100NO 377. Great episode. Healthy banter especially on a longevity podcast

[‘Vegan’ vs Omnivore]

Another Great episode. Healthy banter especially on a longevity podcast, is a fun and an efficient way to look at all dietary opinions. If we want to get serious about reaching ‘100 not out’ disease-free (including arthritis or empty in the top paddock, still not found in many of the Blue Zones other than the Hadzan’s or potentially Lomalindin’s) we need to reduce the abundance of pathobionts with a greater abundance of protective numbers, over diversity. For example in a whole-food plant-based diet (WFPB) reduced pathogenic TMAO (trimethylamine N-oxide) produced from any consumption of animals (especially in red meat or in excess) may be key, found absent in the ‘vegan’ gut microbiota longer than in a 12 week n=2. TMAO from a carnivorous or omnivorous diet have been shown to be counter protective especially in heart, neurological, renal, and diabetes mellitus diseases. Previously an omnivore, I’m at reducing LDL and hopefully longterm neuritic amyloid plaques (type 3 diabetes) using a <10% fat (100% whole-food plant-based diet. Funny thing is, the microbiome is said to be ‘plastic’ constantly changing with the seasons, but right now it’s working, and I don’t need a microbiome or stool test to tell me why I can walk further, sleep sounder, or function better. Maybe (as an aside) it’s also other dogmatic beliefs we change that also matter.
