Almost immediately, his detached demeanor and shifting explanations raised red flags. As investigators looked closer, a darker picture came into focus: a controlling marriage, Susan’s escalating fear, and a handwritten letter she had secretly written—one that warned if anything happened to her, it probably was not an accident, even if it looked like one. Still, without a body or definitive proof, the case stalled, and Susan seemed to vanish into uncertainty.
