The Mommies are back with a new two-woman show, The Mommies: Their Last Trimester. But before we hear more about how Carly Kristensen and Marilyn Kentz brought this new show to life, my guests and I engaged in a hilarious and insightful conversation about all things beauty over 40. Join me for episode 41 of The GenX Experience Podcast, as we delve into the complexities of beauty and aging, sharing personal anecdotes and stories about how our perception of beauty evolves as we grow and age. We also discuss the pressures society places on women, the impact of the media, and the importance of embracing your unique journey. Then, we'll end the episode by hearing more about Caryl and Marilyn's experience having their own NBC sitcom and ABC talk show, as well as why they thought 30 years later was the perfect time to create a new stage show, The Mommies: Their LastTrimester. Guest Info: Caryl Kristensen is an artist, woodworker, farmer, and educator. After working in the entertainment industry, traveling the country, and visiting colleges for fun, she transitioned into a career as a college counselor. She worked at a private high school before co-founding LikeLive, a software company. This online tool provided students with the opportunity to conduct video interviews as part of their college application process. She then co-founded an independent college counseling practice. She is currently painting, growing flowers, and working on woodworking projects. She’s happy to be back in her happy place, helping other women laugh about their lives! Marilyn Kentz is an artist, author, comedian, grandmother, and all-around fearless woman. Kentz is a three-time published author and a one-time television personality. Kentz’ books include The Motherload, Not Your Mother’s Midlife, and Fearless Women. Her 2010 - 2014 stage show, “Will I Ever Wear a Bikini Again?” was a hit. In it, she explored the aging process, from the satisfaction of pulling that pesky chin hair to surviving the empty nest. Kentz reminded her audience, with hearty laughs and sighs of relief, that they are not alone. Show Info: The Mommies: Their Last Trimester In this effervescent, two-woman show, Caryl and Marilyn reflect on their accidental road to fame, and how easy it was to go down the Hollywood ladder. They bring to light the good, the bad, and the stupid, and how lost they were in the world of their NBC sitcom and ABC talk show. Now, 30 years later, the two former next-door neighbors are back on stage laughing about this new version of life as “Grand-Mommies.” They reveal their thoughts about aging in public, family, chin hairs, and anxiety over where to tap the credit card to finally hear the damn beep. Interwoven with nostalgic clips and humorous musical parodies, this show promises to be an unforgettable matinee.
