How Your Mind Affects Your Health with Dr. Kim D’Eramo
Our guest today is physician, author, and founder of the American Institute of MindBody Medicine, Dr. Kim D’Eramo. Dr. D’Eramo started her career in Emergency Medicine. There, she observed that many patients with chronic illness had a mental and emotional component that kept them in their disease. After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder herself, she was forced to confront the shortcomings of the medical world that she knew so well. She embarked on a healing journey and now dedicates her career to sharing the power of mind-body medicine on her YouTube channel and in her book, The MindBody Toolkit: 10 Tools to Increase Your Energy, Enhance Productivity, and Even Reverse Disease. Dr. D’Eramo empowers us to heal and get happy by tapping into the body’s inherent wisdom.
So tune in as we discuss the principles of mind-body medicine, the power we have over our health, and so much more!
“There’s a lot of wrongness that gets put on ill health. Like, I used to do this to myself. Like, oh my God, why did I get sick? I didn’t drink enough water. I shouldn’t have eaten that thing. Shouldn’t have had that glass of wine. Like, I would destroy myself over being tired, and I realized after years that’s really not what’s happening with illness. And so it isn’t like, it’s my fault I was abused. Or, it’s my fault I had chronic fatigue. Because we would never consciously choose any of that. But I can take responsibility. I can take 100% responsibility for all of the outcomes in my life, and until I’m willing to do that, I won’t access the power I can in order to change all of it. So, it’s really an invitation, and I would invite people to just really soften around where they feel wronged, or judged, or regretful. Like, if I’m that powerful, I should have figured this out years ago, and that’s not really true. Now is the moment. There’s never before. It’s only now.” – Dr. Kim D’Eramo
What we discuss in this episode:
What mind-body medicine is?
How our consciousness affects our physiology.
When Dr. D’Eramo awakened to the power of the mind-body connection.
What inspired her to go into the field of medicine?
How Dr. D’Eramo treats patients versus the way a traditional doctor treats patients.
How our electromagnetic field impacts our lives.
How Dr. D’Eramo healed herself from autoimmune disease.
The power of letting go of toxic patterns and being more present.
The importance of self-compassion.
How anxiety and depression are linked, and how Dr. D’Eramo treats them.

Live Better without Alcohol with James Swanwick
What if, by quitting or reducing your alcohol intake, you could see an improvement in your relationships, your health, your productivity, and even your appearance?
Our guest today is entrepreneur, journalist, and author James Swanwick. In 2010, James had his very last drink. As a result, his life improved dramatically. Now, he helps others take control of their drinking through his 30-Day Challenge and Project 90 programs. In his podcast, Alcohol-Free Lifestyle, and his book, The 30-Day No Alcohol Challenge: Your Simple Guide To Easily Reduce Or Quit Alcohol, James teaches casual drinkers how to change their relationship with alcohol.
Join us as James shares practical tips on how to reduce your desire for alcohol, how to socialize without drinking, and the myriad benefits of being alcohol-free!
“Now, in 2022, they did a study of 35,000 middle-aged Brits, and what they found was that one seemingly innocent glass of alcohol per night – seven standard drinks a week – was enough to cause some gray and white degeneration in the brain. So, gray and white matter in the brain. The bumper sticker for that is – one drink a night is enough to cause some level of brain damage. Now, how much brain damage? That depends on genetics, depends on how many years or decades you’ve been drinking before that. But in 2022, the latest neuroscience, 35,000, one drink a night is enough to cause gray and white matter damage in the brain. That should be a wake-up call to all of us.” – James Swanwick
What we discuss in this episode:
When and why James decided to stop drinking, and the immediate benefits he experienced as a result.
The social challenges James faced and overcame after he quit drinking.
How we’re conditioned to drink alcohol.
Why alcohol doesn’t provide stress relief.
What one drink per night does to the human brain.
Alcohol and testosterone.
Why alcohol is “attractively packaged poison.”
Alcohol and your skin.
What happens to your sleep quality when you drink alcohol?
What makes James’s program unique?
James’s tips for a great night’s sleep.

