What Are You Being Called to Do? Finding Purpose in Your Life Story | Jake de Guzman (S4 E14)

What if the seemingly disconnected chapters of your life are actually pointing you toward your purpose? Jake de Guzman has spent much of his life wrestling with some of our biggest questions: Why am I here? What am I being called to do? How can my gifts, experiences, and passions be of service to others? His own path has been anything but linear. From Jesuit formation to television production, finance, entrepreneurship, teaching leadership, writing, coaching, and even competing as a triathlete, Jake describes a journey that often only made sense when he looked at it through the “rearview mirror.” Today, Jake is an author, teacher, producer, and coach who helps people explore the intersection of leadership, spirituality, psychology, storytelling, and purpose. His book, The Call to Lead: Ignatian Wisdom and the Journey to Leading, brings together Ignatian spirituality, the Enneagram, psychology, narrative theory, and practical leadership development to help people better understand themselves and discern how they are being called to serve.   In this episode of Sunday SoulDay, we explore the threads connecting Jake’s unconventional journey and what they can teach us about our own.   We talk about moving from Jesuit formation into an entirely different life, recognizing purpose in hindsight, and why our experiences may be more connected than they initially appear.   Jake also takes us deeper into the Enneagram, including why knowing your “type” is only the beginning. We explore how our upbringing, expectations, identities, and the roles we learn to play can shape our patterns, and how greater self-awareness can help us distinguish those patterns from who we are becoming.   We also discuss Ignatian spirituality, the Hero’s Journey, life stories and genograms, leadership formation, and why some of our greatest struggles can become invitations for growth.   And ultimately, we return to the question at the heart of Jake’s work:   What are you being called to do with the life you’ve been given?   If you're navigating a crossroads, reconsidering your purpose, trying to understand the patterns in your own story, or simply sensing that there may be something deeper calling you forward, this conversation is for you.   🔔 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to catch weekly purpose-driven conversations that fuel your mind, body, and soul.   Hosted by: Damesha Craig, Leadership Strategist and Purpose Alchemist | Founder, Leadership Garden OS™ & Leadership Garden AI™ | Executive Coach | Host, Sunday SoulDay™ | Publisher, The Soul Fueler Journal™   Connect with Damesha Craig 🔗: https://www.dameshacraig.com 🌱: https://www.leadershipgarden.ai 📬: https://dameshacraig.substack.com/ 🔗: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dameshacraig/ 📸 : https://www.instagram.com/dameshacraig/ 🔗: https://www.youtube.com/@sundaysoulday     Be a Guest: Email us: sundaysouldaypodcast@gmail.com www.sundaysoulday.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
