Surprisingly balanced for the NYT
hace 3 días
The NYT is clearly trying to crawl out of the massive hole they have dug for themselves on this divisive issue. A decade of hard core, doctrinaire enforcement of every CRT/Marxist/TransRights talking point is finally softening to let some debate into the NYTs newsroom. Reporters were very unfair to the Whistleblower and allowing a parent who had sterilized her son to shout down their subject on tape was a bizarre choice; but the reporters, although clearly hard left and supportive of TransRights at least allowed some argument against Transgender treatments for minors to be aired.
Enlightening

I’m not quite sure what podcast the negative reviewers were listening to. I found this enlightening and informative, providing the history and backstory of how/why transgender youth are so vilified in today’s culture. I understand it is an extremely complicated issue and wholeheartedly agree that each child/teen/person must be thoroughly examined and their needs taken into account on a case by case basis. There is no “one size fits all” answer. I certainly did not find this podcast to be anti-trans, or even right or left leaning. It provided a roadmap to where we are today in the U.S…I found the information to be very centric. As a middle-aged cis female progressive, aunt to a trans female, I appreciated the information and will definitely recommend.
Some good information, lots of propaganda
hace 2 días
All the lets-trans-the-kids crowd one-staring this pod are demonstrative of just how unhinged and irrational this cultural movement is. There is, in fact, some good information in this, particularly a dive into the Dutch origins of so-called “gender medicine” (which is rapidly being walked back in the Netherlands). However, the NYT bias in favor of such Frankensteinian treatment of children is consistently present. From attacking a clinic whistleblower while allowing any pro-trans voice to drone on with impunity, to dedicating more time for activists to complain about the Cass report than actually explain what was in said report, to how these procedures are labeled (ALWAYS “care”), this is propaganda trying to feign objectivity. Still worth a listen if you have a high tolerance for such things.
Trust parents and doctors, not the NYT
hace 2 días
As someone who had the privilege of working with a gender clinic in the Midwest, I can promise you this isn’t a controversial issue. If it isn’t your kid, it isn’t your business. If you aren’t a pediatric endocrinologist, it isn’t your area of expertise. Stop targeting children and medical experts, New York Times. Your bigotry has no place in healthcare.
