The Missing Piece to Feeling Hot Again

In this episode, I’m sharing what I believe is the biggest missing piece when it comes to losing weight and feeling hot after 40, and it’s probably not what you think. It’s self-trust. I open up about my dating life over the past year, including a very public breakup, a deep betrayal, and the unexpected decision to try again with someone I once walked away from. What I realized through all of it is this: the same self-trust required to navigate love, uncertainty, and messy second chances is the exact self-trust required to finally feel good in your body. If you’ve ever lost weight and regained it… If you’ve tried every plan but still second-guess yourself… if you’re exhausted from starting over, this episode will hit. I break down two practical ways to rebuild self-trust: creating an “evidence bank” to prove you can handle discomfort, and using data (rather than emotion) to guide your decisions. Whether we’re talking about going to bed slightly hungry in a calorie deficit, lifting heavier than you thought you could, or not spiraling over the scale, the goal isn’t perfection. It’s proving to yourself that you can trust the woman making the decisions. Because weight loss after 40 isn’t about more discipline. It’s about becoming a woman who trusts herself to try again, to stay consistent, to tolerate uncertainty, and to stop blowing everything up when it’s not perfect. I also share how this work is the foundation of my 6-week Reset program, where we rebuild that trust with systems, coaching, and support that actually fit your real life. If you’re ready to stop second guessing yourself and finally build traction that lasts, this episode is for you. ADD YOUR NAME TO The Rest Waitlist TODAY! The Levels of Partner Support and How That Impacts Weight Loss

If you’re trying to lose weight and feel better in your body, but your partner’s support feels… inconsistent then this episode is for you! I break down the three levels of partner support from the rare “all in with you” teammate to the openly unsupportive critic, and the most common (and trickiest) gray zone—the partner who says they’re supportive but whose actions don’t quite align. I share stories from my own life as a single mom and from clients who’ve navigated everything from subtle resistance to full buy-in, and what actually makes the difference long term. This conversation goes deeper than food and workouts. I walk you through how to get crystal clear on what support you actually need, how to communicate your “why” in a way that truly lands, and when it’s time to pivot, set boundaries, or build systems that don’t rely on someone else changing. From giving your partner a simple dinner template (download my Build Your Bowl Method here!) to outsourcing meals or household support, I challenge the “I should be able to do it all myself” narrative that keeps so many high-achieving women stuck. Here’s the truth I want you to hear: your results are not determined by your partner’s level of support. They’re determined by your willingness to advocate for yourself, adjust when necessary, and build repeatable systems that protect your goals. Weight loss isn’t just about the scale. It’s about becoming the woman who knows what she needs, communicates it clearly, and stops waiting for perfect conditions to feel strong, confident, and at home in her body. If you’re ready to stop negotiating with yourself and start building that identity, this episode will show you where to begin. Add your name to The Rest Waitlist Today! Exactly How to See More Results From All Your Effort

Ever feel like you’re doing all the things…working out consistently, staying busy, breaking a sweat, yet nothing actually changes? In this episode, I’m unpacking a concept from my HR days that explains exactly why that happens: Rocking Horse Syndrome. It’s the illusion of productivity with lots of movement but zero traction.  In the workplace, it looks like endless meetings, over-polished decks, and constant “busy work” with no real outcomes. And the same exact thing is happening in women’s fitness and weight loss journeys after 40. I break down how this shows up in workouts from daily cardio, random classes, constantly switching routines, where effort feels high but results stay the same. I share why this approach keeps women exhausted, frustrated, and stuck, and why it has nothing to do with willpower or age. Instead, it’s about applying the wrong productivity model to your body. Just like at work, real results come from focused effort, clear structure, and doing the work that actually moves the needle, even when it doesn’t give you an instant dopamine hit. We’ll walk through what effective strength training really looks like, how to choose the right weights, why consistency beats variety, and how progressive overload is the missing link most women never learn.  If you’re ready to stop rocking back and forth and finally see your body respond to the effort you’re putting in, this episode will change how you think about workouts, and productivity, forever. How Comfort is Keeping You Stuck (and less hot)??

What if comfort is the exact reason you’re not seeing change? In this episode, I unpack the surprising parallels between participating in an economic boycott and finally making weight loss stick. Both require the same uncomfortable truth: real change demands inconvenience. It’s not glamorous. It’s not effortless. It’s Wednesday at 6pm when you’re tired, out of eggs, and tempted to say “forget it.” But that friction? That’s the signal you’re actually operating outside the system that kept you stuck. We talk about why dabbling doesn’t work, why keeping the door “cracked open” drains your energy, and how identity shifts are what make habits stick long-term. You’ll learn why your nervous system treats inconvenience like danger, how to expand your tolerance for discomfort, and why building systems for the inconvenient moments (not your most motivated days) is the real key to sustainable weight loss.  If you’re ready to stop mistaking comfort for alignment and start building habits that actually last, this episode will shift how you think about change. And if you’re thinking, “Okay… but I need help building those systems,” I created the Hot Mom Guide exactly for that.  Grab HOT MOM: How I lost 10 lb in 10 weeks in my 40s Resist & Unsubscribe Resources HOW TO CONNECT WITH ME: Send me a DM on Instagram @thislifeuncluttered or on LinkedIn @laurenlynnmelton I’d love to hear from you!

