151: Kate Lyman Opens Up About How She Had Navigated Birth Trauma and Birth Injury as a Fitness Professional

Today I chatted with Kate Lyman, owner of KL Nutrition, P&PA Coach, and new mom. Kate gave birth one year ago and experienced the unexpected at her home birth as she pushed for 9 hours straight. As a result of her baby’s position, she underwent a severe tear and later realized she had a Pelvic Organ Prolapse. She has been working hard to overcome and heal from this experience and shares with us all of the details. Her hope is education and awareness around birth trauma and pelvic health increase for pregnant and postpartum moms.

GREAT for Pregnant/PP Mamas + Professionals!

This Podcast and the Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism courses and programs are such outstanding resources for moms going these chapters. As a mom, active duty Army officer, and certified P&PA Coach, Bri changed my life and her mentorship and education/training has been a launching pad to lead significant change for women across the Army in health & fitness through pregnancy and postpartum. As tactical athletes our careers and teams depend on our ability to maintain fitness through pregnancy, recover and return to a high level of performance postpartum. We need more support and trustworthy resources like this to meet those demands and standards, and approach it in a healthy, sustainable way with all we’re balancing. Thank you for living out this call and your inspiration to be who we needed. -Megan Gephart, Armed to the Heart Podcast
