Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Grown out of the need to provide higher education to Black students when white institutions would not let us in. Today, these institutions are the center of Black academic culture. Some of our favorite celebrities attended HBCUs (hey Meg Thee Stallion!). In today’s episode, Dr. Dom and Terri are joined by Grambling University alum, current Texas Southern University professor, and friend of the podcast, Dr. Jannis Moody to discuss life on a Black college campus.

A powerful podcast by powerful women 👑

I’ve listened to literally EVERY EPISODE of this podcast! I’m a early fan, like, the original H.E.R. Space,” before the re-brand. The ladies are relatable, funny, witty, and most important, real!! I really appreciate their range of topics and the “of you clatchet,” segment of every interview. If you need a new podcast with fresh voices, look no further.

This is an important topic and you both very accurately and thoroughly describe how Black girls are parentified in families and adultified in society. However, I wish you had started with how the problem is grounded in how Black girls/women have been racialized and stereotyped since the period of enslavement and how current institutional and structural racism and inequities perpetuate this problem.

One of my favorite podcasts

I am a big fan of this podcast! It has helped me gain so much understanding, it has helped me heal myself, it has helped me get through some rough times. I usually listen to it first thing in the morning to begin my day, and I take notes in my journal.I just love that we have brown and black girls trying to motivate and I’ve lived in and help others through these type of platforms