Eat to Beat Your Metabolism with Dr. William Li
Is it possible to turn back the clock on our metabolism, burn fat, and increase longevity, all while being able to enjoy the food we eat? According to our guest today, it most certainly is.
Dr. William Li is an internal medicine specialist, scientist, and New York Times best-selling author. His groundbreaking work in the field of angiogenesis – which is the process of developing new blood vessels in the body – has led to 40 new medical treatments for cancer, diabetes, and obesity, to name a few.
In his new book, Eat to Beat Your Diet: Burn Fat, Heal Your Metabolism, and Live Longer, Dr. Li shatters some of the myths we’ve been conditioned to believe about metabolism, weight loss, and the role fat plays in the human body.
In this wildly informative episode, we take a deep dive into what we should actually be eating and doing to be the healthiest, fittest version of ourselves!
“People go crazy about insulin spikes and glucose spikes. You know what? I sort of want people to kind of chill out about that because those things do happen. But if you listen to your body and be reasonable, your tank is running on empty, go fill up, don’t eat too much, don’t overflow your tank. Okay? If you’re at the gas station and when you put the nozzle in, and it goes click and you know the gas tank’s full, you put the nozzle away, and you drive off. Now, imagine if there was no clicker and the gas tank filled up. What would happen? The gas would come out of the tank, spill down the side of the car, around the tires, around your shoes, and guess what? You would be standing in a dangerous, flammable mess, toxic mess. That’s what happens when you overeat.” – Dr. William Li
What we discuss in this episode:
A clear and simple explanation of human metabolism.
The truth about body fat.
The importance of listening to your body and being mindful while you eat.
Sleep, fasting, and burning fat.
Dr. Li’s routine to optimize his metabolism.
How excess body fat slows your metabolism.
Why we gain weight in middle age and what we can do about it.
How chronic stress can cause weight gain?
The different types of fat.
How the body’s defenses can be activated by food.
How our immune system is linked to our metabolism.
Inflammation and excess body fat.
How to create balance in the body through food.
The dangers of processed foods to the metabolism and immune system.
Foods that can lengthen telomeres.
How foods with vitamin C can reduce inflammation.

Black Hair, Black Barbie, and Datemares with Actress Hayley Marie Norman
Today’s guest is best described as a multifaceted force of nature. Hayley Marie Norman is an actor, writer, activist, and podcast host. She’s lit up the screen with Hollywood legends Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Eddie Murphy, to name a few. In her wildly entertaining podcast called Datemare with Hayley Marie Norman, she brings her effervescence and comedic prowess to discussing her dating life post-divorce with notable guests and tales that will shock and delight. And as an activist in Hollywood, Hayley uses her platform to share the vegan message and shine a light on the cruelty and environmental destruction for which animal agriculture is responsible.
So join us today as we take a deep dive into everything from activism to adventure to affairs of the heart!
“Erykah Badu has this great quote that’s something along the lines of “vegan food or plant-based eating is the original soul food,” and it’s true because it is, and when I think about veganism I think about the government, the higher forces poisoning us for profit, because that’s essentially what is happening and what has happened since the beginning of time. And I think when black people were uprooted in the most brutal way possible and forced to come to America and start their lives over, I can’t even imagine, even though those are my ancestors, I can’t even imagine the brutality, and so I think that there was a level of you have to find joy and survive in whatever way you can when your circumstances are so brutal. So, I think that there was a level of this is what we’re given, and we’re going to make the best with what we have, and then like anything, these things get handed down, generation to generation, but I think that there is like a global awakening.” – Hayley Marie Norman
What we discuss in this episode:
Hayley’s journey to veganism and how eating a vegan diet affected her.
Her thoughts on the SAG and WGA strikes.
EMDR and EFT therapies and how they’ve been beneficial to Hayley.
The genesis of Hayley’s Datemare podcast and her baffling experiences on dating apps.
What it’s like for her to date as a vegan.
The chance encounter that launched Hayley’s acting career.
How Hayley remains true to herself and uses her platform to promote veganism.
That special Deal or No Deal episode, African-American Barbie, and a serious datemare.

Customer Reviews
Look forward to these podcasts
Switch4Good is one of those podcasts where I walk away feeling informed without being overwhelmed. The hosts make it enjoyable, all while covering interesting topics and asking excellent questions of their guests.
This is a very worth while way to spend some time…
Lots of terrific health tips and information for this decades old Grandmother vegetarian turned plant-baser, I’m very grateful for your work.
In particular, the show interviewing Diabetes Dietician Lauren Plunkett was terrific. Please continue in this vein, perhaps a Diabetes type 2 expert, a cancer survivor, etc. Hearing you two talk to people from other walks of life who can tell us how the plant-based diet has helped them manage their trouble spots is the best.
can’t thank you enough for all you do!
Best Health Podcast
I’ve listened to pretty much every episode and they are the best interviewers! They do their homework asking the best questions, and make it fun with stories and real life scenarios. You’ll feel more well rounded knowing every episode is a different doctor or specialist! Love this show!!
