Back to Eden! 1 Timothy 2-3. The Big Picture

Back to Eden! 1 Timothy 2-3. The Big Picture

Here's the BIG PICTURE on 1 Timothy. In 1 Timothy we get to read over Timothy's shoulder as he gets instructions from Paul on correcting wayward overseers in the church. Section Two of this letter, 1 Timothy 2:8-3:16, focuses on those who were guilty of Paul's three sins. These insights are VERY important when we try to look deeper at individual verses like 1 Timothy 2:12 and 3:2.

Back to Eden - Praying for Persecutors 1 Timothy 2:1-7

Back to Eden - Praying for Persecutors 1 Timothy 2:1-7

Paul's second sin was that of being a persecutor of the church. We are to pray for peace for the spread of the Good News and for the daily life of the church. How will this happen? We are to pray that actual and potential persecutors will not harm the believers in Christ as Paul had done. Furthermore we are to pray for their salvation. Even Paul, himself terrible persecutor, had given his life to Christ.

Beyond Eden, Ephesians 5-6. The Big Picture.

Beyond Eden, Ephesians 5-6. The Big Picture.

Something better than Eden? Something beyond Eden? Yes? Don't miss Paul's Great Revelation in Ephesians 5:32!
This passage starts in 5:15 and runs to 6:9 and 5:32 is the high point - the main idea - of the passage. What's not in this passage? It is not about hierarchy. It is not about male headship in the home. It is not about signs and wonders. But what Paul teaches takes us Beyond Eden to better relationships than those experienced in Genesis 2 in the Garden of Eden!

    Ephesians 5-6. The Detailed Picture!

    Ephesians 5-6. The Detailed Picture!

WHAT DO WE DO when we are Spirit-filled? Paul tells us in great detail in Ephesians 5, verses 19a to 21. Surprisingly there are no gifts or fruit described here. Paul tells us that Spirit-filled Christians teach and correct one another (verse 19a). Then they reciprocally submit to that teaching and correction from one another (verse 21)! This applies to all ages and backgrounds, male or female. This is life "beyond Eden" made possible by our union with Christ.

    Beyond Eden. Spirit-filled speaking

    Beyond Eden. Spirit-filled speaking

What are The Four Acts of the Spirit we discover in Ephesians 5? These Acts are presented in two linked pairs of action by Paul. Two are "one-another actions" (19a and 21). Two are "toward-God actions" (19b and 20).

Sweet Relief

I have chafed under the teaching that women are subordinate to men for decades. I have even doubted my salvation because I was “disobedient”, feeling that God was displeased with me because I was in silent rebellion to His Word. Thank you for finally setting me free to be all that God intended me to be.

God bless these translations

For so many years I felt like I was keeping a dirty secret by silently not swallowing the passages in Genesis and in Paul’s letters that apparently put women underneath men. They never sat right with me, and then I’d wonder that I was giving into my female inclination to subvert the authority of men as one interpretation of Eve’s “curse.” I finally feel I am not insane, and can fully see the goodness of God throughout the entirety of the scriptures. Thank you.

Grateful

This is exactly what I have needed to become better versed and educated. To feel firm in our faith and to find freedom from oppression through the word. Thank you for the clear and simple teachings.
