    50. The BIGGEST Misconception About Nervous System Regulation

What if everything you've been taught about nervous system regulation is missing the point? Many people believe regulation means feeling calm or safe all the time. But true regulation isn't about avoiding discomfort—it's about building the capacity to stay present with it when you are safe. In this episode, I share a powerful client story and explain why constantly escaping uncomfortable emotions can keep your nervous system stuck in survival mode. You'll learn the difference between safety and capacity, why your body defaults to fight, flight, freeze or fawn, and how to gradually expand your window of tolerance so you can stop avoiding the life you want. 49. Family Estrangement: When Walking Away Is the Healthiest Choice, with Author Cari Fund

Family estrangement is one of the most misunderstood experiences someone can go through. Society tells us that family is everything, that forgiveness is always the answer, and that blood should come before boundaries. But what happens when the relationship itself is causing harm? In this deeply honest conversation, I sit down with author and cycle breaker Cari Fund to talk about the reality of family estrangement, grieving people who are still alive, breaking generational patterns, and learning to choose yourself without carrying a lifetime of guilt. We also explore my own experience of family estrangement from a different perspective. I was separated from my biological father by a family secret that wasn't mine to choose. Together, we unpack how silence, secrets and unresolved pain shape generations—and what healing can look like on the other side.  In this episode we discuss: • Why family estrangement is often misunderstood• The grief of losing someone who's still alive• Breaking cycles of guilt, shame and people-pleasing• Whether reconciliation is always the goal• Navigating Mother's Day, birthdays and family milestones• Why "blood is thicker than water" isn't always helpful• When walking away becomes an act of self-respect Whether you're estranged from a parent, sibling or another family member—or you're supporting someone who is—this conversation is a reminder that choosing peace isn't selfish. 48. People Tree Exercise: The 5 People Quietly Shaping Your Life

Who are the five people you spend the most time with? It could be: Your partner.Your child.Your best friend.Your dog.The podcast host you listen to every morning. The influencer you watch every night. The news you consume. The audiobook that's constantly in your ears. In this solo episode, I share one of my favourite exercises that I learned from neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart—the People Tree Exercise. Here's how it works: Write down the five people you spend the most time with in life right now. Not who you are "closest" to Then, honestly list five qualities that come to mind for each one. Not the qualities you wish they had... The qualities you experience most often. Supportive.Anxious.Optimistic.Negative.Curious.Judgmental.Calm.Reactive. This exercise isn't about blaming the people around you. It's about becoming aware of the environment you're immersed in every single day—and asking yourself whether it's helping you become the person you want to be. Sometimes the biggest shift in your confidence, mindset and nervous system isn't changing yourself. It's changing what—and who—you repeatedly expose yourself to. In this episode you'll learn: • How to do the People Tree Exercise• Why your environment shapes your thoughts and behaviours• The surprising influences you may be overlooking• How to audit your emotional environment• Practical questions to help you create healthier relationships Connect with Katie 🌐 Website: https://www.katiedelimon.com 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katiedelimon 💼 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/katiedelimon 🎙️ Listen to the Inner Self-Confidence Podcast: https://www.katiedelimon.com/podcast 📖 Order my bestselling memoir, Trust the Flames: https://www.katiedelimon.com/book 🎁 Download my FREE guide: 10 Hidden Traumas That Keep Smart, Capable Women Stuck in Survival Modehttps://www.katiedelimon.com/10-hidden-traumas 💛 Work with me 1:1: https://www.katiedelimon.com/coaching

