This was radical for the time when it launched, and it still swims upstream in 2024 though the zeitgeist has ostensibly adopted superficial tenants body positivity. Christy is a leading expert in the field and shares her bombshell insights in such compassionate delivery. Life changing for those who struggle with diet culture and/or disordered eating.

As someone in eating disorder recovery it was very helpful to listen to the podcast episode with Sonya Renee Taylor and Food Psych. Sometimes it’s hard to stay on track, but this podcast aided in reminding me I’m not alone in this journey. 🤍
Revised Review 3 years later obesity is a life thief

I’ve recently discovered intuitive eating and I’m so grateful I found your podcast. Thank you for putting this good information out there. I see the intuitive eating and HAES movements being usurped by the diet industry. So please, please keep doing what you’re doing. 3 YEARS LATER: EDIT 3 years later I gained 100 pounds. Yes dieting is a life thief. But you know what else is? Being 100+ pounds over weight. I cannot access my life the way I want to. So now instead of dieting consuming my mind and money and energy being 100+ pounds over weight is. For example I would like to take my kids to the zoo but I don’t think I can be on my feet all day. I have to fly first class. I worry every time I sit on a chair that I might break it. I have to buy plus size clothing that is way more expensive. My luggage is heavier because of my bigger clothing. I can’t hike with my family. I’m on blood pressure medication. I’m hot and sweaty all the time. I have to get pedicures because I can’t reach my toes. I use a bidet because cleaning myself in the bathroom is nearly impossible. I snore so badly now that I keep eveyone awake and I most likely have sleep apnea. I’m tired all the time. Getting in and out of the car is hard. I can’t squat down. So now I spend my time energy and money coping with a world not meant for people my size. When a person has weight struggles it will consume your life one way or another. BTW I do not binge eat or eat much junk at all. I don’t even like chips and rarely eat fast foods. I eat mostly home cooked nutritious foods. I just eat real food. So it not like I stopped dieting and had a steady stream of cookies, ice cream and McDonald’s. I eat oatmeal and spaghetti and split pea soup and salads etc. I am returning to WW. I do not want obesity to be my life thief. I do not want to be in poor health and unable to access my life the way I want to due to my obesity

Such an incredible and eye-opening podcast! I love both the solo Q&As and the interviews with guests. It’s a really easy show to listen to, because though the conversations get deep and explore some of the hardest periods in a person’s life, the tone always remains hopeful. The host is also extremely open and accepting, and she makes a conscious effort to be inclusive to everybody, including those with disabilities and LGBTQ+ people. Thank you, Christy Harrison, for your amazing work! It has really helped me, and I would recommend anybody (even those not struggling in their relationships with food or their bodies) to listen to this podcast.

Updated Review 3/27/2023 I loved your episode with Alan Levinowitz. You addressed many of the issues I mention below and it was so so so refreshing to hear. It’s so refreshing to and loved how AL mentioned the appeal to nature/naturalistic fallacy with respect to Intuitive Eating. I would have given this podcast 3/5 stars in 2018. I recently revised it to 4/5 and now I’m revising it to 5/5. I hope you keep it up and don’t slip back into the dogmatic all-or-nothing beliefs you once had. ——————————————————————— Really liked the most recent show. I appreciate the nuance I haven’t seen in your work before. You used to come across as having a all-or-nothing attitude around HAES and Non-Diet, but I’ve seen more nuance today and in the past few months and it’s very refreshing. Please keep it up.
Horrible advise for obese

This woman telling obese people it’s ok to eat for reasons other than hunger. It’s ok to eat when bored, or emotional, or other reasons. The very notion that a person who has NO proper satiety or hunger signals due to hormone disregulation that comes along with obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, etc, it’s ignorance. If obese people had proper hunger signaling they wouldn’t be obese. I know. Lifelong obese person here who lived that. Every day. Only after months of fasting and eating low carb did I even begin to experience what actual real hunger, as well as satiety, really feels like.

Unfortunately, when I came across Covid, I had to go back and check the date of February 13, 2023. I guess I’m just surprised that people are still talking about vaccination. this possibly could’ve triggerd me to think about Covid days. I’m just ready to move on.
