Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert. Great listen!

I absolutely love Monica. She provides a balance and insight that deserves to be heard, and everyone who is saying otherwise is unwilling to hear an important perspective that gives this podcast its unique ability to touch so many people. Thank you Monica and Dax!
Dax is the best!

Monica is also wonderful and this pod makes me feel like we’re friends—I love how much I learn and I love how approachable and open you both are. Smart, accomplished and capable hosts who are (as best I can tell) so receptive and endlessly teachable! The guests you bring on are people who would not have ended up on my radar otherwise and my world has expanded because of it. Special thanks to Dax for being a model of someone in a place of privilege who seizes the opportunity to recognize the luck of and appreciate his charmed life and uses his ability to shine a light on ways most dudes can follow to be better dudes. Your humility and gratitude is wonderful to behold. Thank you
New Drinking game! 🥃

Take a shot every time Monica disrupts the flow between Dax/guest w “YEAH”or “YES” & of course “FAKE LAUGH” 🥃 You’ll be LIT cause her disruptions are ENDLESS! Make her stop! Please!! MONICA Shhhhh, you’re ruining it!!! 🙊🙉 herby renaming Monica “THE DISRUPTER”. This girl manages to RUIN every interview. I long for the days when she was humble and let Dax do the talking. What is her purpose here?? She’s a vapid, irritating, thoughtless, child, with an insatiable need be pandered to & never challenged. Have you clocked how delicately Dax tiptoes on eggshells w her?? He’s legit afraid to voice a contradiction. Her ongoing disruptions prevent any meaningful connection or flow to come to fruition between Dax, & guest. Her sole purpose is to remind everyone that she’s there and relevant. Ironically, every time she speaks it only proves the contrary. A/E has sadly become a tough listen for me. The “bits” she wrote for K Bell at the SAG awards fell so flat. She’s not the rare talent that Dax wants everyone to believe is. She adds nothing and only detracts from the quality, depth and intellect from the show. Monica has 2 settings… 1. Spoiled, infantilized, Temper tantrum throwing brat. 2. Nasty, combative, bitter, social climbing, all knowing, entitled, girl who wants to be the boss, only without the credentials. Monica does not have the likability factor that Dax has. In fact she’s not qualified nor deserving on this gig. She won the Dax lottery and has been riding that wave, in her first class seat for 7 years and hasn’t displayed an ounce gratitude or humility, only entitlement. The more Monica we get, the less I want. No bueno. MONICA BYE 👋
I ❤️ Monica & Dax

Love the pod! Monica is a great counter balance to Dax. The show doesn’t work without her. Look forward to every episode!
Long Covid is Real
4d ago
I really enjoy this podcast, for the most part, but when I listened to the Suzanne O’Sullivan episode, my blood was boiling. If you’ve never known someone to have become chronically ill after having had COVID then you should not be completely dismissive of it. Many of us were highly functioning people with families, jobs, hobbies, who have been forever changed by this crippling disease. I’ve heard of relationships breaking up, friendships ending, people unable to work and losing their jobs, parents unable to take care of their children — all due to COVID. Suzanne O’Sullivan, we did not just come up with a label because we were lonely and had no one to talk to. I nearly went through the roof when O’Sullivan stated “There is really good evidence that most people, however, with long COVID probably didn’t get it related to the virus, but rather to the kind of idea of long COVID” — and many other infuriating statements. The fact that Dax and Monica were in agreement throughout this conversation was not fair to the people who are suffering and who continue to fight to be cared for, noticed and believed. You try having brain fog for five years, Monica, or fighting to breathe, or not being able to do the things you did prior to March 2020. Please do your research, go onto the many Long COVID FB Groups and read the heart-breaking posts, read the many articles written about Long COVID - the NYTimes recently published (March 12th) an article entitled: “A Clearer Picture of Covid’s Lasting Effects on the Body”. The fantastic science podcast, Ologies, has done a great job in describing the disease and providing validation for those friends, families, some podcasters and doctors who do not believe it to be real. For the estimated 400 million people who have Long COVID - it is real.
Egomaniac
Mar 22
The hosts are out of touch with their own reality and the real world. Also Dax is addicted to Instagram and the butt kissing comments. Please everyone stop commenting on his Instagram to feed his ego and narcissism.
Charming, but still mired in misogyny
Mar 22
Dax Shepard is charming and funny while also stuck in toxic masculinity and misogyny. He tries hard, but he’s still problematic. I had to stop listening. The more he takes the Rogan route, the more harm he does while believing himself to be the smartest person in the room
Eeeew. Andrew Schulz
Mar 22
I am such a fan of this podcast but really wish that Monica and Dax called out Andrew Schulz for interviewing a RAPIST. Why are we trivializing the fact that Donald Trump has been charged with rape? Giving a rapist a platform is not okay when you claim to love your wife and daughter, Andrew Schulz.
Please change the editing
Mar 22
I don’t know what the deal is with the editing, but it really messes up the conversations. It’s like it’s trying to cut out any millisecond of dead air and it makes it seem so unnatural and like you’re cutting stuff out even though I don’t think you are. Btw, I appreciate Dax willing to voice both sides takes on stuff. The people giving 1 star reviews being over dramatic saying you can’t normalize certain people or opinions is mind blowing and gross to me. It’s like they want to silence conservative points of view or something. The irony is that the elitist moral superiority line of thinking is exactly why the 2025 election went the way it did. People have ideological differences and THAT IS FINE, in many cases nobody is “right” or “wrong”. Anyway, it’s a good show but please fix the editing stuff. That’s the main reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
Obsessed with yourselves
Mar 21
Why do famous people need to make more and more shows interviewing other famous people? What is this dystopian world where the general population has nothing to say and will just consume anything the celebrity class produce? Are you guys just like obsessed with yourselves? Reminds me of SNL’s 50 anniversary show with an audience of only celebrities, rather than the common people who actually consume the show and keep the lights on. Tired of the narcissus class thinking we care to hear you hang w your other famous friends. I have my own friends I can hang out with who are just fine but too humble to make another stupid podcast about it.
