No Simple Road's Weekly Rewind - Vol. 22
Catch up with the No Simple Road crew as they discuss everything from the music scene, family life, show recaps & reviews, spirituality, psychedelics, and everything in-between!
This week on The Rewind we get into the swing of the season and talk about change. It's nearly Spring and with the change of season comes the voice inside that calls for a change along with the rhythms of the earth. What are some ways that we recognize it is time for a change within ourselves, how do we get the pendulum swinging in the right direction if we feel we're off track, and what are ways that each of us begin a new cycle of habits and patterns to start to create positive change in our lives.

Rob Koritz of Dark Star Orchestra - Coming Around
We are super excited this week to have Rob Koritz of Dark Star Orchestra as our guest on No Simple Road as part of our lead up to Skull & Roses Festival! Rob was classically trained at the University of Arizona before realizing there was little career opportunity in classical percussion. After some travel time in Europe (including 1990 Dead Tour) he resumed his studies, getting a degree in Jazz Studies at Webster University in his hometown, St. Louis MO.
Over the next 9 years, his musical career including everything from original bands to Dead, jazz, classical, country, zydeco, a samba troupe doing corporate gigs, and way too many wedding gigs.
We jump right into it with Rob talking about:
Rob's favorite cartoon as a kid.Why he created a podcast during the Pandemic and what he had to learn to make it happen. How he got turned on to The Grateful DeadWhat it was that pulled him from school to music. They way he saw the Dead scene explode when Touch Of Grey came out.How unexpected it is to be carrying on the musical legacy of The Grateful Dead through DSO.What his experience is like when the music plays the band. What the recent DSO Europe tour was like for him.How he has finally found equilibrium in a work/life balance. His perspective on why Grateful Dead music does what it does for people.... and a ton more!

No Simple Road's Weekly Rewind - Vol. 21
Catch up with the No Simple Road crew as they discuss everything from the music scene, family life, show recaps & reviews, spirituality, psychedelics, and everything in-between!
This week on The Rewind we dig into some tips to help fight the good fight when we are burning the candle at both ends. We are coming to that time of the year when a lot of us will be going nonstop with shows, festivals, traveling, and all the fun that comes with Spring/Summer. We go over some of the ways each of us has learned to care for ourselves over the years, both in major ways, and in some small things too. Think of this one as a PSA for our future selves...

The Goose Chicks Podcast Hosts Leslie Mack & Chelsea Long - So Ready
This week on No Simple Road we are super stoked to have Leslie and Chelsea from The Goose Chicks Podcast as our guests. Leslie Mack is a long-time podcaster and jam-band aficionado. She previously produced & co-hosted Blackberry Jams presented by Ben & Jerry’s, an exploration of the intersections between the band Phish and Black Liberation. She brings a healthy obsession with Goose to the show as well as a genuine love for all the Goose Chicks out there. In her non-Goose obsessed life she is a Digital Strategist and Communications Director for The Frontline. Leslie hails from Flatbush Brooklyn and lives in Charlotte, NC.
Chelsea Long is a lover of live music and, with the discovery of Goose, new to the jam scene. She found Goose at the start of her spiritual awakening and has a deep spiritual connection to their lyrics and meditative jams.
Inspired by the Hungersite video series, Chelsea recently left her corporate job in nonprofit administration to start a creative art business making tie-dye clothing and accessories. She hopes to speak on the spiritual and creative connections between Goose’s music and fans.
We talk with the ladies about:
the unique time and place we are in right now as a musical community.removing 'Gatekeeping' and the barrier to entry from the Jam Band scene.Chelsea's experience coming into the scene during lockdown.the concept behind The Goose Chicks Podcast.creating safe spaces inside the shows and being free enough to have your own personal experience.the deliberate progression of 'Torch Passing'why Leslie loves to bring people to their first Goose show... and so much more! Head over to www.goosechickspod.com for all the info on them!

So Happy I Found This
Hello from IL! Been listening for a little over a month now & Im glad I found this crew. Interesting episodes and new artist spotlight.
I mean, what a great resource for finding new music. I’ve been stuck in 60-90s and trying to find new, relevant jams and have had some luck on my own but glad I have Aaron, Mel and Apple. Part of what they do is similar to the record store manager who would say, “Hey you gotta listen to this.”
Episodes flow well and bc my interests lie in the same space as theirs, it’s an enjoyable listen & great fit for what I want to be doing with my time.
Great pod
Always a fun hang with positive and uplifting content. Keep on rocking guys
This crew rocks ❤️
I got into the jams about a year ago and my life has been changed. Went to over 30 shows in 2022, and it has brought me experiences and people I never could have imagined. With all the love and joy from the jams, I have been struggling with finding balance in my day to day life. I am 20 years old, moved to Colorado (from New Hampshire) last year for school, dropped out of school and am just trying to find my way. I struggle greatly with my mental health, and found this podcast around the New Year. Every episode I turn on makes me want to cry, it is as though the universe knew exactly what I needed to hear, and channeled that message through some of my favorite musicians and your podcast. This road is so far from simple, and your discussions have helped me stay grounded and keep working on myself the past weeks. I look forward to being a seasoned listener and meeting y’all one day ❤️🔥
