    Big In Japan

Paul Nakayama sits down with Greg and Sother to talk about Nikaido Shochu. Paul's journey into the world of shochu began with a 12-hour boat ride to a remote Japanese island on his honeymoon. Now he and his wife are the first to import Nikaido Shochu to the US. Tune in to hear about the magic of Koji, the place it occupies in modern Japan, and how it works in cocktails and highballs. Spoiler alert, but one answer might actually be “with Cherry Coke.” Plus, the state of the world kinda sucks right now but don’t worry. Greg has a plan to fix it.

    Obviously You're Not a Golfer

    Obviously You're Not a Golfer

Golf. It’s a sport enjoyed by millions of people and it can also be almost as divisive as modern politics. Can it only be enjoyed by the landed gentry and the country club set? Turner Lewis doesn’t think so and he’s out to prove the haters wrong with Fore Craft Cocktails, a line of RTDs designed for the golf course but, as tested by our boundary-pushing hosts, also thoroughly drinkable off of one. The brand founder sits down with Greg and Sother to talk about getting a cocktail line up and running in less than a year (and during a pandemic no less) why he had to drive a rental truck overnight from Wisconsin to Virginia, and what he thinks about ruining a good walk. Plus, Greg has a golf course encounter of his own to share. Tune in to hear about it!

    Cristal Clear

Cristalino. What is it? Why is it? And perhaps most importantly, what does it taste like? Jaime Salas, Head of Agave Advocacy at Proximo Spirits sits down with Greg and Sother to talk about this latest innovation in the world of agave spirits, why it follows in a proud tradition of tequila innovation, and how he deals with the haters who need to be sold on his liquid. Plus, whiskey in Williamsburg, but probably not the one you’re thinking of. Greg is on an educational journey into the past, and he’s back to tell about it!

    Forage Ahead

Two of Suncliffe gins founders Ryan Lawrence and Tom Giddings join us to discuss how infusing vodka with items foraged in the Arizona desert during the pandemic led them to being gin producers. They also illuminate how opening a gin company during the pandemic was full of advantages that may not have otherwise existed. Timing is everything

Otherwise great

The theme song makes me want to kill my family. I eventually set my player (Overcast) to skip the intro and outro so that I don’t have to hear it a anymore.

Poor Mic Quality

Sother and Greg! Please invest in some quality microphones and recording/podcasting equipment. I started listening to the show many years ago but you guys have not evolved technically with the rest of the podcast world. Content is great but it’s painful to listen to such horrible audio quality. Greg especially- it sounds like you’re calling in from a pay phone inside a very large hollow room. I understand you stopped recording in person from Roberta’s when the pandemic hit, but that was four years ago now. For the sake of your listeners, please fix this!
