Arts & Seizures is Heritage Radio’s rogue child, a rambunctious, unfiltered talk and variety show featuring a wide range of high-minded miscreants and rock’n’roll outlaws. Guests include dipsomaniac journalists and James Beard-award winners, comedians, art stars, pro wrestlers, punk rockers, and rule breakers of every stripe. Hosted by notorious author, X-rated raconteur, and internationally known provocateur Mike Edison, Arts & Seizures is indeed the “Fastest Half-Hour on the Internet Today.”
Episode 250: THE LAST RADIO SHOW
Edison and Zaremba put on their fancy clothes for a set with their full-tilt blues orkestra Sharky & The Count feat. members of Brooklyn's finest, Daddy Long Legs! Joined by a bevy of beautiful women, they crank out their greatest hits, take a ride down memory lane (crazy cat ladies, the Rolling Stones, and the odds of actually surviving one of their shows, which Edison puts down "with the evidence I have" of 1:125). Still safer than the space shuttle! This was the FINAL episode of Arts & Seizures and we owe it all to our friends and fans, the Heritage Radio Network, and of course Roberta's Pizza. Thanks to everyone who was part of the ride. Tune in and find out EXACTLY what we've learned in 7 years...... xoxoxoxo
Episode 249: THE LEGENDARY LOST MR. AIRPLANE MAN SESSION!
Finally recovered from the Arts & Seizures sharkives is this jewel of blues and trouble! Originally recorded July 30, 2017, this episode was plagued with technical difficulties and thought to be unrecoverable... it took HRN's best engineer and Edison's personal touch to restore this show, but there was no way we were going out without taking it to church one more time. Tara and Margaret of Mr Airplane Man call on Jesus, Mickey Finn sits in on organ, and Edison speaks in tongues! Testify!!!
Episode 248: GOSPEL, BLUES, & COCAINE - THE NEXT TO THE NEXT TO THE LAST SHOW!
Sharky and the Count skirt the edge of sanity with this blast of church-going good-time gospel, Bushwick blues, and an existential conversation about drugs, Spanish money, and the environment (no more plastic straws!) You will laugh and you will cry, Dave the Engineer certainly did. JUST SAY YES!!!!!! *Arts & Seizures* is going out with a bang, yo.
Episode 247: SUPERSTAR BOB BERT!
DONT CALL IT A COMEBACK!!!! On episode 247 Bob Bert (Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Lydia Lunch) makes his record breaking 1,000,000th appearance!!!!!! Featuring a HARD HITTING INTERVIEW that RIPS THE SHEETS off of Bob's storied career!!!!! We give JON SPENCER's new single DO THE TRASH CAN a twirl, discuss the proper place for power tools in pop music, and sing about WHISKY AND COCAINE!!! Another one for the ages... or aged, as you like.
Episode 246: IT'S SUMMER... AND YOU ARE BEING SERVED!
Edison and Zaremba are joined by heavyweight lawyer Blaine Bortnick who proves lawyers do have a sense of humor by (A) Keeping Edison out of jail and (b) Telling a pretty good Donald Trump joke. He also puts up with us. Featuring music by the Troggs and some homespun blues, the countdown to 250 continues!
Episode 245: Over Proofed Dub
Sharky and the Count go to Jamaica! Rock steady with The Kings of Bushwick! With special guest Murat Aktürk from the Daddy Long Legs!!! Over proofed rum and danger lürk.
Funny and Smart, Sexy and Druggy, Rock'n'Roll
They claim to be the "Fastest 30 Minutes on the Internet Today" and they may be right. Really whiz-bang talk-show format with nothing off limits. The shows on ghostwriting were amazing, also the jam on the Ramones song with Handsome Dick Manitoba from the Dictators. MIke Edison is a really great writer, I am not surprised he is so funny, but I didnt know Judy McGuire who is also brilliant. Edison keeps saying she is "too hot for television" - she sounds like it!!!
