Salixology (WILLOWS & SCULPTURE) with Patrick Dougherty

So I reached out to an artist whose work means a lot to me, and convinced world-renowned environmental sculptor Patrick Dougherty to chat about his work, and about willows in general. Your podcast is fire! I’m an AP Biology teacher in VA and I loved your Deep Sea Microbiology episode with Dr. Girguis! I’m using it in my Cellular Energetics unit. We’re using it to discuss Cellular Respiration, Gibbs Free Energy, Carbon Fixation, Chemosynthesis and Trophic Efficiency! No matter the topic, this show is always so fascinating and immersive. There's so much genuine enthusiasm and vulnerability. My favorite part of every episode is the point where Alie has put the scientist so at ease that they start fangirl/guy-ing about their field. There's nothing I love more than someone talking in an animated way about their favorite subject. Also, it's always worth listening to the end for the secrets. The recent all-secrets episode is incredible. (Parasocial aside: Psst... Hey, Alie... We adore you. The raw edges only make us relate to and love you more. 🥰)