How to Use Your Body (and feel good in it) As An Act of Resistance

In this episode of This Life Gets Good, I’m talking honestly about something many of us are feeling but not always saying out loud: how heavy the world feels right now, and how that weight shows up in our bodies. I share why I’ve been speaking more openly about what’s happening around us, why so many women have quietly thanked me for doing so, and why I recognize the privilege I have in being able to use my voice. If you’re a busy, high-achieving mom trying to hold it together while consuming a nonstop news cycle, parenting, and working all at once…this conversation is for you. I dive into how living in constant uncertainty and stress impacts your nervous system, your energy, and how you feel in your body and why wanting to feel strong, confident, and good right now is not superficial. It’s essential. Your body is the vessel through which you experience everything, and taking care of it is what allows you to keep showing up, making decisions, setting boundaries, and doing hard things. I talk about why joy matters (yes, even now), how small moments of mindfulness can ground you, and why strength training in particular has become one of the most powerful tools in my life. This episode is a reminder that strong women are harder to manipulate, harder to silence, and less likely to shrink themselves to make others comfortable. Strength builds confidence, energy, boundaries, and trust in your own instincts and that matters deeply in the world we’re living in. My hope is that you leave this episode feeling steadier, more hopeful, and reminded that feeling good in your body isn’t selfish, it’s fuel. You deserve that, and I’m here to help you build it. Rethinking Time, Productivity, and Why Your Body Is the Missing Variable

In this episode, I’m calling out a pattern I see constantly with high-achieving women over 40: you’re not stuck because you’re doing something wrong…you’re stuck because you’re applying the wrong productivity model to your body. The same “work harder, stay longer, do more” approach that may have worked in corporate settings is often the exact thing that slows results when it comes to workouts, nutrition, and feeling good in your body. I share stories from my 20+ years in corporate leadership, including how efficiency was often rewarded with more work, not better outcomes, and why hours logged never actually equaled impact. If you’re already working out and trying to eat well, but still not seeing or feeling the changes you want, this episode will help you reframe where your time and energy actually matter. Consistency beats intensity. Support beats discipline. And doing the right things beats doing more things. I also share exactly why simple, effective workouts and a realistic nutrition plan are the key for busy moms, and how you can stop overworking your body the same way you once overworked your career. If this resonates, I share how to go deeper with my free Hot Mom guide, where I walk you through exactly how I lost 10 pounds in 10 weeks as a busy single mom in my 40s without blowing up my life. When Your Body Becomes Part of Your Performance Review

In today’s episode, I’m talking about something that so many women feel but rarely say out loud about the reality of gender and beauty bias at work, and how our bodies quietly become part of how we’re evaluated.  I unpack how this bias shows up in real ways in performance reviews, “executive presence,” promotions, and compensation and how different the rules are for men versus women. While male leaders are judged almost exclusively on competence, women are expected to be excellent and acceptable. Polished, put together, visually palatable. And at the same time, the way we work with the stress, the pressure, the constant doing, actively creates the very bodies we’re being judged for. That contradiction is exhausting, infuriating, and deeply unfair… but ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. Most importantly, this episode is about agency. I’m not here to tell you to reject femininity or punish yourself to prove a point. I’m here to help you stop sacrificing your body on the altar of a system that isn’t built for you.  We talk about what actually helps by supporting your body, reducing stress, setting boundaries, protecting time for workouts, planning meals, and creating systems so you’re not relying on discipline when you’re already depleted. Because when you feel good in your body, you take up more space, and we need more women like you doing exactly that. GRAB MY LATEST GUIDE! How To Make Intimacy Better Over 40??

In this birthday episode, I’m reflecting on what it actually means to feel good in your body as you get older and why, at 46, I feel more confident, connected, and yes, hotter than I ever did in my 20s or 30s. Looking back at my 2016 “before” photo, the hardest part for me wasn’t being 75 pounds heavier. It was how disconnected and depleted I felt in my body. I didn’t fully realize how bad it was until I started feeling better, and that disconnection quietly spilled into every part of my life, including intimacy, which became another exhausting “should” instead of something I actually wanted. Today, intimacy feels completely different for me, and it has nothing to do with having more time, less stress, or a “perfect” life. I’m still a busy single mom running a business, but I built a body and a life that actually supports me. In this episode, I share how reducing my mental load, addressing decision fatigue, and creating real systems (yes, unsexy systems) helped me feel safer, more present, and more comfortable in my own skin. When your body isn’t chronically overwhelmed, it finally has space to relax, connect, and enjoy intimacy again. This episode isn’t just about sex, it’s about what changes when you stop treating exhaustion as normal and start setting your life up to support your body. I break down the simple decision-making framework I use with my clients to delegate, delete, schedule, and focus on what truly matters, and how these shifts impact everything from energy and weight loss to confidence and desire. If you’ve felt disconnected from your body or chalked it up to “this is just how it is after 40,” I want you to know it doesn’t have to be that way. Feeling good in your body isn’t a nice bonus—it’s the result.
