Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding dig into our tasty one-tin butter chicken & chickpea curry

It’s double trouble at the table this week. Alison Hammond returns, and Noel Fielding makes his debut as we celebrate the comeback of The Great British Bake Off to our screens. Back for its 17th series and with a new judge in the tent, Nigella Lawson, they share what life is really like behind the scenes, from the joys of working on set to tales of Alison’s on‑set baking and Noel’s go‑to lunch for keeping energy levels high. Angela’s latest creation puts her in strong contention for our own Star Baker, as she serves up Ed Smith’s recipe for a one-tin butter chicken and chickpea curry. Quickly earning its new name of ‘Alison & Noel in a bowl’, it’s served with poppadoms, chutneys and a bottle of Cape Mentelle Marri Chardonnay 2025, selected by the Waitrose wine experts. It’s no surprise that there’s no shortage of laughter in the studio, with the table getting stuck into some important food debates, including why fish finger sandwiches should always be sourdough-free, and Alison’s recent discovery that fish and chips are even better with a side of golden syrup, a combination that leaves the Dish table divided. Mahabharata Episode 1: Beginnings

Ganga, Devabrata and Shantanu The first episode of the Stories of Mahabharata podcast series has been missing for a long time. The episode was not added because it did not have the production quality that we have been striving for. After a long break, we finally found some time to rerecord this episode and mix the vocal track with sound effects and music to make it at par with the rest of the episodes. We hope you like it. This episode tells the story of the beginnings of the great saga told by Rishi Vyasa and written by lord Ganesha. The story begins with the narrative of King Shantanu's marriage with Ganga and the birth of Devabrata. Later we learn how prince Devabrata becomes the great Bhishma because of his “Bhisham” or profound vow – a vow which kickstarts the story of the Mahabharata and the destiny of the Kuru dynasty. Eat Bison to Save Bison

For tens of thousands of years, North America was bison country. Millions of these giant, shaggy animals—also known as buffalo—roamed from the far north to the Gulf and from the east coast to the west. They defined the land and its people: the animals provided food, clothing, and spiritual connection to the continent's Indigenous peoples—while their hooves, wallows, and dung patties shaped the prairie, providing essential habitat for plants, birds, amphibians, and more. But by the late 1800s, the bison had nearly been driven extinct. Today, cattle have largely taken their place, with huge human and ecological repercussions.
