Dave Evans- co-author of 'How To Live A Meaningful Life'

After selling over a million books and training thousands of educators worldwide, co-authors of 'Designing Your Life' and 'Designing Your New Work Life' Dave Evans and Bill Burnett kept hearing the same thing from readers: "I did everything right and I'm still not fulfilled." That frustration — amplified by the pandemic and the Great Resignation — is what drove them to write their third book, 'How To Live A Meaningful Life' which helps us all to live find meaning, joy, and flow in our daily lives. In this episdoe Dave explains the following:  Most people chase meaning through impact or fulfillment, he teaches is a better way: stop chasing being fulfilled, start being fully alive The Scandal of Particularity — you'll never have the perfect experience, and that's the point. Enjoy the imperfect moment in front of you The Five Mindsets of meaning making: Wonder, Radical Acceptance, Availability, Fully Engaged + Calmly Detached, Create Your World To accept reality fast and you free yourself to see what it's actually offering you The Tale of Two Worlds — 98% of life is spent in transactional mode. The flow world, where meaning lives, is always available to you Coherency Sightings — catch yourself living your values, which makes life feel meaningful and will guide you to live more into who you truly are Formative Communities — community organized around becoming, not shared interests or tasks Meaning is closer than you think — you're just not looking in the right place If you want to check out Dave and Bill's new book, newsletter, or previous books, visit their website DesigningYour.Life   You can follow them on Instagram    Connect with Kimyung on Instagram or LinkedIn

In our conversation, we discuss:  The community crisis and its impact on our health, social connection, and democracy The question you should ask yourself to figure out what club or organization you want to join Amazing practices that different organizations around America use in their meetings Inspiring stories of ordinary individuals who have created change in their communities  The personal habits that keep individuals from joining clubs  The 'ecosystem' metaphor that gives us hope that rejuvenation is possible  Interesting behind the scenes info of how a documentary is made  Great parts of the documentary that he wanted to keep in, but ultimately had to cut Ideas that each of us can use to make our communities better  How joining an organization prepares you to make change in a broader context And much more!   Resources:  Watch the preview of Join Or Die Visit the 'Join Or Die' Website (you can even host a screening!)
