Who’s Influencing Your Recovery? The People Around You Matter

Who you surround yourself with in recovery matters more than you may realize. Are the people around you helping you grow in hope, honesty, surrender, and restoration? Or have you stayed in a recovery environment that once served you well—but may no longer be helping you move forward? In this episode, we talk about the power of community in healing and why the right relationships can completely change the trajectory of your recovery. Charity shares the moment she realized she had outgrown her betrayal recovery group—not because the women in it were bad or because her pain was no longer valid, but because she needed to be surrounded by people who were pursuing the same kind of healing and restoration she desired. We also share a powerful parenting moment with our eight-year-old after he saw a frightening image he couldn’t get out of his mind. What began as a hard night became an opportunity to teach him how to bring fear into the light, reach for community, pray, speak truth, and actively engage his faith instead of trying to fight alone. That experience reminded us how similar these practices are to what we need as adults in recovery when an image, temptation, trigger, or thought gets stuck in our minds. This conversation is ultimately about learning to ask better questions: Who is influencing me? Am I still growing? Am I surrounded by people who sharpen me? Have I become dependent on a recovery system instead of depending first on Jesus? And am I willing to make a change if the environment around me is no longer producing the fruit I want in my life and marriage? We believe recovery was never meant to happen in isolation. God designed us for fellowship, confession, encouragement, and community. And when couples are surrounded by other couples who are also pursuing healing, reconciliation, and a restored marriage, something incredibly powerful can happen. If you’ve been wondering whether you need a new community, deeper fellowship, couples recovery support, or simply a few people around you who will help point you toward hope, this episode is for you. Because who you’re becoming in recovery is deeply connected to who you’re walking with. Resources: The Bridge Back to Us  https://restored2more.com/contact/#1 Thanks for listening!
