training for law enforcement on how they can better address the crime of stalking and the impact of that trauma.

    Unfit Behavior: Stalking Jordyn

    Unfit Behavior: Stalking Jordyn

**The following episode of Strictly Stalking contains descriptions of sexual assault. Listener discretion is advised.**

While working out at the gym, Jordyn noticed an attractive man watching her.

He eventually asked her out, but after the first date Jordyn wasn’t interested.

But the next day he offered to help her with her upcoming move and she agreed. That day he attempted to sexually assault her multiple times...and prevented her from leaving — then told her that they were in a relationship and he was her boyfriend.

She played the role as his girlfriend in the moment to pacify him and not further escalate the situation. She went to the police but felt re-victimized by the officer handling her situation.

Her stalker immediately began leaving her excessive voicemails, begging her to talk to him.

After she encountered her stalker multiple times in public, she began having panic attacks. Even though one of her college professors tried to intervene with advice…her grades and participation in school suffered.

Anonymous No More: To Catch A Stalker

Anonymous No More: To Catch A Stalker

Lifestyle bloggers Lauryn and Elise were stalked by the same man.

Lauren received disturbing messages on social media and then turned the tables on her perpetrator and hacked into his email.

When she turned to the police they told her there’s nothing they could do and said, "what did you expect when you have a public profile online?"

Undeterred, she spoke out publicity about her stalking case at a live event and her story went viral.

After sharing her story she met Elise who she learned was stalked by the same man years earlier.

He sent Elise sexually explicit emails and then created an alias on Poshmark so he could buy articles of her used clothing and then share with her about how special it was to have some of her things.

Like Lauryn, Elise launched her own investigation and found out information about his business, his wife, and where he lives.

    Tracking Her Moves: Stalking Robin

**The following episode of Strictly Stalking contains descriptions of domestic violence and  sexual assault. Listener discretion is advised.**

At the end of her senior year of high school, Robin was swept off her feet by her cousin’s best friend.

He began love bombing her with candy, flowers, and gifts…and shortly thereafter, he proposed.

Six months into their marriage he began pressuring her to bring home another girl, telling her not to come home if she didn’t.

He became abusive, calling her names, throwing and breaking things, shoving her out of bed, slamming her into things, and sexually assaulting her.

She was able to escape...but through his law enforcement connections, he tracked her whereabouts.

As a result of this terrifying ordeal, Robin lost her job, friends, and almost her life.

Stories are great, but show itself could use some work…

These stories are very interesting to me and at least have the potential to have you on the edge of your seat. The hosts ask good questions most of the time, however, they don’t guide the victim through the story enough to get a clear timeline of events. This can cause me to lose interest especially if the person isn’t a very good story teller. It’s up to the interviewer to make sure everything stays on track.
The only other complaint I have is THE HORRIBLY ANNOYING ADS. Please stop trying to make up clever ways to sell the product based on “your experience”. Like someone else said it’s cringe-worthy and only makes me dart for the skip button to get past them. Just let the sponsor write the ad script for you, please.

Best Podcast!

This podcast has been a longtime favorite of mine! It shines a light on so many important topics, not just stalking, but also PTSD, cyber crime, the justice system, and law enforcement. There is such a lack of awareness and knowledge in regards to an issue so many people face on a daily basis.

I’m thankful for a platform that provides an opportunity for people to share their stories and offer advice. It makes an true impact.

I’m always looking forward to Tuesdays for new episodes!

Great pod

Totally recommend for anyone seeking validation and connection after going through something that felt victimizing. Great hosts.