    47. How She Stayed Standing When Life Kept Knocking Her Down, with Breathwork Facilitator & Somatic Coach, Sinéad Quinn

What do you do when life just won't let up? In this powerful conversation, I sit down with breathwork facilitator, somatic coach, and Spinal Energetics practitioner Sinéad Quinn to explore what resilience really looks like—not the kind that pushes through at all costs, but the kind that gently brings you back to yourself. Sinéad's story is one of profound adversity. She shares her experience of becoming a mother to a son with Down syndrome, welcoming a second baby almost 12 weeks prematurely, navigating her husband's vaccine injury, losing her mother, and facing seasons of uncertainty that would leave many feeling completely overwhelmed. Yet through it all, she didn't find healing in a magic pill or a quick fix. She found it in the simple things. Her breath. Gentle movement. Meditation. Learning to regulate her nervous system instead of constantly overriding it. Healing isn't always glamorous. It isn't always exciting. More often than not, it's simple. Repetitive. Sometimes even a little boring. But simple doesn't mean easy. And simple doesn't mean it isn't life-changing. If you've been searching for the next breakthrough, this episode is a beautiful reminder that the most powerful tools are often the ones we already carry with us. Why breath is one of the most powerful tools we have for nervous system regulation. How yoga, meditation and gentle movement supported Sinéad through grief and adversity. What somatic healing really is—and why the body matters in healing. The difference between surviving and truly feeling safe again. Why healing isn't about doing more—it's about coming back to yourself.Whether you're navigating grief, chronic stress, trauma, burnout, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, this conversation offers hope, practical tools, and a gentle reminder that healing doesn't have to be complicated to be effective. 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sineadquinnofficial/ 🌐 Website: https://www.sineadquinn.com/ 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/katiedelimon 📘 Get my book Trust the Flames: https://www.katiedelimon.com/trust-the-flames 💛 Inner Self Confidence Program: https://www.katiedelimon.com/inner-self-confidence 📅 Book a free strategy call: https://calendly.com/katie-katiedelimon/30min 🧘 Nervous System Reboot (Self-Paced Program): https://www.katiedelimon.com/nervous-system-reboot

Ever wondered why you keep repeating the same patterns—even when you know exactly what you should do? 45. Why I'm Childfree by Choice

Today marks a special milestone—this podcast turns one year old. ❤️ In many ways, this podcast has become one of my babies. My book, my business, this community... they are all things I've intentionally created and deeply nurtured. So it felt fitting to finally record an episode I've wanted to make for a very long time. Why I'm childfree by choice. This isn't an episode about convincing anyone not to have children, nor is it about saying one path is better than another. It's about honesty. It's about having the courage to listen to your own inner voice, even when it tells you something different from what society expects. In this episode, I share:✨ Why I've never wanted children—and why that answer has never changed.✨ The pressure women face to follow the "life script."✨ Why I believe inner self-confidence is about trusting yourself more than public opinion.✨ The history of choice, motherhood and why having genuine freedom is a relatively recent privilege for many women.✨ Why your life doesn't have to make sense to anyone else to be deeply meaningful. Whether you're a parent, childfree by choice, undecided, navigating infertility, or simply curious, I hope this conversation reminds you that there isn't one "right" way to live a fulfilling life. Because your life is yours. Not your family's.Not society's.Not anyone else's. Thank you for being here and for supporting this podcast over the past year. Here's to many more honest conversations. 🌐 Connect with Me Online: 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/katiedelimon 📘 Get my book Trust the Flames: https://www.katiedelimon.com/trust-the-flames 🔗 Inner Self Confidencehttps://www.katiedelimon.com/inner-self-confidence 💬 Let’s jump on a free strategy call:https://calendly.com/katie-katiedelimon/30min 🧠 Nervous System Reboot – Self-paced digital programhttps://www.katiedelimon.com/nervous-system-reboot

    43. Restorative Justice: What If Healing Matters More Than Punishment? with Author, Speaker and Survivor Advocate, Marlee Liss

What if healing mattered more than punishment? In this powerful episode, I sit down with Marlee Liss — author, speaker, survivor advocate, and founder of Survivors 4 Justice Reform — to discuss trauma, healing, and her groundbreaking experience with restorative justice following sexual assault. Restorative justice is an alternative approach that brings together those harmed and those responsible in a structured, trauma-informed process focused on accountability, healing, and repair rather than punishment alone. Marlee shares her personal story, why the traditional justice system failed to meet her needs as a survivor, and how restorative justice became a pivotal part of her healing journey. We explore shame, post-traumatic growth, self-trust, advocacy, nervous system healing, and the conversations we're still not having around sexual violence and survivor support. Whether you're a survivor, supporting someone you love, or simply curious about new approaches to justice and healing, this conversation will leave you thinking differently about what recovery can look like.
